I'd be willing to compare Mothra vs Godzilla to Halloween as far as genre films go. I mean, the film is a near perfect representation of it's genre and the plot's formula is still being copied today. Obviously the effects haven't aged well, but back in the day Toho's only rival was Disney as far as effects go.
