Hunker Down 2008

Tropical Storm Fay has my entire office in a tizzy. The possibility the parks will be closed tomorrow has everyone glued to every single updated track. Nevermind the potential flooding, high winds and rain, we want a day off!

Well this storm has been a letdown.

It was a let down. The only problem I had with it is that with all the rain no one is going out of their way to buy comics, so it's been a slow week. And it just started pouring again.

Looking back, we got hit more in Orlando after the storm went out into the Atlantic and just sat there. It rained from Tuesday all the way through Friday with constant winds. Of course, everyone figured when the initial path took it east of us, we were all okay, and so everyone was moving on assuming it would be business as usual, and then came the deluge.

And now Gustav is heading our way!

If I was running New Orleans, I'd start moving people out now. Gustav is going to be bad.

If Gustav hits NO they're totally fucked. I wouldn't bet my life on the updated levees, hell no.

Fay gave us 2-3 days of good rain we badly needed here in Atlanta. A couple of tornados and lots of downed trees but that was about it.

Just in time for my trip to Orlando the week after next.

Hannah is supposed to hit the Atlantic coast and head northwest. If I stay in Orlando it'll be alright most likely, but I have tickets to the Dolphins/Jets game, and if it's delayed I'll be pissed.

Hanna didn't do shit here (Raleigh, NC). Some rain, some leaves came off trees, whoopdy doo.

Looks like Florida dodged the Ike bullet, but now Texas and Louisiana have to worry about him.

Besides some flooding in my backyard, we got off easy this season.

They're predicting three named storms for October, so we may not be out of the woods yet.
