Ten recomendations for a newbie - Page 2

Check out the first trade of Unwritten, which Vertigo seems to be pushing as their next flagship title. I'm still on the fence about it, but it shows a lot of potential, and the first issue is undeniably great.

The final issue of that trade was the one that sold me on the book, to be honest. The initial storyline with the Harry Potter analogue didn't really do much for me, but the standalone story about Rudyard Kipling really opened up the scope.

Yeah, Subotai talked up Unwritten, and I love a lot of Carey's stuff, so that's on the list to check out.

As I mentioned, I'm not a big superhero guy -- Daredevil, the Flash, and Batman were the two I followed with any real regularity back in the day. I'm more of an author/artist guy, which is why I'm excited to check out Brubaker's run on Captain America.

It really is well-worth the hype. It's a bit of a slow burn in the beginning, but the quality of the individual issues along with the payoffs from each little piece of the puzzle coming into view makes it already one of the best superhero runs of all time.

I got Unwritten and the first Morrison-Quigley Superman on loan from my work today. I'll let you guys know what I think.

All-Star Superman made me love that character for the first time ever. Best superhero comic of the decade, hands-down.
