For someone that I think we all tend to hate, this brother is doing pretty damn good for himself.

Perry fills a niche: Formulaic African-American family films. Cheap to produce, built in audience virtually ignored by Hollywood and stamped with Oprah's seal of approval.

I'm just pissed that I didn't think of it first.

The chitlin music circuit actually gave birth to real artists who ended up changing the face of music and even society.


Rick Fox's goofy smile in every scene and Tyler Perry in drag doing crap melodrama doesn't strike me as similar to that.

Maybe we'll get a Hendrix or a Little Richard or the films will influence the next Spielberg to pick up a camera....but I doubt it.

You're all forgetting the wonderful finale of MADEA'S FAMILY REUNION, where the wacky black family dances to "We Are Family" by Sister Sledge. There aren't enough millions to give this creative dynamo.

You're right, but if I apply the Perry Template, I will be rich. Besides, I think that they were catering more to the potheads than to the Mexicans.

I will not insult them to their face, only subversively so they don't know that they are being insulted.
