Best MST: 3000 episodes

I've seen a few of these over the years, of varying quality. Recently saw Manos: Hands of Fate, and at various points was clawing at my eyes, howling hysterically.

I'm picking up the Manos: HoF and Santa Claus v. Martians double pack. What are the other, must-watch episodes? Space Mutiny and Werewolf look pretty great.
Mitchell. Laserblast.
I've seen nearly every episode but I'm absolutely terrible at remembering the titles of the films they play. Generally anything with private detectives or teenagers played by forty year olds is great.
Pod People.
I like Outlaw. Space Mutiny. And Overdrawn at the Memory Bank.

Girls Town was a funny one too. And I second the vote for Mitchell.
Werewolf (or Wurwulf if you know what I'm talking about) is a great one. As is Mitchell. That's probably my favorite Joel episode. The one Joe Don Baker Mike episode was really good too, but I can't remember the name. Escape 2000 is one of the best ones. The Final Sacrifice is my all time favorite though. You've got to love Zap Rowsdower.

Oh, and Hobgoblins. Everyone loves Hobgoblins.

The best part is that a huge chunk of the series is available on youtube.
Time of the Apes.
Puma Man. Or was it just called Puma?
Some personal favorites:

Joel:
The Amazing Colossal Man, Earth vs. The Spider, War of the Colossal Beast (avec Mr. B Natural)

Mike:
The Pumaman, Merlin's Shop of Mystical Wonders, Riding with Death

Warrior of the Lost World is a great one, an Italian Mad Max type ripoff, starring Robert Ginty (he's the Gintiest!), Persis Khambatta, and Donald Pleasence.

Cave Dwellers is also good, but on the painful side, ala Hobgoblins.

You where right the 1st time, it' is called Puma Man

and he flys like an idiot.

Also to the list of best MST: Godzilla vs Jet Jaguar
post #12 of 67
If I remember correctly, wasn't there a Japanese movie that was kind of like Planet of the Apes but with pandas?

My two all time favorites have to be Santa Claus Vs. The Martians and the weird Mexican Santa Claus movie where he fights Satan. I can't remember the name of the second one but it is bat shit insane.

Sadly, many of these don't appear to be "netflixable", and the box sets look a bit unwieldy for my purposes. Still, some great suggestions.
Space Mutiny is great, if only for the appearance of Big McLargeHuge
post #15 of 67
I'm partial to Pod People and The Pumaman

Gotta go with Godzilla vs. Megalon aka "Rex Dart, Eskimo Spy!"
Along with a lot of the ones mentioned above, I really love Girl in Gold Boots and I Accuse My Parents.

But, in my opinion, the gold standard is Werewolf. Just brilliant.

I am amazingly fond of this episode as well. Any time I think of this one I immediately think 'Wahrewolf'.
Wihch one has the short about Mr. B Natural on it? Whichever one that is. Also, Gamera.
I always felt that the whole point of the experiment (I.E. to discover which bad movie would drive someone to the brink of madness) was achieved in INVASION OF THE NEPTUNE MEN. Not one of my favorites because of how stunningly awful the actual movie is, but there's something hilarious about how Mike and Crow basically just leave poor Tom Servo to watch the movie by himself. It's that bad.

I'll repeat the love for PUMA MAN though. That one was just aces. That and WEREWOLF would make a great double feature.

FINAL SACRIFICE is great just for the immortal Zap Rowsdower.
Invasion of the Neptune Men was hilarious purely because it finally hits the point of awfulness that depress Mike and Crow to the point that they walk out of the theatre. If only Dr. Forrester had stuck around, he would've had his master weapon.

Yes to this. Classic.

Also, Teenagers From Outer Space.
"That can't be Sparky. Sparky has skin."
Mitchell
A lot of these were mentioned already, but deservingly so.

Time Chasers
Overdrawn at the Memory Bank
Puma Man
Werewolf
Mitchell
Moon Zero Two
Space Mutiny

At the risk of overselling it, another vote for Puma Man.

'Marooned' (although it was retitled as something else). The riffing on Peck, Hackman, and Janssen is spot on.
'Cave Dwellers' for the hang gliding scene alone.
'Mitchell'
'Hercules'

I don't think its possible to oversell Puma Man. I mean, it's got Donald Pleasance and the guy from Fitzcarraldo in it!
I remember a great, old episode called "Teenage Crime Wave."

I believe it was called Space Travelers. Completely not representative of what the movie was about. There were several of those retitled videos, all from the same distributor. Cave Dwellers was among them. I never did figure out how that's kosher.
The Final Sacrifice ("Do you know how fast you were going, Rowsdower?") and Hobgoblins were two of my favorite episodes for the longest time.

Prince of Space and Space Chief are two horrifically awful old Japanese scifi movies that Mike and the bots hated. They hated Space Chief so much that they actually begged to have Crankor back from Prince of Space.

Parts: The Clonus Horror is also great. I'll second Overdrawn at the Memory Bank (which features a young Raul Julia) and throw in Mole People.
Prince of Space, I like it very much.

The best part of Girl in Gold Boots is when the little weaselly guy teleports into the scene and no one acknowledges it.

What was that company called, Film Ventures? They even do a parody of their intros in Cave Dwellers.

Also good: Master Ninja 1, culled together from the Master tv series in which Lee Van Cleef plays a ninja, and one of the Van Patten schmucks is his sidekick.

The Giant Gila Monster is another great one.

Sidehackers is great, anything with Ross Hagen is sure to be a blast.
I loved Sidehackers. One of the many failings of the Sci Fi Channel years was the channel's insistence that they not do non-genre films anymore. If they'd always followed that rule, we'd have no Sidehackers, Wild Rebels, Mitchell or Catalina Caper. That would be criminal.

They backed off of that in the final season, giving us the glory of Girl in Gold Boots, Final Justice and (I'm in the minority on this one) Hamlet.
"Is that Hamlet?"
"No, that's his friend, Riblet."

You guys are killing me. I can't find half these episodes. Hamlet's only available in some weird pack, and Space Mutiny and Puma Man don't seem to be available at all.

My favorite bit: "Oh, they have tacos!" with the guy's double take is hysterical for some reason.

I have Space Mutiny. It's on Volume 4.
I know it's not kosher, but you can find a lot of these episodes we've been mentioning, if you really want. You could tube them, for one thing.

Some of these may never be released anyway, do to rights issues. There are people on the net that have every episode ever and will sell them too you, usually pretty cheap.

I know that Sandy Frank's Time of the Apes will probably never see the light of day, and I know that one is very findable.

I'm not going to feel too guilty about tracking down the ones that have never been released, lord knows Rhino and the new company have recieved plenty of my money in the past, and will recieve more in the future.

Isn't Space Mutiny on the same volume as Hamlet, which also includes, unless I'm mixing them up, Overdrawn at the Memory Bank and, I think, Red Zone Cuba. I might be very wrong on that, though.
You're almost right on that. Substitute Girl in Gold Boots for Red Zone Cuba. RZC was released on a standalone disc before they started doing collections.
Yeah, I was about to correct myself. I was mixing them up because I watched them all about the same time.

Jesus, Red Zone Cuba. Water. Thirsty. Shick Man.

That one was rough.

Let's also pause for a moment to appreciate EEGAH.

"Did I tell you my tires are filled with water?..........My tires are filled with water!"

Watch out for snakes.

I hear what you guys are saying, but I'd rather try to track them down through Netflix. Unfortunately many of the volumes seem missing.

In any event, I've got quite a list.

Even some of the episodes that have been released have been pulled due to rights issues. Unless you had the right cable channel in the 90s there's no way to legally see all of MST3K, and that is some bullshit.
Mitchell, Manos, Pumaman, Laser Blast, Secret agent Super Dragon, Zombie Nightmare, Godzilla vs. Megalon, Overdrawn at the Memory Bank, Eggah, The Final Sacrafice.
You can buy hard-to-find episodes here. The picture quality ain't great, but you don't watch MST3K for the splendid visuals.
