Kid Rock's All Summer Long

So when is he cutting a check to Warren Zevon's estate?

I can buy that it's a salute to Sweet Home Alabama, and letting that much slide.

But the guitar/piano riffe that runs through the whole song cannot be mistaken for anything but Werewolves of London. Even my eight year old knew that.

That's exactly what I thought the first time I heard this, it seemed like an odd choice to sample "Werewolves of London" in a Kid Rock song. Then I heard the rest of it and realized it's the laziest cover of "Sweet Home Alabama" ever.

The song speaks to me. It says, "why are you listening to this crap?"

I really appreciate the deft way he rhymes "things" with "things" in the chorus.

I actually respect Kevin Federline more than Bob Richie.

Kevin took the hint after his first shitty album and went away.

Leroy Marinelli, who co-wrote Werewolves, has said that Kid Rock split songwriting credits equally between himself, the Skynyrd people, and the Zevon folks. He's cool with how he's done it.

Won't comment on the song itself.

Well, he did get his lyrics read by James Lipton in a Budweiser trucker hat.
