Isn't the last 3 episodes of the 1st half of season 2?

Love the show and been following it from the beginning. Also a huge fan of "The Bruce"

I think the first season is up on HULU. If it is, I'll check it out when I get home.

Love this show. Hate his mom and brother though.
Yeah, I think there are currently 17 episodes up to watch on Hulu. 12 from Season 1 and the first 5 of Season 2.

USA's decent programming (Monk, Psych, Law & Order:CI, Burn Notice) makes me wish my cable company would start carrying the HD version of the channel--instead I'm getting TBS HD. Screw them.

The show is generally entertaining enough and supposedly Tricia Helfer will be back for another episode or two before the end of this set of episodes.

If they cut the mom and brother it would flow better as a show.
the brother isn't really in that many episodes.

the mom is in most, but the brother was in maybe 3 last year? i forget, but it wasnt a lot.

I feel like I'm watching a MasterCard commercial every time I try to sit through this show. I just can't buy Donovan as a superbad CIA operative, and his constant grating narration does nothing to sell me on the idea. He's probably the only thing that's keeping me from enjoying the show.

I think you're pretty close to alone in that opinion, but okay.

But since he's in pretty much every scene, that's like saying the only thing keeping you from enjoying HOUSE is Hugh Laurie.

I'd probably be a(n even) less happy person if I worried about whether my opinions aligned with the majority's. I'm not looking for people to agree with me, and I can only speak on my own behalf.

And yeah, that House example is completely analogous, but I'm not sure why it's worth mentioning. It's the sole problem I have with the show, but I didn't say it wasn't a major one.

i dig the idea that he's gotta deal with the mom. i dunno, madeline kind of reminds me of my mom so it's pretty easy to sympathize with michael on this one.

There's a scene in Season 2's opener, where Madeline sees just what sort of stuff her son does and it disturbs her to her core, did a lot to validate her role in the series. I think she's pretty fantastic, and keeps the show rooted in humanity. Mike, Fi, Sam, they're all authentic badasses. His mom reminds us that he's just as vulnerable as a regular person, which is important to remember in a show that lives off the tension of keeping Mike a few steps ahead or behind everyone else.

Get Burned

Much like everyone else I started watching burn notice simply for the fact that we get to see Bruce Campbell on a weekly basis. The more I got into the show and the more the story arc started to bloom I was hooked. I catch myself watching the marathon's that are on USA so I get caught up and i'm going to get the first season on dvd for multiple viewings. I never thought summer programming would be better than during the normal fall season. But this is one of the few shows that proves how possible it can be.

Finally, someone gets it! Unlike blunderbuss...

I haven't even seen the episode Greg brought up, but I'm not sure what it has to do with my complaint at all. Lots of people seem to love Donovan's work on the show. That's lovely, and I won't begrudge them for it.

Honestly, I really don't understand the mob mentality that often appears on these boards. Isn't it entirely possible that I can "get" this basic cable TV show and still dislike it? Do you seriously mean to say that everyone who fully understands this show would immediately love it?

Everyone who likes spies, guns, fun, cons, semi-witty banter, explosions and The Chin yes.

You're right, there is a lot of mob mentality on these boards. But sometimes its hard to take people at their word when they just come off as utterly ridiculous. Not liking Donovan in this role is like saying Bruce Willis is bad as John McClane. You can say that, but it makes you sound dumb.

You are entitled to your opinion, no one will say otherwise. But if most of the folks on this board disagree, then yes, you will get abused. Piece of advice, if you don't have thick skin don't post on the Internet unless you're sure the board in question is one where everyone thinks alike.

i was out with some friends last night and "burn notice" came up over the course of the conversation. one of the girls with us wasn't a fan of the show, likening it to a "telenovella".

'sfunny, i think that kind of sums up the slick, trashy vibe of the show, and just underlines another reason why i like it so much.

How is it at all like saying that?

I've got thick scaly patches of skin to go around, and I feel I'm fully justified in my opinions. I stated why I dislike the show, and the only real refutations I've heard so far are that I don't understand it and I sound dumb. I hope you can understand if I'm left wanting for a slightly better level of discussion than that.

I guess I fail to see the point in (this/any) thread if it's just meant to be an echo chamber for people who love the show. I certainly don't want to stop anyone from discussing why they like it (and it's not as though I could anyhow), but to shout down any dissenting opinions seems really weird. How much do you guys have invested in this show?

Well, you didn't really try to justify your opinions, but you don't have to.

There's nothing to refute, as you just said "I don't like Donovan", so there's not going to be a very high level of discussion about that.

I don't think you're dumb, I just found it odd that you essentially said, "The only thing I don't like about BURN NOTICE is the focal point of the show." It's a weird statement. Doubly weird since it's the first time I've ever heard of someone disliking Donovan's performance.

And if you think you're being shouted down here, you're in for a surprise should you ever wander into a thread for a more popular/contentious show... wear a flak jacket.

Pretty decent. I thought it was going to be more of a real spy show, not so much A-Team. After watching two episodes I'm not completely sold on it yet, but I get why people like it. Good leads, fun premise, plenty of girls in bikinis. So, what's with the choppy editing? I usually don't mind in-your-face transitions on TV, but its just so poorly done here.

honestly, it gets better as it goes as a tv show.
