Lenscrafters - Page 2

A couple of the sites that the Glassy Eyes blog Slate linked to have virtual "try on" links. I didn't bother since I'm at work but I plan on trying that out.

EDIT: Devin, post where you order from and how it goes when you get that far. I'm looking at that goggles4u just based on the size of their inventory.

Exactly, much like shoes or pants. You tend to have try them on before buying.

Except when I bought some chucks online. Those tend to stay pretty consistent.

I buy all my shoes from Zappos now.

I've been wearing glasses for about five years now (and still hate the things), I guess. I've had my lenses updated many times since I got my first pair, but only got my second frames ever a couple of weeks ago and this has been my first experience with Lenscrafters. I got a pair of flexible titanium frames with anti-reflective coating and this whole ordeal cost me around $400 all total (after my insurance discount). Seems high to me even given the options I went with. But my curse has always been that I'm too picky for such an unwealthy guy. Like most things, I think this is a get-what-you-pay-for situation. I used Wal-Mart for my past two pairs of lenses and they sucked. Those lenses always ended up with bunches of little pits/indentions. Why? I don't know. But it was the same thing with two sets of lenses I got from them over the course of two years. As someone else here suggested, don't skimp around too much when it comes to your vision. Lenscrafters sure didn't feel like 'skimping' to me, but so far it's been worth it. It's not like you'd be lowering your sights (pun intended) going with them, Devin.

Word. Never got the concern on buying shoes online. Your foot is going to be close to 1/2 size one way or the other, and Zappos has a killer return policy. Even some dress shoes I bought from Doc Marten not fitting right weren't a problem, I had replacements in no time.

Hopefully a profitable one. Nick's a small business owner, he probably does not have health care either. It is called the price of freedom.
