I kinda like Red Heat - its certainly more fun than Raw Deal - but its still not vintage Arnie.

RED HEAT is the Arnold film I wish I loved more. All the elements are there. Arnold, Walter Hill, Ed O'Ross, and James Horner once again recycling his 48 HOURS score.

But in the end it just doesn't do much that wasn't done better in so many other films in the decade. I naturally just always blame Belushi, though I don't know if anybody else would have made the film that much better.

You know how I enjoy RED HEAT, but it's all about Walter Hill for me. The guy just knows how to push my buttons.

Again, I don't think it's awful by any means. Just unspectacular. Especially considering for Hill that it was sandwiched right in between EXTREME PREJUDICE and JOHNNY HANDSOME.

Yeah, but it doesn't feel like Walter Hill. Plays like a knock-off (especially following up Extreme Prejudice.
A damn shane cuz his directing of Schwarzenegger shoulda been up there with the Milius & Cameron collaborations. (Only thing that might've jazzed it up, is maybe Nolte repeating his Cates character instead of Jim Belushi. Just spit-ballin')

We're all basically in agreement on Red Heat. I probably like it more than you guys, but I'm not trying to put it in the same league as Prejudice or Johnny Handsome, or The Driver or Southern Comfort... You get the idea.
