East Bound and Down - Page 3

Terrence, I don't tell you how to principal so I don't think you should tell me how to teach band.
This is the best show on TV right now. So, so good. Gordon Green is owning the balance between sadism and moments of genuine pathos for Kenny.
This is actually pretty damn good. Every week is killing it for me. The nudity also helps. A good show overall that is pretty funny.
WOW.

"A lot of men do what you did."
"What? Make moral decisions?"
Just gets better and better. Going to be sorry to see it end.

Yeah, I hope we get something similar next season. Not a straight sequel, just something in this format by the same guys.
That was an amazing way to end an episode.

"Hey, NO BUNTS! NO BUNTING!"
I found the ending to episode five oddly touching.
I didn't notice until today that Craig Robinson was actually in the pilot (not the leaked version).
I actually cheered when Kenny hit Robinson's character and said, "Kenny Powers is BACK!" I love how the makers have reversed the morals on this show in an almost manipulative way, to the point where the worse Kenny acts, the more the audience loves him.

"I hope we get in a car crash right now!"

For me, it was all about Stevie showing up to the pitch off with the steroids Kenny needed.
He pitched the motherfuckers eye out.
Reg: Who the fuck is this guy?
Stevie: Who the fuck are you, huh? WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU?!

Another awesome episode.
The guy who plays Stevie is gonna blow up after this. By blow up I mean show up in a lot of Ferrell/McKay films and Jody Hill/McBride films and maybe even some Apatow stuff.
I'm heartened and saddened by this turn of events. I guess when you start Season 2 Office dark, you can only go here. And I think it works because they went so far down that there was probably no place left to go. But the hand gesture Kenny made to talk about April's body made me want a full episode of boring Kenny.

The first thing Kenny says of substance to April is "Nah, I didn't really just cum my pants." I feel that this is going to reward repeat viewings like a motherfucker.
I'm just like you now Dustin, calm and weak.
I think this show elevated itself to greatness with the latest episode. I figured they were going to go with the return of the Kenny's arm but the way they went about it was excellent. Even Ferrell's Flair impersonation was good this time!
This show took shit someplace new and exciting with episodes 4 and 5.
I thought Jonas Brothers jokes were played out. I was wrong.

"Remember me, my chinks."
Was that an homage to Five Easy Pieces?
How shocked was I after binging on all 5 episodes yesterday, then watching the finale tonight to visit this thread for the first time and see "chinks in his armor" in the first post from August?!!?

Anyways, loved the series, loved Mcbride, saw the ending coming but didn't want to. I was yelling at my TV when Kenny did what he did (i dont know how to make spoiler tags). Would be interesting to see another season.
What a fantastic series. People are going to be asking Danny McBride about future episodes for years.
I hope they do more, but I'm cool if they don't.

"I cost $6,000." (burst of flame)

Also the boob reveal has to be one of the best meta jokes ever. "Fuck that button."
“When you started this job you were just an assistant, but you’ve graduated. When I first met you, I’ll be honest with you. You were a little bitch. But now I’m looking at you, and to me you seem like a dude who knows what’s up. You don’t take shit from anybody. You smoke weed on the reg. Quite frankly, you’re somebody I’m proud to know. And you’re someone who deserves a whole hell of a lot more than being an assistant.”

Fucking great show. It just got better and better. The finale was just about perfect.
I don't think McBride is ever going to top "Listen up you beautiful bitch, I'm about to fuck you up with some truth."
His ability to play the same character who has gone on a spiritual journey, that we can how he's changed, but how he's exactly the same totally elevates this into something beyond. I also love how Kenny has this sort of, I want to call it knightly, desire to overexplain things. He makes pointless exposition hilarious.

This show is awesome. In it's purest form.
I'm so torn. I'd love another batch of episodes but what they gave us is absolutely perfect.
This show was great. Love the way they handeled the boobs reveal.
I wouldn't mind if they did another season, but nothing more after that (I think Hill and McBride have said 2 is the most they want to do). But the ratings reportedly haven't been very good, so I doubt it's even in the cards. God, what a fantastic show.
"Let's fuck the kids!"

How could I have missed this wonderful fucking show..... This is why I regularly visit this site, would have completely missed out on it... Don't know what else to add , but doing blow off a shotgun is funny

Even when the pointless exposition is explaining that he's gone on a spiritual journey, that he's changed, but that he's still exactly the same.

Caught up to the final 2 eps last night, and goddamn. What a fucking 1-2 punch of incredible. Hard to see how a 2nd run could deliver without mining the same jokes, but I'd never underestimate these guys, ever, after this series.

I think lousy marketing is part of the reason for less than stellar ratings. I didn't know about the show until I saw an ad on a website and said "Hey, that looks like Danny McBride". The ad sucked, and said nothing about the show. I had to Google it to find out what it was about. This was less than a week before the first episode aired.

brilliant. i loved it from beginning to end. There was a lull in the middle of the show, but if taken as a big 3 hour movie as Hill/Mcbride/Best said it was designed, it makes the latter half of the show all the more satisfying.

Kenny Powers is a TV icon as far as im concerned.
I wasn't sure about this to start with. Funny, crude, some really great stuff but it also made me wince at times and not in a good way.

In the end, enjoyed it. A shit-ton of memorable lines.

I'm going to pretend those weren't stunt boobs too.

Word around the web is that this has been renewed for a second season, which will shoot later this year and air in 2010. Apparently it's been confirmed by HBO. Hell yes, you're fuckin' out, Eastbound & Down season 2 is fuckin' in.
hell ya bitches!
He's fucking in!
So happy. I love that HBO has been hands off and let the guys do whatever they feel like.

Everyone needs to check out the extras on the dvd. There's a little segment titled "Stevies Secret". Thats some dark, dark shit right there.

Well shit. I had disc 1 but already sent it back to Netflix. I'll have to check the extras on disc 2 when I get it tomorrow.

I finally watched this. Between this, Foot Fist Way, and the goddamn excellent Observe and Report, I think Jody Hill might just be an artist with as much talent and as distinct a voice as Wes Anderson. He's cornered the market on detestable fucked up characters that you empathize with completely. I think I prefer Kenny Powers to David Brent, as far as it goes. It's certainly funnier than The Office.

So I just got some junk mail tonight, pre-approving me for a Visa Black card. I kind of want to fill it out just to use the Jonas Brothers line someday.

Been exposing friends to this left and right, and they each end up watching it all the way through: "Man, one more, then I GOT to head out." 2 hours later, they're trying not to piss themselves during Stevie's Dark Secret.

I'd lend it out, but there's always more people to turn on. And for me, it's crazy how I'm not sick of this yet.
Shit-ton of new episodes to start filming in Puerto Rico.
Oh, yeah!
Oh, man. Can't wait to see who they cast for the father. (Fingers crossed for Joe Don Baker.)
