Decision at Sundown
Buchanan Rides Alone
Ride Lonesome
Comanche Station

A Man Can do That (which is awesome, having caught it a year ago)

Excitement:
High

Also brought to you by SEVEN MEN FROM NOW, which if you haven't seen, see immediately.

Now if we could just get Warner to release WESTBOUND, we'd have one hell of an awesome collection going on.

And, regarding boner action, agreed.

Very, VERY jealous right now. Did they take good care of the transfers? No one should fuck around waffling on buying this thing; just do it. Nike.

Absolutely awesome.

Now, please, about The Bullfighter and the Lady...

The transfers are great for the time period, and the films in scope look fucking outstanding. Three commentaries, all films have intros. Having just seen two at the new Bev, it was just fun to dive head in.

And if anyone is eyeing this and doesn't want the five to start get SEVEN MEN FROM NOW ASAP.

They didn't have this at Best Buy so I have to head over to Amazon. I still hate buying shit on the internet.

This pretty much sums up my life as of late.

Dre, your good words, coupled with the beaver's images, sells this thing tremendously. Just a reminder for those with taste to pick this bad boy up while supplies last.

What an amazing, amazing set. The transfers are pretty damn good considering the period. The only fault I can find is that I wish the menus were a little more creative, but that is pretty insignificant. A MAN CAN DO THAT is also really amazing.

Great,great, stuff.
These will be an eye opener for those who only know Randolph Scott as a joke in "Blazing Saddles".
His final line in "Buchanan Rides Alone" is just classic.
And Warners should get off it's ass and give us Westbound.

Finally people can back me up that Alex Ross' Superman looks exactly like Randolph Scott.

Got this for Christmas too, but it's killing me that I haven't made time to watch ANY OF IT yet. It sits atop the entertainment center, giving me the crook-eye and loudly mocking my manhood. Anyway, my dad said he saw what I asked for and thought, "Who?" Then saw THE TALL T on the back of the box and almost bought 2 sets.

Goddammit. This weekend, I swear it.

First of all I wanted to thank you guys for introducing me to his work. I loved "Seven Men From Now" and was a bit worried that his five westerns included in this set would be lesser movies. Fortunately for me, only "Decision Before Sundown" didn't impress (I still liked it). Maybe because it felt like a more traditional, classical western that didn't have that many qualities that made Boetticher such an influential director.

"Ride Lonesome" is probably my absolute favorite. It is pretty much flawless film that at first glance seems like a very simple revenge story, but is so much more. For me, this film perfected two Boetticher trademarks - a likeable villain and the whole "Scott ride alone and has quite a past" theme.

"The Tall T", "Comanche Station" and to a lesser extent "Buchanan Rides Alone" were great too. I have to rewatch "Buchanan" again, because I really loved it until all the little plot twists near the climax took me out of the movie a bit. I guess it's my own fault as it was the last movie I saw and probably wasn't ready to see a bit different (less bleak) character played by Scott.

I think RIDE LONESOME is close to a masterpiece. It's such a slow burn of a film, and when it hits that final (stunning) end shot, it really delivered an epiphany, for me anyway, of what filmmakers could do with such a short amount of time with such sparseness and clarity.

"That figures."

Ride Lonesome has always been my favorite. I'm so happy that it and the others have finally escaped from obscurity.
