TNA iMPACT! or "Probable Failure: The Game"

Wow. I just read aninterview over at ps3.ign.com (sorry for not posting a direct link to the interview, my "smart phone" can't copy and paste) and apparently, this game is gonna be a turd. the Midway designer used the "this is our first game" excuse waaay to many times when asked questions about game content and features. the PS2 and Wii versions are not going to have create a wrestler because it was "too hard" to implement. the PS2 and Wii (unlike all the other versions) will feature combos. they motion capped 2000 plus moves, but there are few (if any) signature moves, and only a small selection of those 2000 moves will be available, to the extent that some wrestlers share movesets. on the plus side, the game will feature crisp animation.

I really wanted this game to be good, but judging from this interview, I really don't see anything to be excited about. Has anyone here heard or seen anything remotely positive about this? it seems like Midway is bracing themselves for a failure of giant proportions.

edit: realized I didn't include a lot of what was in that interview (having to type on my phone sucks)so here's the link to the interview:

anyone else as disappointed as I am?

Off the cuff here, you're first mistake is attempting to believe anything that spawns from TNA could be possibly good. Secondly, it's fucking TNA Impact!

I think it's reasonable that an established company like Midway should be able to put together a decent video game after it's been in development for over two years. I'm not expecting the second coming or anything, but damn.

Secondly, I'm not a TNA mark, at all. In fact, I'm not much of a wrestling fan anymore, but I do still enjoy he games. Without this turning into a wrestling thread, I think that TNA has some good talent and has on occasion been entertaining, so I figure being able to get a good game using this talent should be doable.

Third, I guess I was just surprised to read that Midway rep basically admitting that the game was gonna be subpar. They had one good thing to say about the game, and they just said it over and over.

I really wanted to see the Smackdown series get some competition, but from the looks of things that won't be happening this year.

Well, you're reasonable enough in your reply to my, admittedly, jackass post. I hope the game turns out well for you. Sorry for busting your chops.

Considering how terrible the WWE games have been for the last 5 years, I would have liked to see a good next-gen wrestling title. Oh well, maybe they'll make a new Fire Pro for the Xbox 360.

My opinion? Go back to the roots of Wrestlemania Arcade. Wrestling doesnt take itself seriously and neither should the games.
