Perfect CD. Holy shit. I thought it wouldn't hold up.

God, I hate The Darkness.

You'd be better off lighting a candle.

I agree with Sean, actually. If you go beyond the image, it's as catchy and as sneakily smart and funny as good Cheap Trick (actually, probably funnier).

I'll stand up for 'em, too. Highly entertaining.

Yet another reason why I'm a fan of Mr. Dickson.

The frontman (I won't call him a singer) needs to go away and never be heard from again. That being said, the music itself isn't half bad.

If you hate the singer, check out the Stone Gods. It's the Darkness with a different singer. Definitely not as catchy or witty, but 'You Brought a Knife to a Gunfight' is actually kinda badass.

That's scary. I was thinking today about how I haven't listened to The Darkness in quite sometime when "Black Shuck" came on my iPod. Had to take it off shuffle and listen to the whole album. I think I'm one of ten people that really like One Way Ticket to Hell, although it's insanely uneven and just about falls apart at the seems six tracks in.

I kind of concur with this. I never got the attraction. But of course when these guys hit it big. I was in the throws of a short-lived HIM obsession back with an intense devotion to AFI (No, I didn't wear make up). Man, the shit I got into when I was in college.

Sad to say it was the same shit a lot of people were into at high school at the time also.

That album's pretty alright. The goofiness and production excesses are set to overload, which works for and against it, really.

More like "The Suckness"

Both albums by The Darkness are nearly flawless.

I pity the people who don't like those songs, because they're fucking GREAT.

Say what you will about The Darkness, "Growing On Me" is the best song about genital warts ever written.

I had to work on that one for like, 5 seconds before I posted.

Like they don't know they're XL t-shirt worthy? It's the lack of pretense that makes them wonderful.

They even managed the substance abuse.
What I love about the Darkness is that they're genuine. No po-mo irony or any posturing, just a sense of humor and straight up arena rock. They look like they crawled right out of the '70s, ugly with substance abuse issues and VDs intact. If you love rock & roll (genital) warts and all, you have to give these guys some props. I was pretty bummed when I heard Justin Hawkins quit the band. Dig both albums.

Last i heard and saw of Justin Hawkins was when he stormed off the stage live on television when he didnt get picked during the United Kingdom qualifying for our entry into eurovision.
