Book Of Lies

Thread Starter
So, Brad Meltzer's new book Book of Lies comes out today. I've only read Meltzer's mediocre comic books, but I've heard people speak highly of his novels. Seems he's gone of the rails this time though, as the book, trying to be all DaVinci code-ish with someone looking for the weapon that Cain used to kill Abel but somehow also trying to fit in the murder of Jerry Siegel's father. Jerry Siegel was the co-creator of Superman of course. The stuff about Jerry Siegel's father being murdered by a gunman tying into why someone would create a bulletproof man seemed interesting, but from the reviews it appears it's as big a mess as the description makes it sound like.

So anyone planning to read it?

I've been getting a lot of press from Meltzer regarding the book, but even so I'm just not sure if it interests me. I even received a paper mail invitation to a couple signings he's doing in my area...which means that probably the only way I do buy the book is if I make one of those.

I have the same hang ups with the basic premise of the book as you do. Also, it seems Meltzer's previous novels were of the law fiction genre, which I'm just not into.

I don't know. I think I'll just continue reading Peter David's Tigerheart for my fix on comic book writers doing novels thing.

I really liked the jerry siegel angle, but, thats all i think i'd like. the whole da vinci code aspect turns me off.

I thought you meant the Crowley 'Book of Lies' when I saw the thread.

While I enjoy that, can't say I'd recommend it to just anyone. Ha.

I tried reading his last book. Lost interest quick. Speaking of writers who have the skids: John Sandford.
