Obama on O'Reilly Factor

Do you guys think this will be one of the deciding factor's of the Presidential Election?

I mean Obama has to address Palin's "brilliant" speech last night, but he can't take her on directly cause that makes Palin on his level.

I have a feeling this might be big.
We'll find out kinda tonight. According to sources in one of the other threads the interview has been prerecorded in the other thread. Excerpts tonight (Thursday) and full interview some time next week.

Tangential to this is Obama's appearance on Countdown this coming Monday.
It's just O'Reilly. I think it'll ultimately be merely a blip on the radar.

This is Bullshit. This proves that O'Reilly in the can for McCain. ANY OTHER CABLE NEWS PROGRAM would gladly show the first Obama interview after Palin's ratings grabbing speech.

O'Reilly is missing an oppertunity to Quadruple his ratings tonight.
EVERYBODY wants to see Obama get interviewed by a right wing commentator..

EDIT: This is so he would have something to go against Keith Olbermann. Bill is so fucking petty.

Did I miss something?

The interview is already in the can. So yeah, they're holding it.

Now, they couldn't really air it tonight in primetime no? Aren't they obligated to give equal coverage to the convention?
Pre recorded and we're only getting bits and pieces? Uh oh.

Quote:
O'Reilly: Some criticism has been thrown at you for not having an actual economic platform. What do tell those voters who have no idea where you're coming from?

Obama: First I want them to be assured that I DO NOT plan on raising taxes on anyone with an income of less than $150,000 a year. At the same time I will give tax breaks in the form of reducing payroll taxes which will effect the middle class more than any other form of taxation.

I can hardly believe that this whole interview deal hasn´t been done without a whole army of lawyers on each side. And the Obama camp won´t agree that this one is scheduled in direct competition to Olberman. I can´t simply fathom they will. Or will they?
I doubt they're going to do that. O'Reilly said he was going to air the full interview next week, but I could be wrong. Maybe they're planning for tomorrow.

He did say he was going to air some parts of it tonight.

It is that Simpson's episode all over again.
Billy will probably air the interview over several days like he did with Hillary.
Yes, that's it. He did the same with Hillary. He milked it quite a bit.

Kind of lame, but that's how Billy "rolls".

I just told all my political friends to watch O'Reilly tonight. Thanks Bill for making me out to be a liar.

And here we go ...

"Obama: Surge Succeeded Beyond ‘Wildest Dreams’"

Oh jeez, cue up the "he was against the Surge before he was for it!" yelps.
Obama should limit himself to the answers "yes" and "no". No sense feeding the trolls.

Jesus Fucking Christ. Great thing to say just before McCain makes his acceptance speech. NEVER APOLOGIZE. Bush hasn't for the war, why should you for the surge's success.

As long as you can clearly see that the tape is paused, and the clock is all over the place in the background. Then comes the Fox movie of the week "Barack Obama: Portrait of an Ass Grabber"
To be fair, all he said was consistant with what he's been saying: the surge worked because we sent in more troops. More troops = things are safer. But eventually our troops HAVE to come home, and Iraq can't stand on its own two feet. So all the surge did was put a band aid on a larger wound. Of course, they split this up so most people will just read the quote and that's it.

But even the quote, if you look at logically, is far from a concession of any kind. He's basically saying 'you guys made a dumb decision and lucked into something positive.'

Since I already mentioned the Simpson's. Maybe Obama should say that Bush and McCain "pulled a homer"
Sounds like we have another "Saddleback" on our hands here. I hope the Obama campaign made their own tape. This is going to get edited to hell.

Not to mention that you could ask any ten random neocons what the surge was actually intended to do, and 7 or 8 of them would have no idea.

McCain has not yet defined what "victory" or "winning" in Iraq means. I wish someone in the "librul media" would ask him.
I swear on my life, I have never seen the intro to the O'Reilly Factor before tonight (or more than 3-4 min of the show at all, for that matter).

Did that pointing, catch-phrasing shtick predate The Colbert Report, or did he sort of assume it ironically, like McLaughlin incorprating Dana Carvey's "WROONNG!" after a sketch cracked him up?

I just find it hard to believe he's naturally that cheesy on top of the scumbucketry. Amazing.
I need some live commentating on this! So get going guys!
Still teasing the Obama interview.

This is my longest exposure to O'Reilly in one sit. Fuck me, this is unbearable. How do people sit and listen to this idiot.

My brain needs Lava soap.
The Obama interview ... "Will he convince you that he is a 'Terror Warrior © '" ... next in the O'Reilly Factor.

Haven't watched his show in such a long time, at least he is still consistent, still a pompous idiot.
"Next up, the Obama intervieeeeww! [this segment centering on foreign policy] Can HE protect YOU? Can he convince you he's a TERROR WARRIOR?"

Sweet suffering Satan.
I wanna thank you guys for taking the bullet for me on this. I can't bring myself to watch.
My 7 year old daughter "Can't he finish talking? He doesn't let Obama finish talking". Direct quote.

O'Reilly "Diplomacy ... yeah yeah yeah ..."

Geez.
O'Reilly: Unctuous compliment followed by long-winded hypothetical. Challenge!

Obama: Careful explana--

O'Reilly: Not the narrative!
I missed it....and I didn't miss it.

So how did it ultimately go? I imagine, in the end, just a blip, right?
I missed it as well. I honestly can not sit through an O'Reilly interview even if he's talking to Obama. I loathe the man with the heat and fury of a thousand suns. I'll catch snippets on YouTube.

I much rather watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1iRTy...eature=related

Were those coherent statements? They just seem like random words strung together.
Is the "Terror Warrior" shit for real, or am I just pretty drunk?
O'Reilly comes off as pretty shrill. And uppity.

Even after a half-dozen years of pointing and laughing, it still saddens and confuses me that people eat that shit up.

They're already attacking Obama on his surge succeeded beyond wildest dreams comment.
Remember, a president isn't allowed to ever change his mind, even when confronted with overwhelming evidence that his initial assumptions were wrong.
I can understand where Obama's coming from, but tactically, O'Reilly got him there. There's going to have to be some work done, now.

I think as Obama said, he already admitted that in terms of casualties that the surge worked beyond anyone wildest dreams. I think he specifically mentioned it in a speech to a crowd in Pennsylvania. The best thing about the interview is that it should reinforce why people like Obama. The man is not afraid to look the devil in the eye, and answer questions from a man who hates him and is trying to nail him. I'd love to see McCain and Palin get interviewed by the left's equivelent of O'Reilly. It won't happen.

Obama has no fear, and I doubt he'll lose a single vote, he may gain one or two from men who were waiting to see him admit that the surge worked. Here's hoping.
