The Ghostbusters Appreciation Thread - Page 8

It's not that I didn't notice him being locked out of his apartment. It's that I didn't connect it with him ending up as the Keymaster.
I never noticed the running gag either. But I've seen Ghostbusters four times over 26 years so I'll thank you for a pass.
Oh I noticed him always getting locked out of places....that you can't miss.

I just never connected it as an in-joke with him becoming the "keymaster."

Same here.

I always got that "Keymaster/Gatekeeper" was a sex joke, but never connected the locked-out thing either.

Yeah, Greg, as the others have said, it's the locked out/Keymaster connection that I missed all of these years and not the fact that he was getting locked out in the first place. Again, duh. So, so obvious.

And who's to say it wasn't Vinz Clortho screwing around with Louis throughout the film. Zuul was just hanging out in Dana's Fridge making eggs cook on the counter and referring to itself in the third person, so it's not a huge stretch.

I'm so happy that there is a Ghostbusters Appreciation Thread on here.

My favorite moment is Ghostbusters is at the beginning when Venkman is performing the psychic test on the two students. In particular, it's the moment where we know Venkman doesn't really care about the answers, he just keeps zapping the nerdy guy to keep in with the hot blond. But the exact moment I love is the last question and the guy actually gives the right answer about seeing "a couple of wavy lines", but Venkman doesn't even notice that they guy got the right answer because he doesn't care.

I love moments in movies where something happens that only the audience is aware of and the characters are not.

At the risk of saying something unpopular, Venkman is my least favorite Ghostbusters. This scene has always rubbed me the wrong way.

Ray was always my favorite. So I found out there was a Ghostbusters role playing game that was released in the mid 1980's. My mission... To get a copy. ....

Finally! lol

Honestly, if it's as half as good a parody as the Batman porn and just as funny, count me in.  Shot it 3D!  Finally something to show of my fancy 3DTV!

There's the obvious gags/fuck scenes like Ray's ghostly BJ.  Luis "Key Master" Tully screwing Dana "Gate Keeper" Barret.  But what about Stay Puft?  Is he just gonna be a giant cum monster?

Hustler Video Wraps 'This Ain't Ghostbusters XXX 3D'
Feb 09th, 2011 11:16 AM

CANOGA PARK, Calif. - Monday wrapped the final day of shooting for Hustler Video's upcoming 3D parody release, This Ain't Ghostbusters XXX 3D. Filmed on set at the Hustler Video studios, this parody, directed by Axel Braun, boasts 3D special effects.

"This movie is all about the special effects," Braun said. "When we did our Avatar parody, it was all about filming a porno film in 3D. But this movie is all about the 3D special effects. You're going to be blown away at what a proton pack can do in 3D."

This Ain't Ghostbusters XXX 3D will be available in 3D on DVD and Blu-ray in May.

"With the cast from the original film being such Hollywood icons, our actors had some serious shoes to fill," said Rob Smith, director of operations for Hustler Video. "However, they did an exemplary job and you honestly won't believe how well they mimic the original cast; especially the guys who play the roles initially portrayed by Bill, Dan, Ernie and Harold. They're hilarious!"

The complete list of characters from the new Hustler Video parody is as follows:

Dr. Peter Venkman - Evan Stone
Dr. Egon Spengler - James Deen
Dr. Raymond Stanz - Alec Knight
Winston Zeddmore - Tee Reel
Dana Barrett - Raven Alexis
Louis Tully - Jeremy Conway
Gozer - Jennifer Dark
1950's MILF Monster - Lisa Ann
Ghost Librarian - Alexis Texas
College Student - Lily LaBeau
Janine Melnitz - Sarah Shevon

So when you get a 3DTV for Christmas remember nothing goes better with it than Hustler videos!"

I'm not sure how many of them were produce, but when I was 5 or 6 I got one of the RPG books for my birthday.  I was very confused by it... I'm sure whoever got it for me jjust saw  "Ghostbusters" and threw it in the shopping cart.

EDIT:  FOUND IT!

"Scared Stiffs" is a better porno title than "This Ain't..."

Evan Stone playing Venkman - of course.

Not the first GB themed porno. I remember seeing an in-costume "meeting" of a Key Master and Gate Keeper (Shyla Stylz) online within the past couple years. EDIT: NSFW, but google search "nutbusters ghostbusters spoof".

So there was some news about Bill Murray signing up for a Ghostbusters 3 & 4..any truth to this?

Also, about that Roleplaying game, I was lucky to find a website that had everything scanned so all I need to do is print it out and play.  I've found the game online still in its box and it is very very expensive.

Here is the site if anyone is curious

Not sure, but I expected a CHUD article, considering all the multiplying threads hinting about it yesterday.

As was I, and checking with Aintitcool it seems like this is still a rumor.

SDCC Stay-Puft

It's nice and all, but I don't feel the need to replace my older one.

As a kid I didn't get Egon's line about "feeling like the floor of a taxi cab". Now it's my favorite line of the movie as it's soo fucking filthy.

...and now I get it too.  There aren't words to express my love of this movie.

This is the one movie that grows with you as you get older.

I'm in a strange spot where I know I want this, but I also know that I would never EVER wear it in public.

Eh, I could see using it to stow gear while snowboarding, but, as cool as it is, probably not...

I saw it on the big screen at my local theater last night. It was pure awesomeness, especially since I went with some friends, two of which had inexplicably never seen it before and ended up loving it. Stuff I noticed this time around:

-With surround sound, you can really hear Stay-Puft's steps of doom approaching before he appears, and it just adds to the greatness of the full reveal. He's still easily one of my favorite movie monsters of all time.

-Possessed Louis imitating Peck's pointing finger in the scene where he forces them to shut off the power grid.

-After the boys destroy the maid's cart in the hotel, you can see her trying to put out the small fires with a spray bottle when the guys are talking again in the foreground.

-I forgot how great Elmer Bernstein's score was, going from whimsical and funny to legitimately apocalyptic and epic. I especially love the heroic buildup to "Let's show this prehistoric bitch how we do things downtown!" And even aside from the great Ray Parker, Jr. theme song, the other pop songs are also utilized well.

-Not only is there the Stay-Puft bag in Dana's apartment, there's also a park bench with a Stay-Puft advertisement painted on it!

-The wonderful proton-pack sound effects are incredibly.... beefy in surround.

-It's much more clear that Walter Peck is the one who gets doused with the most marshmallow goo on the big screen.

-There's been some discussion elsewhere on whether Walter Peck had a point, but watching it again he's clearly a humorless dick on a power trip. Peter isn't messing with him out of malice in the beginning, and asking why Peck wants to see the storage facility is rather reasonable. Peck immediately gets hostile, though, so Peter gets hostile back.

God, I love every inch of this movie.

I saw it up in Minneapolis last week. Really fun on the big screen and a blast with a great crowd. Now I can finally say I saw GB on the big screen. Which is odd it took me this long considering what a giant GB fan I am.

Peter is a smarmy dick from the get go, and while he's within his rights to ask why, it's not like he genuinely doesn't understand.  It's him who points out that they all have unlicensed nuclear accelerators on their backs earlier, after all.

Not that this matters.  Peter may be a smarmy dick, but he's our smarmy dick, so screw that other smarmy dick.

Heh, I guess that's true.
