"I know the hunt is on; they're pulling out all the stops," said a Defense Department official with knowledge of the situation who asked not to be named. "They are leaving no stone unturned. They want to find bin Laden before the president leaves office and ensure that al Qaeda will not attack the U.S. during the upcoming elections."

Of course, but waiting until now to do it is dirty fucking pool.

I predict they "find his bones" in a cave somewhere in Afghanistan.

Anthrax investigation "solved." WTC 7 "solved." Bin Laden "dead." End of line.

A) I hope they get him post-haste.

B) Politically this is probably a wash at this point. I'm not sure if many people are going to consider catching Bin Laden just before the election a "success" for the Bush Administration and the GOP by proxy.

It's at least as likely that the perception of a reduced terrorist threat would help Obama.

The Washington Times is 100% unreliable.

You want to get Bin Laden in October, you stick a razorblade in one of those peanut butter candies that come in the orange and brown wrappers, then wait for him to ring your doorbell. Duh.

Wouldn't that sort of weaken all of McCain's "gates of Hell" rhetoric though?

Didn't even notice that was the link, but yeah. Nevermind. Although I heard something to this effect elsewhere a few months ago.

Even if they got Bin Laden. That still doesn't solve the shit economy. And yeah The Washington Times is a newsource that must be taken with a big grain of salt.

Maybe not in the reality-based community, but I'm not so sure we're in Kansas anymore.

While I agree that the Moonie Times' sources are suspect, the fact that we're currently conducting military operations in Pakistan has been confirmed by several news organizations.

The last time there was any substantive talk about getting him was about this time, four years ago.
