I just fought a pit bull

I was walking my dog and some dude's pitbull broke free of it's chain and attacked my small dog. I fought the dog, punched it, kicked it threw it across the street. He said it wasn't his fault. My dog is OK but she has some bites. I'm jacked full of adrenaline. I never thought I had it in me.

You should edit that in case legal types come looking.

On one hand, not a bad idea. On the other hand, how traceable would that be (unless everyone knows him as Aquafresh, that is)?
The pitbull might get very clever legal representation. Johnny Cocker Spaniel is already interested in the case.
Guy posts about his day job here a bunch. I don't know how traceable, but my first reaction (admittedly as a 'public figure') is not to post stuff like that.

If a guy has a large breed dog and hasn't trained it well enough to not break free of its leash and attack other dogs, he deserves a punch in the face.

I highly doubt he's a chewer. He was a local Mexican guy. Not to be racist or anything.
Was the pitbull wearing lipstick? It may have been Sarah Palin.

No fucking shit. The thing that pissed me off most was his denial of culpability. It's something that infruiates me most about our society, no one is willing to accept blame.

You are right and thanks.
Thank god this type of thing only happens on the West Coast...

Seriously though, that must have been one pussy ass pit bull. You threw it across the street? What was it, a puppy?
You need a new suit.

No, it was huge. I can't believe I did it.

My ex-girlfriends brother owned two pits (he lived in Staten Island) that he always had to keep separate cause they'd fight if they saw each other, so every time I'd go over there one would be barking behind a closed door while the other was out. One time when I was there his daughter opened the door to get in the room and the pit came charging out and immediately went for the other one, and really, the last thing you want to do is get in the middle of two pits fighting, but her brother just jumps right in (in his boxers) like its nothing and starts wrestling with the damn dogs. Eventually he got them separated, but not before destroying the living room and getting a nice bite on his leg that required some stitches.

Needless to say, from that point on I knew not to do anything stupid with that girl or else I'd get some crazy Italian from Staten Island with two pits coming after me.

The thing is, I love dogs, and I don't think that pit bulls are inherently bad. This guy was just a retard who had no idea how to properly contain his animal. The blame is all on him.

I called animal services but they are closed for the weekend. Great. I'm glad that Los Angeles has figured out that animals only attack during business hours.
Oh, there's no way Pit Bulls are inherently bad, they just tend to be very protective and territorial, and you don't want to wind up on their bad side cause their incredibly strong animals. And this guy your talking about must have been a total moron for not realizing just how strong these animals are (and the fact they don't much like other dogs).

The only problem is that the Pit might get the blame for what the owner should be responsible for. If you call animal control and say that dog attacked you (or your own dog) while you were walking, they may be inclined to put it down.

I don't want to punish the dog so much as I want to punish the owner. Is there a way to do that? I have a friend who adopts dogs.
Nah, my friend's kid got bitten by a dog while they were shopping in Hacienda Heights and all Animal Control ended up doing was taking the dog away from the owners and ticketing them. Pretty sure they ended up killing the dog. Humans rock!

Either way, glad that you were able to kick that sissyass pitbull around and save your own pet.
I fucking hate dogs.

No, no, wait, I should say I hate the slobbering, out of control, biting, snarling, clawing, dumb-as-posts dogs with even dumber owners that have no idea how to train them but keep them anyway.

Otherwise, I'm cool with the little puppies who enjoy a good belly scratch.

In Defense of the Pit Bull ...

... it sounds like it was a GOOD dog. You say it was huge, but it let you punch it, kick it, PICK IT UP AND THROW IT, and you got out of it without a bite? That pitty may have bitten your pet, but it apparently only bites other dogs. It left you alone.

So, as far as Animal Services goes, you've proven that the dog is safe. Even under provocation, it didn't bite you.

I believe that Aqua said many times he didn't want to hurt the dog, and it was all on the owner. Or did you not read that...
There's definitely a stigma attached to the breed in these parts as well. This was a big issue a few years ago. Personally, I think banning the breed outright is stupid. Maybe putting more restrictions on the owners is warranted, but saying every pit is bad is just dumb. Their incredibly protective dogs and if you raise them right they won't hurt any full grown person, or children if they were raised around them.

Maybe people who want to own pit bulls need to be fill out a permit and follow certain guidelines. Hell, just to own a reptile in this state you need a permit, and its not like you take your 7 foot Reticulated Python for a walk down the street.

I didn't say Aqua did anything wrong. I'd have done the same. I'm just saying the dog was a good dog, as far as hurting people is concerned. And isn't that what Animal Services cares about? Dogs that are vicious towards people?

No one ever does until it's go time. Good on you for saving your little dog.
Is it really that knee jerk? It's not like this is a new development. Responsible pit bull owners keep saying "oh, it's not the dogs, it's the owners" and people keep right on getting attacked by pit bulls. I agree it's not the dogs' fault. They're dogs, not people - they don't know they're doing something horribly wrong. That doesn't trump the welfare of the general public.

I just fought a pit bull
And I liked it.
Hope my neighbor don't mind it.

He's Mexican
And may be illegal
So he better keep it down
While I punch his dog's skull.

That the thing. No dogs are inherently aggressive, but the stronger races needs exercise. A lot of it, and most people who get pitbulls are doing it for the looks only. If you care for it, they're great dogs. Any dog can be a monster, but they each have a different threshold and impact. Banning is kinda the most simplistic reaction one can have; a permit might be a better solution.

I grew up with a pit bull. Her name was Princess. She was a sweet dog and I loved her. RIP Princess! <3 U 4 Ever

Malcolm Gladwell wrote an interesting piece about profiling and pitbulls a few years back. Pretty good stuff.

I would never fight, punch, kick or throw a dog who could talk to me. You should be ashamed. I mean, at the very least, you could have given it a chance to explain its actions.

There was something edited out of that post. I would never punch a talking dog.

Actually that beagle with Tobey Maguire's voice was pretty punchable. So scratch that I guess.

Perhaps what was edited out was a sense of common decency. For shame, Aquafresh, for shame.

Congrats on not getting raped by the pit.

Speaking of.

Did you mount the owner to show it who's boss?

The article doesn't say if the baby was a boy or a girl, but if it was a girl , the only thing I can say is that I'm glad that it wasn't a vaginal rape so she can still have kids of her own. A little baby's vagina would suffer permanent damage from a rape. That is seriously some horrifying shit. I can't imagine hearing a little baby scream in such pain like that. Absolutely horrifying.

I love animals, and I love dogs, but I am extremely wary of pits.

And BTW, SHAME ON THAT FUCKING MOTHER for leaving her goddamn child ALONE with the fucking thing. When will people learn? In every story like this, I always hear, "I only looked away for a second and then...."
So anal rape is better than vaginal rape? Who'da thunk it would be better for the victim as well as the rapist. Win-Win.

I think the least of that girls problems would be whether or not she could have children.

Don't get me wrong, rape by any means is terrible. I was just trying to say that the damage done would have been more catastrophic had it been a vaginal rape.
This story says it was a little boy.
Probably not vaginal rape then.

I can't decide if I should sig this:

Or this:
