Three Films At Calgary Film Fesival

If anyone is in or near Calgary on the weekend of Sept 19-21 three of the films I worked on are playing at the Calgary International Film Festival.

Secret of the Nutcracker is an interesting interpretation of the classic ballet by Tchaikovsky set in southern Alberta during World War Two. It has two really great performances by Janelle Jorde and Brian Cox plus nice work by the Calgary Philharmonic. I was Sound Effects Editor and Pro Tools Engineer (on the Philharmonic session). We recently won an AMPIA award for best sound for this one.

Freezer Burn: The Invasion of Laxdale is the latest Tom Green movie. It's a really odd little film involving hockey, crop circles and Crispin Glover. I was Sound Effects Editor on this one. Lots of fun in a very Tom Green way.

45 RPM is a quiet little coming of age movie set in small town Saskatchewan. Features Michael Madsen in a small role. Again, I was SFX editor.

I wish I was near enough to be there, but congratulations on all that excellent work.

I'm actually going to Freezer Burn out of that list, so I'll try and pay extra attention to the sound effects while viewing
