NHL 2008-2009 season and the 3rd jerseys! - Page 5

Price is young. Christ, he's like 20-21. He needs a vet to second him, because he is talented.

Now I hope the team plays pool tonight to relax.

He's a kid. Relax. Also, you've never heard of Jose Theodore?

Concerning the coaches: Vigneault and Therrien were shit in Montreal. They had good runs later because they went back down to learn their craft. Julien was a good coach in Montreal, but he wasn't the right one. The Canadiens now and then weren't built to play an ultra defensice/conservative style. Fuck I hated Julien's system, the games were an absolute bore.

I'm not for firing Carbonneau, but he needs to get his act together with the lines. It's been ridiculous ever since he's started. First thing he needs to learn is that shooter like Andreï Kostitsyn and Guimauve Latendresse need to play on their opposite sides. Like they've played throughout all of their careers before the CH.

Canes need to hang it up. God that wasn't even a game last night. I'm disgraced.

Is Brind'amour under contract for next season?

I don't think so, but most people are under the assumption he will be part of Canes management... assuming he doesn't come back next year (which NO ONE WANTS).
But he's so great at cheating at faceoffs!

The Hurricanes affiliate team The Albany River Rats were in a Bus Accident last night.

Not good. Luckily everyone walked away, but there are still some players in the hospital.

Bus crash

River Rats? What the fuck?

5 points separate 4th place and 9th place in the East Coast.

Canes play Ottawa tonight at Ottawa. Let's see if we don't choke again. It would be nice to move up in the standings

and they choked...

at least the sabres and panthers choked too.

trade deadline is over and the Hurricanes now have Erik Cole back. Weird.

Looks like the Bruins got tougher by acquiring Recchi.
We didn't do shit.

At least we didn't go for Jokinen, but Gaborik could have been really interesting if he wasn't made of glass. I guess the Panthers really asked too much for Jay-Bo.

Now, can we get Lecavalier this summer?
And Brodeur gets win #551 and ties it up with Roy. Not the most exciting game, but to see the opposing team's fans give a standing ovation to him was very touching. Can't think of a better place to do it than in your home town.

Just a matter of time before he captures sole lead, I suppose.
Better Brodeur than Roy, at least the man is classy and not a douche.

Um, Brodeur banged his sister in law a while back, so ya. Maybe less of a douche, but still.... Nice applause at the end for him

God, we outplayed Washington last night and still lost in the shootout.

We cant get higher than 8th place... and the bad news is the Hurricanes have played more games than the other teams.
Good God the Habs smell awful these days.

The last two games they were missing Kovalev, Latendresse and Lang. That's a lot of offense. They'll be alright when the first two return.

Fixed

The team didn't show up on Saturday. It was an embarrassment of epic proportions. They seem to get worse as the season wears on, and when you compound that shit with the fact Boston is tanking...

I disagree. They were playing against the best team in the east and were missing key components on offense. They held their own. They did ok.

About Latendresse, I'm not a big fan of his but there's no doubt he'd bring more offense playing with Higgins and Lapierre than Kostopoulos. I like Kosto, but him playing anywhere but the fourth line should only be a temporary measure.
Lang is out for the rest of the year. The team is kinda sucky right now, but I'll be happy if they make it to the playoffs.

They're really not that bad. Why is everybody talking like they're in tenth place?

When the injured come back (other than Lang who I even doubt will be back for the playoffs), the lines will look like this:

Tanguay - Koivu - A. Kostitsyn

Dagostini/Pacioretty - Plekanec - Kovalev

Higgins - Lapierre - Latendresse

Stewart - Metropolit - Kostopoulos

That's three lines who can score instead of one and a half we've had recently.

wow. Washington got Thrashed by Atlanta. They are just like the Hurricanes, highly inconsistent. The only difference is they have like 90 pts and the Canes are struggling in the 79 pt range.
Good ol' Theodore is the reason why I don't give much chances to the Capitals in the playoffs. He was replaced after four goals.
Theo played better with cocaine...

And the Habs suffers from a severe lack of leadership, not talent. Fuck Koivu. We need new blood as captain.

I don't get this thing about Koivu's lack of leadership. On what hard facts do people base these assumptions? Leadership is not something that is quantifiable. Unless players start directly questioning is position as a leader, I won't.

Gainey has now coached Koivu twice. If anyone knows leadership, it's him. He would have taken the "C" away from him if he thought that's waht the team needs.

Wht the Habs need is for Komisarek to stop playing like Brisebois, Kovalev needs to play like he wants to stay and Higgins needs to score more than every fifteen games.

2 weeks left in the season. Hurricanes just might stay in the playoffs if they keep winning. I'm shocked at their winning streak.
I'm amazed at the Ducks streak as well. I thought for sure they were dead the moment Kunitz was traded.

Carolina had a huge break and then played last night and won AGAIN!

We might have thwarted the Rangers dreams....

Carolina has another big game tomorrow agains the Pens.
Best of luck to Pyatt and his family. That really just must be awful.

My boys made the Playoffs by thumping the Pens on Saturday. The the Pens got thumped again by Florida...

I'm getting ready to buy playoff tickets tomorrow at noon!
Even though I'm a big Canucks fan I'm hoping against hope for Edmonton. They beat Van the other night, and hopefully a game against LA is an automatic win. If they can pull off a miracle and beat Calgary twice, there's still a chance.
Holy shit the Chicago Blackhawks have 100 points! All they need is 1 point in 2 games from Detroit which isn't easy or Calgary to lose a home/home with Edmonton to get the 4th seed.

Do they reseed in hockey?
Canucks are sitting at 98 points. As long as they remain at least one point ahead of Calgary we get home ice advantage in the first round.
Hope they do. Hawks were 4-0 against Calgary this year. Bee fun to watch so meaningful Hockey again.

well Buffalo beat the Canes last night which was significant in that Buffalo won a game to make the playoffs, but then the Rangers won I think and knocked them out of the playoffs.

I hope the Canes get their act together tomorrow for the last game of the season.
...and Montreal squeaks into the playoffs.
Apparently Schneider's injury wasn't as serious as they thought. Hopefully Markov will be back early too.
Lol, best of luck Habs.
Francious Beauchemin comes back tonight for us. 2 points and we're in. Let's go DUCKS!
Playoffs are set to start on Wednesday! Here's the lineup:

EAST
Montreal vs Boston
New York vs Washington
Carolina vs New Jersey
Philadelphia vs Pittsburgh

WEST
Anaheim vs San Jose
Columbus vs Detroit
St. Louis vs Vancouver
Calgary vs Chicago

Go Devils! whoo!

Canes Advantage: well the good thing for the Canes is Brodeur can't stop Babchuk's 100 mph shot.
We have a 3-1 record against the Devils.
And I can't think of anyone good on their team except Parise and Brodeur.

NJ advantage: NJ has home ice.

Should be a good series.
Well we're not making it past round 1. Too bad we could have had Vancouver. Fuck.
Two journalists from La Presse are betting that Markov will be back thursday. If true, Boston will again be eliminated by Montréal.

That's right. If it was any other team, I'd say Montreal loses in 5-6. But against Boston? I'll go with the Bruins-Killer rep they have.
It won't ever happen, because the Canucks are pretty good, but I would love to see the Blues make it all the way. For no other reason than I saw them down in St. Louis while on a trip there; it was quite an enjoyable evening.
actually have tickets for tomorrow night. Going to be CRAZY in GM Place. God I love this time of year!!!
I for one congratulate Angry on his awesome ticket havage, and I'm sure if he finds himself with any extras he'll look my way...
Lets go Penguins ! Hopefully Malkin does not run out of gas this year.
You forgot the part where we both fight over it for Badgers pleasure in a They Live/ Star Trek inspired battle royale, in which I ultimately win by crying and feinting defeat, followed by a swift drop kick to the spine.

... GO VANCOUVER!
Here, I'll throw the other ticket in the air and you two can fight over it.

*toss*
