NHL 2008-2009 season and the 3rd jerseys! - Page 6

And THAT'S called taking away Home Ice.
I'm 6'5 and MUCH stronger than a bull.

Game 2 for the Nucks tonight at GM. Knock em dead boys. Also LOL at the Blackhawks OT goal against Kipper.
Maybe the Blue Jackets can steal one at home... maybe... poor Blue Jackets.
Wow, did Boston utterly dismantle the Habs tonight.

What's happening to the Canadiens makes a great case for giving the Norris to Markov. Without him, they are a team who can't do anything offensively and defensively.
All I want is to play the Sharks tough tonight. If we do that, we still have a shot.

getting ready to see the Canes play tonight. Let's hope we can get ahead as the series is 1-1.

Van is cleaning the floor with the Blues.
Nice to see the Devils get over their 'always lose to the Canes in OT' on that gem of a shot last night.

that was a great game. I've never heard the RBC center that loud... and then it was quiet after the OT goal.

Good game, let's hope the canes can tie it back up on Tuesday.

Bring on round 2 !!!!!!!!!!
Meh, it's just one game. We didn't play in sync and they were desperate. Whatever, we can come back in Game 4 which we now HAVE to win.
I'm getting STUPID drunk baby, GO CANUCKS!
God damn, people who don't even watch hockey at the bar I was at were glued to the final five minutes of that Devils/Canes game. Stupid Canes...had to go tie that shit up. hmph

I'll give Jersey credit for coming back from a 3-0 deficit, but that last second shot was UNBELIEVABLE. Watching Brodeur's reaction was priceless!

Go Canes!

I think we can agree Ducks/Canucks would have been a better matchup. We really should have had the sixth spot.
Well, if Montreal wins a game it will be by luck.

Amazing how Markov, of the the 3 best defenseman of the NHL, can turn the tide. Add this guy and a healthy Schneider and Tanguay and we'd have at least a 50-50 chance of winning this. Add to the fact that there's a lot of injured still playing, and it's pretty obvious we're outclassed.

I'm rooting for San Jose and my favorite team from the West, the Hawks!
Fuck Calgary (because it's Calgary!) and fuck Vancouver (they got Sundin. Anyone else and I'd be rooting for them). Any other?

(I still think 2 or 3 teams should be brought north, like fucking Tampa Bay, Nashville and Phoenix).
I don't hate the Flames, except in the series, where EVERYONE is an enemy, and the Canadian team even more so.

The Flames made a critical error getting Jokinen. They've been at best average since. The Canucks have Sundin, but they compensate by have the Sedins and Super-Luongo. I'm not a big fan of Vancouver's playstyle.

But I want to see the Canucks go far this year.

See, for us, cheering for Toronto is like cheering for AIDS. But the rest is fine.
For all Canadians cheering for Toronto is like cheering for aids. They have the stink about them.

Buh-bye, Habs.

To quote Johnny Drama: "Victory!" I think a lot of demons were exorcised this night. So excited.

Yup. Still, it was lost from the day we lost Markov. Add Tanguay and Lang, and we're dead. Anything else is unrealistic.

Boston might be surprised by NY.
I gave up on any REAL chance when Lang went down. It seems that we lost guys as soon as they'd lead the team in points.

The whole season was a nightmare. I predict Gainey steps down at 4:00PM today. The main reason he didn't sign any pending UFA's is because his plan should he fail, was to leave the table and salary cap blank for his succsessor.
Lang was a tough loss, but losing our 2 top defenses was the killing blow. It's pretty weird to see the Boston fans go ecstatic. It's like watching the Habs (at full strength) slamming Boston without Savard, Chara and Kessel. It's not even sport-like.

Somehow I'm pretty sure the Habs fans would muster up SOME enthusiasm for sweeping the hated Bruins out of the playoffs.

In order: Koivu, Tanguay, Lang, Markov, all got injured when they were leading the team.

I I got to agree with Chavez, the Bruins won, the fans are right to be ecstatic.
It also doesn't hurt that this is Boston's first sojourn past the first round in 10 years.

"What is that up there, Larry?"
"I...I...I don't know, Skip, but if the old stories are true, it's [hushed voice]the second round[/hushed voice]"

EDIT - also, what was the feeling LAST season in Montreal when the Habs dumped the Bruins in the first round?

Basically its because Toronto is ALL we hear about. They weren't given the nickname "Center Of The Universe" for nothing.

What's this? Anaheim is about to put the best team in the NHL down?
Hmmm, it can't be themselves...

Yes. I'm still bitter about Pronger.

The Red Wings are the best NHL team.

The Sharks ended with the worst seed of the playoffs. No one would rather play against Anaheim than Colombus.
Jesus Christo, Brodeur was insane last night. The Canes/Devils series is one hell of a matchup.

Yep, and it scares me we have to play them in round 2. Not just because of that, but because they're going to get every single call.

It's funny because had we won our last game of the season, we'd be in the sixth slot and in a series with Vancouver.

Domingo, Pronger is one of my faves on the team. Sorry

That we barely made it?

It's cool to cheer when your team wins, and I'm all for that, as Boston truly deserves the cheers, but what I hear from the Boston media is kinda insane.

Anyway, I call for a Pittsburgh-Detroit final, and Detroit will mop them, as usual.

Technically Brodeur had 1 puck go past him. He was just able to stop it from crossing the line (which sucks). Anyway, another great game by NJ and Carolina. Let's hope the Hurricanes can tie it up again and force a game 7.

Just curious.
I like how violent he is. My like of him is more of a "ZOMG THATS AWESOME" due to his physical style of play, that's all.

I was going to assume it was the same reason 'Lanche fans loved Claude "Gutless Puke"* Lemieux - he's a cheap/dirty douche of a human being, but he was THEIR cheap/dirty douche of a human being.

Probably my greatest hocky memory of all time.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GE7oh315Rb0&NR=1

I had a picture from the Detroit Free Press hanging in my locker at work from this game. It was of Mike Vernon connecting with Patrick Roy so hard it looks like Roy's hair is trying to fly off his head.

Ah the Vladinator! One of my all-time favorite defenseman!

My favorite Claude Lemieux story: Lemieux was being a prick during the ice warm-up. He was alone on the ice and the rest of the team was still in the locker room. Lemieux skated over to the other side and a fight broke out. Somebody ran to the Canadien's locker room to call for help. Gainey looked around and said: "All right, let's go help him. But nobody hurry."

I believe Darren McCarthy beating the shit out of Lemieux the year after his hit on Draper was the turnaround for the Wings. They stopped having an inferiority complex against the Avalanche and they've dominated since.

My favorite Lemieux story is that when his brother (Jocelyn, I believe) came into the league, during the warm-up he skated over and started chatting up some guys on the other team, just being friendly and such.

Basically, they all just glared at him for a bit and one of them piped up "don't even bother; we hate your brother...and we hate you too."

I hate how in the french media Claude Lemieux is a great player and an inspiration but they all hate Sean Avery. All because Pépé is a french canadian.
