The Hawks definitely have a chance against both these teams. I'd rather see them play Anaheim though...

We'll find out tonight.

And Anya, I never said either team would sweep your precious. Most likely it'll be another 6 or 7 game set against EITHER Detroit of Anaheim.

Oh, and Pittsburgh wins the East, IMO.
7 games would hardly make the Ducks/Wings too much for the Hawks. That sounds like a great series to me.

When did Versus get the NHL? Please tell me ABC gets the Conf Finals and beyond.

I've been a Blackhawk fan (and a Stand-By) almost my whole life. Well, ever since since Bobby Orr was signed as a free-agent anyway. My first personalized sweater, however, was D9etroit. My Dad and his twin were second generation Wings fans and he was hoping to pass on the family tradition. Mission failed.

Last time the Hawks faced the Wings in the playoffs they swept (91-92). Man, but for Lemieux they'd have won the cup that year.

All that to say, I'd like to face the Red Wings in the semis.

The Hawks definitely tend to do well against the Wings and it would probably be a great series, but I'd prefer to see the Wings knocked out any way possible.

I actually was at one of the Stanley Cup finals games the year they got swept and I actually won the Blackhawk Alumni Association Scholarship coming out of high school and am currently a member of the Blackhawk Alumni(I didn't play in college though). I've gotten to hang out with Stan Mikita, Cliff Coral, Reggie Kerr, Steve Konroyd, as recently as last year and my Dad was good friends with Keith Magnuson. I even played with Chris Chelios's cousin's Pete and Nick and met his Dad several times(although Chris Chelios is an ass in real life) and also played with Eddie Olczyk's cousin. My family was also friends with the Granato family and the Espositos.

That being said, hockey is the only sport I care about, but to be honest I haven't paid too much attention the last few years, mainly cause the Hawks have sucked sooooo bad.... really bad. All the while Detroit has put together one of the greatest franchises in the history of the NHL. Personally, I would like to see the Hawks go on a similar streak and even though it might be more poetic for them to beat Detroit, I would just like to see the Wings get eliminated any way possible.

Then you should TOTALLY love the Bruins for the time they traded Joe Thornton for a used puck bag and a box of jockstraps.

Wings/Ducks tied at 3 w/ less than 12 to go. Please go many, many overtimes.

we got a good laugh about this in Montreal. Thornton played through the playoff with broken ribs, he got destroyed by Komisarek and Boston repaid him by questioning his determination and trading him.

I'd worry about them being spent after that 7 game series - and I think that is a very real concern that is minimized by the fact that Canes/Bs went a hard 7 as well.
Thank you Jesus for delivering my Wings out of this damned series. I don't think my heart can take anymore.

Now on to the Blackhawks. Should be a fun series to watch.
This Canes/Bruins game stinks of 3 OTs.

Fortunately I am stocked up with enough beer to make it.
I am chapped that fucking puke Walker was the guy who scored the GW.

Chapeau to the Canes, great series. In the words of Paul Newman "kid, you got some stuff."
Fuuuuuuuck you Canes. It was a good series, blah, blah, blah. But maybe it's just because this is my one main hangout online and it seems like there are Canes fans everywhere, but blah, so sick of you. However, I wish you well in the next round, because even though I'm sick of you and your scrappiness, I'm sick of Pennsylvania teams even more. i understand it's karmic retribution for supporting Boston teams during the golden years, but I just don't want to see the Keystone state be in any position to take 3 of the big 4 over an 8 month period.

Go Wings! Yeah, I said it.

Bah, I'm going to sleep :: mumbles incoherently and wanders off ::

Go Blackhawks Go.

Three things fucked us tonight:

1. The 5-on-3
2. The 5-on-3 II: Still Not Doing Shit
3. That bullshit goal by Clearly at the end

I was really hoping to see the Bruins extend their season. A final of two teams from the original six would've been great. C'est dommage.

Now, I'd like to see a rematch of the 91-92 final, albeit with a different outcome...

Woooo! Canes win and I'm a happy man.

Canes win and force NBC NOT to televise Crosby because NBC has never heard of the Carolina Hurricanes! I'll watch it on Versus and be happy for it. AWESOME.

Yes, please. Seeing the Hawks get swept by the Pens was painful. The 1991-92 season wasn't the last time the Hawks and Wings met in the playoffs, though. They met in the Conference Finals in the 1994-95 season, and the Wings won in 5. So in my dreams, the Hawks avenge that series loss to the Wings, and then turn the tables on the Pens to win the Stanely Cup.

Well when the Blackhawks tied it up at 2-2 I thought they had a chance. Then Detroit poured it on. Geesh.

Not a bad game last night. I hate that the Canes lost, but I love that we scared the crap out of the Pens. If we actually had calls go our way, heck we might have even won that game.
Well played, Malkin. Well played.

I'm afraid the Canes cannot contain Malkin.

what a crazy game eh?
How upsetting, to watch the Wings lose after coming back from a three goal deficit.

Go Canes! Yeah we will probably lose tonight too.

Looks like we get to see Crosby's face in the finals. It will be worth it though. Remember those NHL commercials where Crosby steps out from the photo of his team losing last year. He says it will never happen again.

I hope it does.
I hope you have a nice, long summer being a sore loser.
Wow, the Penguins made it look easy. I smell a rematch; with hopefully the same outcome.

well that was embarrassing. At least we made it to the Eastern Finals. I'm hoping a few of our older guys (Brindamour, Whitney) retire or move on.

Pens play with a lot of finesse. If they play Detroit, then it should be an interesting series.

I'll eat my fist if Brind'Amour comes back for another year.

Then again, I have been saying the same thing about Chelios since 1908.
I don't think Huet could have played much better tonight, but thank god this series is over. Now onto the finals.

I see that there'll be no rest time between series, at least I'll get to watch game 1 on my birthday at the bar. (Go Wings!)
REMATCH!!!!

Second verse, same as the first.
I give the Cup to Pittsburgh.

In 6. They are way better than last year. And Detroit has injuries.
Detroit in 7. Unless they get even more injuries.
I still think Detroit is the Superpower of the NHL. I think they are gonna roll over the 'burgh in 5.

Yeah. The good news is that Rutherford said that as a 4th line Center, he's got to earn his spot back on the team. Seriously, the Canes have too many Centers.. of course none that can win pucks like he can.

I still wish he'd retire.
Pens vs Wings - I don't have anything against either of these teams (aside from being a native Yooper and hating all things downstate Michigan), but I don't have anything FOR them, either.

It's like trying to decide who to root for in a Kaiser Wilhelm vs Jefferson Davis knife fight.
Woot! Two games up on the Pens, two to go.

I really hope Pavel Datsyuk is back for game three, it took too many lucky breaks for the Wings to come out on top.

ETA: Nice to see the NHL step up and let us know that rules don't apply to stars like Evgeni Malkin.
Well, Pens take a game.

Wings looked tired tonight, and haven't looked sharp all series. Still have no idea when (or if)Pavel Datsyuk is coming back. Hopefully soonish.
Tonight!
Well, if the Wings play like that again, there won't be a game 7. God it is nice to Pavel Datsyuk back and playing like he's at 100%.
Come on Pittsburgh. Don't give the Patriots of the NHL a chance.

The Red Wings are the Sweden of the NHL.

And now I'm going to have to get up at 2 AM on Saturday to watch game 7.
Tonight. Game fuckin' 7. It's on. Go Wings!
