Clock Tower 3 wasn't bad either in a sort of campy way, although it went rather downhill halfway through.

I remember this game on the PSOne, because it came out during my must-play-every survival horror game phase. I didn't think much of it, though, but I'm pretty sure I was distracted by the greatness of the first Silent Hill and Resident Evil 2. Never even played the second Clock Tower game. Can't believe their making a movie based on it, since the franchise doesn't exactly have a built in fan base. Next they'll be making a Fear Effect movie or something...

The great tall tailor always comes
To little boys who suck their thumbs.
And 'ere they dream that he's about
He pulls his great sharp scissors out.

Also, I would plow Brittany Snow like nobody's business.

Wish I had something of substance to contribute.

Yeah, I never made it through that one, but have the first two proudly sitting on my dvd shelf. Along with Broken Helix. What can I say, I like my obscure PS1 games.

The fact that they're making a movie of this series is strange to me too. Wonder if they'll even bother mentioning that it's an adaptation.

Not to turn this into a game thread, but I absolutely adore Broken Helix. One of my favorite PS1 experiences.

I'm weeping tears of joy right now, for I have discovered I am not the only person who has played both Clock Tower and Broken Helix and loved them both.

And Fear Effect? Totally boss.

Eh, it's not going to be much of a movie thread- no one really knows who that girl is. Broken Helix is definitely an amazing game, although I remember being incredibly pissed off during my first run-through when I realized I had saved at a point when the whole place was blowing up, and thanks to the real-time engine there was no way I could make it in time.

So much fun though.

You know, I actually never made it through Fear Effect because when I tried it out my PS1 was in "turn upside down to play" mode and could never handle all the background screens. Would freeze all the time. I should pick up a copy now...

Should definitely check it out. The stories good fun, from gangsters to machete-wielding-zombies to demon prostitutes, and the main characters have a great B-Movie charm.

It's actually one of the only games I would like to see turned into a movie, but only if they actually took the fun elements from it. It could very easily become a Babylon A.D. if done poorly.

I agree with Syd. Fear Effect is pretty awesome...I kinda mentioned it as a joke in the earlier post because I didn't think it had much of a fan base. I've played through it a couple times, but then I lent it to a person who is no longer a friend who scratched the shit out of it and I can't even get it to start. I need to find a new copy. But it would make for an interesting movie if done correctly, better than Clock Tower at least.

We should all start a group called "Obscure Games we played that we didn't think anybody else played".

Fear Effect was awesome. I re-rented that game until I beat it, then bought the second one right when it came out. I remember my 13 year old self getting pre-tay excited by polygonal lesbian action. This is getting way off topic, but another obscure PS1 game I loved the hell out of was Wild 9. Impaling guys and using them as a bridge while they screamed in pain was too much fun.

And I've never played Clock Tower, but fuck this movie on this casting alone.

Maybe they see some movie potential for the Scissorman character? Not sure if he's even in this, but I certainly hope so.

I'm a big fan of the Clock Tower series. The Scissorman from the games (the PS game which was actually a sequel, and the SNES/Super Famicom original) was actually inspired by that creepy German rhyme that nekkerbee posted, and there's a very "classic" quality to him. Always thought he would make a great Freddy/Michael/Jason/Cropsy style slasher character.

Of course, what would also be cool is if the movie played up the Argento influences that the original games had.
