Pretty impressive lying in this little excerpt.

Here's more:

Quote:
When asked by Gibson if under the NATO treaty, the U.S. would have to go to war if Russia again invaded Georgia, Palin responded: "Perhaps so. I mean, that is the agreement when you are a NATO ally, is if another country is attacked, you're going to be expected to be called upon and help.

Palin advocated the accession of Georgia and Ukraine into NATO, meaning that if attacked again in the future, the United States would be bound to go to war....

"I mean, that is the agreement when you are a NATO ally, is if another country is attacked, you're going to be expected to be called upon and help," she said.

Palin, who obtained her first passport this year and who has served just two years as Alaska's governor, told Gibson that she was up to the challenge of being Sen. John McCain's vice president.
Well at least she put as much thought into accepting the VP slot as McCain put into offering it.

This is a comment from the talkback to that Gibson/Palin interview. This is a typical Palin follower. No matter what they will blindly follow, it's fucking scary.

The same could be said about Obama's people.

Except when they form a (huge) user group on his website in protest to hold him accountable to his FISA compromise.

The more you hear from Palin, the more she sounds like Dubya. At first, I thought that analogy was misplaced, but she is the same brand, repackaged. Its political fraud.
Missed this thread.

She's still on script and after this I can't see them letting her do more interviews. She fails.
I'm not sure it was her talking or the advisers telling her what to say, considering she pretty much gave the exact same answer that McCain gave in his interview today about how national security is tied directly to energy independence. I think it'll be a while before we actually here some from her that hasn't been feed to her.

Gibson quoted her as saying: "Our national leaders are sending U.S. soldiers on a task that is from God."
But Palin said she was referencing a famous quote by Abraham Lincoln.

"I would never presume to know God's will or to speak God's words. But what Abraham Lincoln had said, and that's a repeat in my comments, was let us not pray that God is on our side in a war or any other time, but let us pray that we are on God's side."
Yeah... Lincoln's quote and her quote... completely antithetically diametrically opposed.
It's not as if the Russia Georgia question was a surprise. This was a take home/open book test.
Cut her some slack, guys. I'm sure there's loads of intelligence in that peanut-shaped head of hers.
Wow, the Lincoln thing is inhumanly stupid. I'd have received a failing grade if I'd written that in my 9th grade US history class. And I just fucking KNOW people will eat it up as a great zinger.
Jesus, she's barely able to shit out a coherent thought.
She's supposed to be relatable? She's supposed to be a hockey mom? Yet she has no doubts about her readiness to be VPOTUS or POTUS? Yeah, I bet every one of the women who think she's just like them would also feel just as ready to put their family on the side, and take on the most demanding job in the world. She's just so fucking relatable.

Holy COW! I love it when she got asked about the Bush Doctrine. Classic. Of course Charlie Gibson was just being a sexist.

Holy fuck, listening to her respond with energy over and over again to his question about national security.

"Canada... and mexico..." WOW.

This is ridiculous.

"Unprovoked." Jesus fuck, does she even watch the fucking news???

I'm gonna have a fucking stroke watching this.

Nuculer. Check.

??? What wasn't scary? Energy(oil) is her foreign policy experience as well as being a neighbor to Russia. Wait till the domestic policy stuff comes.

Charlie Gibson is a goddamn wanker. She could look the country in the "eye" and tell us ANYthing! Her lies over the past few weeks is proof of that.

Fail.
Sarah Palin reminds of the slut o matics in the porn clips online where there's a class room and she's sitting at the desk and little Johnny is staying after class because his grades are bad. She offers him extra credit and starts to slob his knob. Then proceeds to turn into a wild succubi cunny. Ending with a complete facial.
Haha, I love his asking her about the Bush Doctrine of 2002, letting her reply, and then correcting her on what the Bush Doctrine was.

Her refusal to answer his question about a possible Israel nuclear strike felt like a Daily Show montage.

I'm somewhat impressed with Gibson so far, if only because my expectations were so low. He's been pretty horrible, but I honestly thought it'd be even more softball.

Ugh, actually heard her Lincoln thing. More shit-wrenching in video form.

At the very least, he can pronounce nuclear.

I've been arguing with a Palin supporter the last couple days, and she pretty much responds by ignoring any points that I raise, and just throwing out straw man arguments and charges of sexism. It's SO frustrating.

Exactly, and that's exactly what Palin's doing here, hence my stroke comment. I keep shouting for Gibson to not let her off the hook, but he gives up after a half hearted attempt each time.
She seems very defensive and catty, and not very likable. She reminds me of Veruca Salt, just haughty and entitled and wanting what she wants when she wants it, and fuck what everyone else is doing.

Canada, Mexico ... tomato, tomahto...

Let me make sure I have this -- can we second-guess Israel?
At least in this first part, Gibson isn't sucking as bad as I thought he would. He seems more like an unimpressed school teacher who's quizzing her on her knowledge of world affairs. It was painfully obvious she had no idea what the Bush Doctrine was.

She still has to address the Bridge to Nowhere, the eBay Jet, and Troopergate.
He completely tears her apart on the Bush Doctrine.
Palin's answer on Isreal is another reason why her pick is such bullshit: Unilateral support of Isreal is chapter one, verse one when it comes to foreign affairs for the religious right and their buddies the Christian dispensationalists. Because that's how Armageddon starts!
She did seem very cranky and angry and like she had a stick up her ass.

I pray to God all of us here go and vote for Obama when the time comes.

It's people who see the republicunts for their bullshit who can seriously make a difference in this election.

Plus it'll really piss off a lot of KKK Christian assholes to put a brother in the house. I'm pale white and just the thought of it sounds like fun.
Hm, her answers remind me of someone.......

Tonight they showed a mini-doc about the Georgian attack on South-Ossetia that led to the Russian attack.

Georgia leveled several villages with rockets and artillery before they moved in. They interviewed people from those villages who said that hundreds were killed and that they actually prayed for a russian intervention cause they feared a small genocide there.

So it's quite ironic she's sitting there absolutely oblivious to the facts and to the reasons of the russian offensive. It was also clear - in his remark - that Gibson knew about these details. I was hoping he would put some more pressure on her in regards to that, but unfortunately he didn't.

That whole conflict is not as black and white as so many people would like it to be.
Her kid that's going to Iraq, its not his decision its the judge that gave him a choice: Go to jail or join the military.

I wish Gibson had brought this up, but I knew he wouldn't.
Please tell me you're not using the Enquirer as your source for that.
Well, they are the ones who blew the John Edwards story wide open.
You know, I'm glad he's sticking to Politics 101 questions myself. Gotcha questions like the plane on Ebay and such are fun but the questions like "what is your opinion of the Bush Doctrine" are way more damning. She doesn't know the basics. I hope it stays at this level myself.

Like I said, the basic questions are damning her enough. Maybe even more so.

Just slap that bitch in the mouth and tell her to go make you some dinner.

Europe laughes its ass off here. If this highschool student is elected to office, I will build myself a nice little fallout shelter in the backyard.
If I'd to choose between McSame-Palin and Putin to do something for world peace, my bet would be on Putin.
She doesn't know the Bush doctrine? The one that has turned the whole world against the US the last years and the one the next administration needs to fix asap?
And what's up with the fake "Charlie, Charlie" calling and the winking? Like a Miss Highschool student that's being asked a question by the teacher and hasn't done her homework.
If I'd believe in god, I'd pray to heaven to let rain some brain.
JEEZUS!

Been watching this with my sister and significant other, and we said the same exact words.

This is stuff you have to know for a current HIGH SCHOOL history or politics class, let alone college. It's utterly utterly insane. I wish Gibson pressed her harder, but it certainly looks bad as it is. If America doesn't pay attention to this, well, I don't know what.

Jaysus. I could barely watch the clip, it was so uncomfortable. The way Gibson stayed back and let her flop around may not have been "tough," but that made the outcome all the worse, at least in my view. Instead of a confrontation between two equal sides, it was one reasonable person and one David Brent.

Someone I was watching it with said partway "I'm so lost, did she even say anything just then?" only to lose when Gibson, after another round aimless flopping said something like "sorry, you just lost me in a sea of words, is that a yes, or a no, to the question?" Only to have her say the exact same thing.

Matt Damon is so right! This IS like a bad Disney movie with the hockey mom becoming President and having to face down the evil Putin but wins by using hockey tactics from her early days.
