Rick Wright of Pink Floyd Dead!

This is truly a sad day. Pink Floyd is perhaps my favorite band ever, and I have always loved Rick's sound. Pink Floyd have always been my favorite British Classic Rock act, followed by Zeppelin and only then The Beatles. I got to see them on their '94 tour stop in Raleigh, and I have hundreds of bootlegs of them. I suggest people seek out his first solo album, "Wet Dream." That, and the song Summer '68 are some great lesser-known stuff. The song "The Great Gig in the Sky" takes on some added weight for me from now on.

Heard about it this morning. Sad indeed. He will be missed.

Pink Floyd's "Seamus" had just popped up on my iTunes shuffle before I read it.

Yes, mentioned in the Dead Celeb Thread.

Truly on the right hand edge of actually upsetting.
Goodbye mythical nonexistent reunion.

I listened to Wearing the Inside Out and Echoes this morning after i heard.

Hopefully they will be able to get together and do some type of tribute; playing some of Rick's music.

I dunno, Waters has been pretty disrespectful to Wright since before The Wall was created...

RIP Rick Wright. On his blog, David Gilmour said, "I really don't know what to say other than that he was such a lovely, gentle, genuine man and will be missed terribly by so many who loved him.

And that's a lot of people. Did he not get the loudest, longest round of applause at the end of every show in 2006?"

He did seem the softest spoken and kindest of the group, but whose musical instincts and talent helped define its sound.

This is incredibly sad news.

Aww, man. That really sucks. Terrible luck too, for it to be cancer, I'm pretty sure his solo album was his way of dealing with losing his wife to cancer as well. He wrote some incredible, incredible music, and was a great player (completely self taught, too). I'm glad I did get a chance to see him play on the Division Bell tour.

This really sucks.

Man, it's still absurd that even Syd is dead. Seemed like he'd be in that little house forever. RIP Rick Wright.

Damn. This sucks, I think he tended to get overlooked for his contribution to the Floyd sound, I mean really, his keyboard work was absolutely vital, he literally painted a soundtrack with the sound FX and playing that made Floyd truly unique as a rock band.
