FAIL DRAFT: Sign Up

Starting Monday, September 22nd.

Pick any cinematic failure that you want (how you define 'failure' is up to you). These rounds will be a free-for-all: no specific theme except for what YOU create for your personal list of underachievement.

This will be 5 rounds with a bonus round for Monday, September 29th that will have a different theme: Defend a cinematic Failure. In that round, you can pick a film that has been drafted during the previous week OR you can draft a guilty pleasure. Either way, defend your film and watch your credibility go out the window...

Proposed Format for this Draft:

- The draft will start at 11am EST and proceed in 20 minute intervals, 2 people each round. If both people from a round have gone, the next grouping of 2 may draft. I'm allowing 24 people, MAX, into the draft. That means that the draft should take approximately 4 hours each day if everyone goes when selected.
- Each day will be random. I will draw a person's draft time the day before and alter it, as necessary, to make sure that the time falls within that person's comfort zone.
- I will assume, unless I hear otherwise, that each person's comfort zone is between 11am and 3pm EST translated into THEIR LOCAL TIME.

Include your time zone when signing up.

In. Eastern Standard Time. If you could give me a late in the day slot I would dig it.

Please check the main entry at the top of the page for the proposed draft time 'comfort zones'. As you can see, I've created a 4 hour draft period with corresponding times for each of the time zones mentioned so far. For now, I have the draft period set between 11am and 3pm EST. If necessary, this can be moved up or down to meet with the majority needs of the drafting body. Please, let me know your thoughts.

Got to make sure Wi-Fi works on my laptop at the community college, but I should be okay to go at around 1 EST/11 PST.
I'm pretty sure my desired 1st Round pick will be snapped up immediately.
Anyone else thinking about themes right now? I've got a couple ideas:
Desecration of Beloved Franchise, Auteurs Gone Wrong, or, Sci-Fi Fiasco.
I'm comfortable with my 1 - 3 timeslot. But give me some company if you can. Because it looks like I'm all by my lonesome.

Not at all. You'll be in with the other EST guys who can pick from 11 - 3, except I'll make sure that you're in the last half.
Is there still room for me? I'm on London time which is EST +5 - so 11am over there is 4pm here.

Renn, if I put you in the 11 - 1 EST area, will that suffice, or would you NEED the 11 - 12 EST slot?
Well I was hoping for one of the 8am on slots. On Tuesday and Thursday (which are the problem days) I could post as soon as I get to Sound Design, since I always have a computer there. If I have an 11 slot though, Mondays and Wednesdays become a problem, as I have classes that start at 11. Internet is dubious.

I'm serious though, put me where it works without causing you more trouble or causing troubles for the draft. I'll figure it out either way.

Renn: I'll really try and be as fair as I can with this. I'm attempting to keep this all within a 4 hour bloc of time so that:
- things move faster without as much down time between drafters;
- people can have random draft times for each day and have a chance of going FIRST sometimes instead of LAST every day;
- all time zones, here and in Europe, are fair and represented.

I will do all that I can to follow that set and accomodate individual needs. Because you are EST, your time zone is 11-3. Tell me what I can do on each day to make sure that you can get into that zone comfortably and fairly.
As long as I can go at exactly eleven I'll be fine. Any later could be problematic.
That's fine. That's fine. I just saw 8 - 12 in the list up there and misunderstood. My bad. I should be able to finagle something, even if I just borrow an iPhone or something to post up during class.

EDIT: I'm excited for this. I'm already anxious about people stealing some of my picks.

Do you have any leeway in that at all? You NEED to be in the first draft grouping every day? Are there some days that are flexible? I'm just trying to be fair, that's all.
Bring it on.

Mountain Time, hooooooo!
Judas, thanks for setting this up.

And, people in general, don't be a bitch about your timeslots. If you have busy days, post when you get home and don't complaint.

That's all.

I was gonna skip this one, but then I thought, "Nah, I hate LOADS of films!"

This could be fun. September sure has been a draft-a-rific month....

OK, that's 24 of us. If you still want in, continue to list your name; we might be able to fit you in or put you in as an alternate (if somoeone has to drop).

Everyone listed in the draft: PLEASE take a look at your draft comfort zone in the first posting. Unless I hear otherwise, I'm going to assume that you can make your draft at ANY point in that 4 hour window. I will do my best to accomodate any needs that you have, even if it's just for one day.
Let Anderson in. He'd be a credit to the draft.

And I'm good anytime before 5 EST. Office job, and all.

Because Arjen has Dee-plo-mah-tik Imm-yoo-ni-tee, I'll go with his suggestion and let Anderson in.

So let it be written.

So let it be done.
There may be a day or two when I need to draft like, 5-10 min before that 9am MST, because by 9 I'll already be at work with no computers around for 8 hours. Sadly, it's shift work so I'm not yet sure what days, if any that I'd encounter this glitch.. but if it'll get ants in anyones pants I guess I can fall back to a late night pick on those days

ETA actually, that doesnt even work, since nothing says I'll be in the first round of that 4 hour slot. I guess I'm a late nighter on those days
post #47 of 67
All times are good for me but between 1-2pm your time might be tricky for me, as that's when I travel home from work. Still, no biggie.

Trejo, what days are in question?

Sackley, I'll make sure that you're not in the 1-2pm EST slot.

Monday and Friday I can go whenever, Tuesday and Thursday, I'm out the door a few minutes after eleven, but I could do it from 1-2 if that's possible. Wednesday I'd need to do it before 12:30.

Not a problem, we'll make that work.
