House - Season 5

Well, it's back on starting tonight. I'm not a fan of medical/hospital related shows, and I pretty much watch this show only for Hugh Laurie, but I really do enjoy the heck out of this show. Last season I thought was alright, but I'm interested in seeing where they go with House/Wilson early in the season.
Well I'll be DVRing this tonight since it comes on at 8 pm now... and I"ll try to watch it later after my son goes to sleep.

House is one of my favorite shows on TV and the House/Wilson dynamic is front and center in this first episode of the new season... so it should be great.
Last season started awesome and then was more of the same.

But it was good. I'll be sure to watch it.
I'm praying Comcast has cable back up tonight so I can see House. Been watching the repeats since they started a while back on USA, and it's caused saliva to form for the new season.

Agreed, but the season ending was really really good.

Last season was also during the height of the writers strike, but the last two episodes were absolutely fantastic. You'd think all of the trippy story telling devices that House uses wouldn't fit a medical show, but they work all the time and are often my favorite episodes.

Oh Fall TV, how I love you. While leaves may begin turning and falling and the temperature begins dropping, TV is blossoming into beautiful new life.

House handing the feminist chick a box of tissues after he diagnosed her was priceless.
my only real suprise about this episode was the ball-breaking boss didn't show up...which would have been fun.

This show would have been cancelled in about 2 episodes if not for Hugh Laurie.
Dammit...the DVR missed the last few minutes of the show. It cut out right when House started to actually apologize. What happened afterwards?

I think it's a great character-driven show. The medical stuff isn't any more important than the sci-fi trappings of Lost.
Much obliged, Jacob. It wasn't a great episode, but the House/Wilson story was involving

Agreed. Not enough Hugh Laurie to keep it on edge. Beautiful but Dying Bisexual Chick is not a big draw for me.
I thought it was an alright episode. Next week's ep is pretty great though. It has one of the best cold opens in the show's history and you're all going to want Michael Weston's character to a permanent cast member after you see him in action.
not the most exciting episode but the last 5 minutes were great.

My DVR cut off with 2 minutes left.

Luckily I was recording Fringe too... so I just started watching Fringe, and was pleased to see the rest of House being shown.

I loved House's statement about "almost dying vs dying". Cant remember the exact quote though...

Donovan is in this next week? YES!

And while the episode was ok, the Wilson/House stuff really pulled it forward. I liked it.
yeah, my TiVo missed the last two minutes as well. I wonder if they're trying to trick me into recording Fringe as well?

Anyway, not the best episode. Mostly because House was just genuinely pissy and not humorously pissy throughout most of the episode. If next weeks episode really has Donovan in it, that's awesome.
I watched it and had mixwd feelings. Yes, House is living down to expectations and the House and Wilson relationship is being explored but I found the team and even the patient of the week to be more interesting.

Not shit. Damn you Goldberg for raising my hopes. God would I pay to see Westen face off against House.
Sigh, fucking Fox doesn't put up shows online until 8 days after premiering...so I can't see the season premiere until after the 2nd episode? GG with the thought process there Fox.
There are alternative sites out there streaming in Xvid. Just sayin.

I think it was - "Almost dying changes nothing. Dying changes everything."

I'll go along with the fact it was an alright episode, but the last five minutes with Wilson and House made sitting through the team members bickering for 45 minutes worth it.
It was a decent episode at best. But House and Wilson made the episode. Their stuff was the only good and interesting thing. And the resolution was great. I love that they decided to change the status quo.

House's got no one now. His only friend, the person he trusted the most left him because he couldn't stand him anymore. I'll be interested in seeing where Laurie takes it.

It was so she could wipe the goop from her belly. but I like your interpretation better.

I thought the premiere was okay. It was clear they wanted to focus on the House/Wilson stuff and 13's disease. I'm really looking forward to next week. Private Dancer as a Private Eye!

I didn't even consider that, but at least I got a good laugh out of it. Although I do remember thinking it was the most subtle joke I had ever seen on House.

I think this is the season House hooks back up with Cuddy.
Has anyone else noticed that Cuddy seems to wear outfits that are one size too small? Not that I mind, as they show off her killer body and all that, but they don't look like they fit her very well.

I read months ago that the plane is to have a spin-off based around his character.
Having missed the premiere, I was pretty lost, but still thought this was a good episode. It was definitely a very interesting case. So this private eye is going to become a regular character? I don't know how I feel about that. He was already wearing thin on me by the time they were following the cute brunette.

And seriously FOX, can we get a new credit sequence? How are we supposed to take the new team seriously when the credits have that big shot of House and the original members of the team walking behind him...and no mention of the new team.

I was thinking the same thing about the credit sequence, and I hope the P.I. isn't back either.

I thought this was a kind of mediocre episode minus the open.

FOX finally put up the premiere, for those that missed it. I really loved the premiere. All of the Wilson/House stuff was absolutely great. When Cutty sat them in the lounge together and House asked Wilson how we was, then they both sat up, hilarious. And I'm glad they brought up 13's Huntington's, because I had completely forgotten that.
I liked the Private Investigator stuff. He plays well off of House.
Yeah, count me in as liking the private investigator. I would definitely like to see more of Michael Weston this season.
I'm a little behind on all this stuff, but I finally caught up on this show.

I'm also someone that had kind of mixed reactions to the PI dude that House hired. I think part of my negative reaction was because I felt like the show was introducing this character as a replacement for Wilson, who frankly can't be replaced. No other character will ever have as good an interplay with House as Wilson did. Most of my biggest laughs on this show have been when those two were discussing some moral quandary House was involved in.

Question for clarification: Is House trying to charge all of this PI's activities to the hospital? One thing that always baffled me was how House never seemed to have any money, despite being highly regarded as a brilliant diagnostician. I'm sure being a jerk drops his salary some since many hospitals wouldn't want to have anything to do with him, but the guy still has to be banking pretty hard. I remember that some of his mooching off of Wilson came from just screwing with him, but I always seem to get the sense that he is cash strapped most of the time. Maybe I'm just misreading things.

I ask because if House really is essentially paying this PI to take the place of Wilson in his life structure, then he's going to be forking over a lot of money this season. Kind of goes against his money spending habits up to this point.
Wow! Who would have thought a Swollen Brecken Meyer would be so freakin' cool... and gross.

Not much to talk about except that without Wilson, House takes out his frustrations/boredom on his team. Seems like they might want to try to get Wilson back.
He still gets credited, so i doubt he's gone.

The P.I. stuff is really funny though.
Next week is a House/Wilson road trip episode, it looks like. I can't wait.
Unfortunately, next week is a repeat due to the next Presidential Debate.

But yeah, the House/Wilson road trip still looks pretty good.

Seriously looking forward to this episode a lot. Looks like it's going to be great.
Pretty good episode last night. Glad they finally brought Wilson back into the fold. I guess that marks the end of the private investigator's role in this show (or maybe not?).

Didn't have as many really funny moments as episodes past, but House pretending to break down a little at the podium just so he would have reason to go over and get a DNA sample of his dad was vintage House. As were his attempts to prevent Wilson from getting him to the funeral.
The relationship between House and Wilson is such a great bromance. Fun to see it in action this week.
House-Wilson...just awesome. Kal Penn...just boring.

Actually, I'm all that interested in Thirteen. I'm hoping that these upcoming episodes will get me to care.

Also its being reported that possible Weston spin-off is not happening.

Can't believe R. Lee came back, just to lay in a box.
Bah, I missed this episode because my channel lineup changed and the TiVo didn't know which channel was Fox anymore.

Same thing happened to me. Yay, now till wait till next Wednesday for FOX to post it online.
ah shit...I totally forgot it was a new episode last night. It's torrent time, I guess.

Judging by next week's preview, if the upcoming episode can't get you to care, then nothing will.
Drugging House should be done every other week, just for comic effect.

I like Kal Penn, but they really haven't done much with his character. This week's episode was the first attempt to show a little bit of his background.

I loved his little half-smile when he woke up in the car next to Wilson and realized what had happened.
