30 Rock - Season 3

The new season starts at the end of next month - October 30 to be exact. Discuss.
Um...Yay. More discussion once the episode actually airs.

Fair enough.

Although I'm concerned Fey & Co. are starting to depend too much on "big name celebrity guest-stars" in the hope(s) that it will boost the ratings (which contrary to those in the press suggest are still fucking terrible...sadly!)
I'd be worried about that if the celebrity guests, Seinfeld aside, didn't routinely kick so much ass. Mathew Broderick completely turned my view of him around, Edie Falco held her own, and even Al Gore got some lulz.
Also, Gladys Knight, Carrie Fisher, and Tim Conway. And that's not counting recurrers like Arnett and Torn and the Beeper King (whose return was the funniest episode of last season).

I think this show has the best guest stars on tv, so if they can keep that up, I don't mind.
It ruined the illusion to see the Beeper King in the first episode of Law & Order:CI this summer. Luckily he was a jackass in that so it didn't ruin it too much.

Surprised they haven't brought in Leno - what with the NBC connection and all.

I don't think that Leno is too happy with NBC at the moment, being forced out of a job and everything.
Leno is pissed at NBC for kicking him off the Tonight Show next year so he won't do them any favors.

Edit: Turbo beat me to it.

We'll probably see Fallon then...

Seconded. I hated Edie but she stole every scene along Jack.

Seconded # 2. If the said guest star is included in an episode that contains lines like: Stop eating people old French fries, pigeon. Have some self respect! Don't you know you can fly.

She was in love with Sarah Connor too. I wouldn't pick her instead of Tina. She has the brains and the T&A.

Non related: Tracy tried to stab Connan once.

Don't forget James Carville! Cajun-style!

Well, he is the stabbing robot.

And what's the deal with Best Buy advertising the Season 2 DVDs going on sale this week? I scanned all of the other Sunday ads to see if I could find it cheaper but no other stores were advertising it. Then I find out that it isn't going to be released until October. Bastards!
From the beginning, the show has done a great job of working in cameos and guest stars pretty cleverly. I would hate to see them go.

Leno's not cool enough for the show.

Oct. 30th is too far away.
Every guest but Seinfield has won an emmy. That might not be true, but it's close.
Apparently they are using Gossip Girl cast members in a flashback scene where we see Liz Lemon as a high schooler. I'm not getting how that will generate laughs, but it's hard not to trust good old Tina Fey. And by good old I mean "woman I'm completely in love with".

THANK YOU!!!

I thought I was going insane. I'm on vacation for the rest of the week and have been hunting for these like the fuckin Holy Grail but haven't found 'em. The closest I got was a Target sticker that said they were outta stock and was offering a rain check.

and what's up with them holding off the premier to October 30th. Everything else starts next week.

SNL Election skits show goes in this time slot until right up to the election.

I hope they can get Oprah to guest star in her role as leader of the Black Crusaders. That would be amazing.
Also, Jenna needs more screentime. Jane Krakowski should have been Emmy-nominated.

Oh, shit. I forgot about the Black Crusaders! If they used her for that it would be classic TV.
The Black Crusaders will only work if they can get Gordon from Sesame Street in on it.

From EW.

In her first trip to the podium, for Comedy Writing, 30 Rock's Fey insisted that her nominated colleague Jack Burditt should have won for penning the line ''Never go with a hippie to a second location.'' In her second trip, for Best Lead Actress in a Comedy, she credited the defeated Julia Louis-Dreyfus as her inspiration, saying she gets through scenes as Liz Lemon by imagining how the New Adventures of Old Christine star would play them.
That line is my favorite.
Now I had to imagine Julia as Lemon. That's heaven. Julia's delivery is perfect.
Now, even though the Emmys typically mean jack shit, I can say Two-Time Best Comedy Winner 30 Rock. And this is glorious.
Hopefully the wins will get this some more viewers. And Tina Fey looked amazing last night. Is that short guy that was sitting next to her the husband?
Because I would be happy to stuff him into a little gym bag and take his place.

You can also download it right now off itunes for free. You have to have the code from this week's TV Guide though.
I got a screener of the first two episodes and it's just as great as ever. I don't know how that bodes for bringing new viewers on board, but I don't care. I love this show.
Just wanted to alert everyone that you can watch the "30 Rock" season premiere on NBC.com at 12 p.m. EST. I'm definitely watching it then.

I just caught up on the first two seasons last week. Such an insanely funny, brilliant show- "Blurgh!" The "Midnight Train to Georgia" musical number last season was one of the greatest things I've ever seen on television.
Just seen the new episode. Absolutely brilliant, hasn't lost one iota of greatness.

Will Arnett just killed it.
It's easily the strongest premiere of the three seasons. It's also a testament to the writing that they can take a story that's about as generic as they come and still turn in a fine episode.

That being said, I was surprised by how little hand holding there was in the episode. I'm not sure if this was written before or after Fey became a sensation as Palin, but the show doesn't do much to catch you up if you've never seen it before. Little things like Devin being gay or who Jonathan is could've been explained in a throw away line.

EDIT: Thinking back about the complaint, maybe that was just keeping with the soap opera nature of the episode.
Megan Mullally is surprisingly fantastic, but then again, so is every 30 Rock guest.

Best line: "Three of my siblings were adopted...and one day, I'm going to find them."
Haven't seen the whole episode yet, but Frank's hat after Liz tells him to change it made me laugh pretty hard.

Hopefully, Fey & Co. will make it an annual tradition to have an episode featuring Dennis and another with the Floydster.

I'll see that line and raise you:

Jack: It's like I've been saying; you shouldn't dress as the job you currently have, but rather the job you want to have. So Mannie...

Mannie: So tomorrow I show up to work dressed as a Mexican wrestler.

2nd Place:
Banks: I sold the E to Samsung. They're Samesung now.

"My god. That's her signature!"

"I used to work the day shift at a graveyard and the graveyard shift at a Days Inn."

I've laughed more in the first ten minutes of this debut than I did during the entirety of tonight's The Office.
I'm so glad this show is back!!!

Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch was playing while Jack was making out with Cathy. Ha!
"You can't sue me! I'm already being sued! Double indemnity!"

It's back, baby.

Someone has to post a .gif of Jenna getting smacked in the face in her Japanese college commercial.

Also, I love how Tracey gives Frank and Pete nunchucks and a chinchilla coat, but Jenna gets "free hugs"coupons.

Loved the unicorn placement.

Jon Hamm is joining the cast. Holy fuck.

As someone who works for NBC Universal, the line about the theme park fire not burning what is was supposed to just killed me.

Sounds like it's a rumored multi-episode arc, not a full-time thing. Which is good, because as much as I love 30 Rock, it would be a shame if it had an impact on Mad Men.

It makes perfect sense, since his ability to shift so effortlessly to comedy on SNL semms to rival Baldwin's talent at the same.

Best ratings EVER!

That news makes me happy as is, but what makes it sweeter is that 30 Rock actually beat Heroes in the ratings this week. Well done, America!
