I Read A Great Article In...

A lot of us here seem to be avid newspaper and magazine readers, so I figured there could be a thread that highlights interesting pieces and maybe points someone in the right direction for intelligent reading.

The first one that was very interesting got printed in last month's Rolling Stone (with RDJ on the cover) and it was about campaign financing. The main conceit was both of the candidates are receiving obscene amounts from private businesses and hedge funds, but while you'd assume McCain was the leader in that category, Obama is giving him a run for his money by edging out the Republican in major campaign contributions.

The second is the cover article with James Franco from this month's GQ. It's a good piece and it might surprise you the lengths that a guy like Franco is willing to go to research a role.

This article was in the L Magazine, but it's also online for your perusal here. L's mostly a modern hipster magazine mostly dedicated to music around NYC, but they also cover movies, and I thought this was a pretty thoughtful, but unfinished-feeling, piece on the black minstrelsy of this summer's mostly white films... http://thelmagazine.com/6/26/Film/feature1.cfm?ctype=2 .

Peter Guralnick's profile of Jerry Lee Lewis in the Oxford American is pretty great. I don't think it's online though, but it's worth tracking down.

(Ok - this is a three dimensional world interpreted in two and not the other way around. But Plato was pretty close).

If you aren't reading this magazine, then you should consider picking it up. Highly recommend.

This thread lives!

The cover article for this month's WIRED is called "The Secret Formula that Destroyed Wall Street" and it's basically about a math equation these really super smart people came up with to maximize profits across the board, but killed the economy in the end.

Finally got around to reading this. Depressing, but greatly informative.

If this prove true and is economical, then the electric Car can compete with the internal combustion ones. When you charge get low just pull into a charging station, and in minutes you got a full charge again.
