On Lightguns and the Compatibility thereof

So, I'm at wit's end trying to get my Dreamcast Lightguns to work. They are the Mad Catz blasters. They worked just fine on an old CRTV (which I no longer have), but I can't get them to work on either of my HDTV, rear projection, television. I realize there is no chance of them working on my LCD screen.

Sometimes shots seem to register, sometimes not. Despite my efforts to find an answer on the intertron, I can't find a definitive yea or nay. At this point I'm assuming they aren't compatible with rear projection HDTVs, but anyone know for sure?

Pretty sure light guns don't work on any sort of projection TV. I've tried them on a couple in the past. Sorry.

Wii gun games work fine, though.

I don't know about rear-projection HDTVs but my lightguns have always worked on a rear-projection SDTV. I don't remember the brand of Dreamcast gun I had, though. It was dreamcast-grey with an orange trigger and had an expansion slot for the rumble pack on the rear of the slide. I had the Namco Guncon 1 for PS1.

It's all about the refresh rate. Newer TVs refresh too fast for the guns - it's nothing to do with whether its rear projection or not, you just need to find a 50Htz (I think 60 was when the problems first started cropping up)

There's no fix for it either, especially aged ones.
