Can Anyone Defend Palin as Anything But a Gigantic Joke? - Page 5

Was she saying in that picture that that guy has a small penis?

Either way, seems to be even less solid than than the NYT piece on McCain's alleged affair during the primaries.

Yeah, the issue here is the Edwards compare. Also - as has been said before - the Enquirers lawyers are some of the best in the biz, because they have to be.

POLITICO: Do you support the reelection bids of embattled Alaska Republicans, Rep. Don Young and Sen. Ted Stevens?

A: Ted Stevens trial started a couple days ago. We’ll see where that goes.

POLITICO: Are you gong to vote for them?

[no answer.]

I know the Enquirer reporter early on the Edwards thing, it didn't really get much attention. When they had pictures of him going into the hotel to see her, with the baby, then that was a whole different issue.

I think in this case, something that supposedly happened year ago, without any pictures or the like is not going to get any traction at all.
EVERYTHING will get traction at this point. I think you're underestimating how angry the press is right now.

Good. I hope they nail her to the wall. Can you imagine the indignation the family values brigade would muster if Obama was in Palin's shoes, with an unwed pregnant daughter and rumors of extra-marital relationship? Hypocritical fucking pond-scum.
That's it? Five questions? Wow, she'd better lay down for a while.

This story has been hinted at by the Enquirer for a while, and gotten almost zero traction. Now they come up with a polygraph and "family insider" stories as proof?

Again, it won't gain any traction, just like it hasn't so far.

COURIC: Have you ever been involved with any negotiations, for example, with the Russians?

PALIN: We have trade missions back and forth. We-- we do-- it's very important when you consider even national security issues with Russia as Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where-- where do they go? It's Alaska. It's just right over the border. It is-- from Alaska that we send those out to make sure that an eye is being kept on this very powerful nation, Russia, because they are right there. They are right next to-- to our state.

More from the Couric interview.

http://www.americablog.com/2008/09/b...ing-idiot.html

COURIC: You've cited Alaska's proximity to Russia as part of your foreign policy experience. What did you mean by that?

PALIN: That Alaska has a very narrow maritime border between a foreign country, Russia, and on our other side, the land-- boundary that we have with-- Canada. It-- it's funny that a comment like that was-- kind of made to-- cari-- I don't know, you know? Reporters--

COURIC: Mock?

PALIN: Yeah, mocked, I guess that's the word, yeah.

COURIC: Explain to me why that enhances your foreign policy credentials.

PALIN: Well, it certainly does because our-- our next door neighbors are foreign countries. They're in the state that I am the executive of. And there in Russia--

So, she's saying she has theoretical experience. Like, if I lived near a prison, I could be an honorary warden if the prisoners broke out?

Was that just a bad transcription or is that representative of how she actually speaks?

It'd certainly explain why the campaign didn't leap at the no-brainer gimme that was a "preemptive strike" of voluntary DNA testing to conclusively prove that it's her kid. If Trig's parents are who they're claimed to be, that one was a no-lose freebie. Discredit the liberal blogs. Establish your trustworthiness and transparency. Go above and beyond the call of duty right out the gate. The public would have eaten it up, and the campaign's anti-media psychosis would have made a lot more sense. Nobody in the cowardly media would have dared question even her most idiotic misstatement after that. There's only one reason you'd pass on such an opportunity - the test results wouldn't play in your favor.

Every time Palin opens her mouth, the English Language is charged an inflated price for its own rape kit.

http://thinkprogress.org/2008/09/25/...ut-healthcare/

COURIC: Why isn’t it better, Governor Palin, to spend $700 billion helping middle-class families struggling with health care, housing, gas and groceries? ... Instead of helping these big financial institutions that played a role in creating this mess?

PALIN: Ultimately, what the bailout does is help those who are concerned about the health care reform that is needed to help shore up the economy– Oh, it’s got to be about job creation too. So health care reform and reducing taxes and reining in spending has got to accompany tax reductions.

And an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope. Damn!

When has a candidate submitted DNA evidence to prove their kid is their kid? That's just too crazy to even consider, please.

Who was going to ask for this evidence, aside from a deranged Sullivan, Mauri Povish?

Not to defend Sullivan, but for clarity only: he's asking for all the candidates to release their medical records. He's not asking for a DNA test, and he's not asking for only Palin's medical records.

I got this.

I need to make an e-mail compiling all of her answers that don't make sense (note: ALL OF THEM) and use it as a standard response for every Obama forward from now on. Every time I get an e-mail that flat out makes shit up about Obama, I'll send the e-mail and simply ask, "How is this woman not retarded? And can you explain what the hell any of those answers meant?" The obvious reply is, "At least she's not a Muslim."

Seriously, that video that Matt M posted in the giant thread (link) says enough. I don't like her and I can't even watch that video, it's just sad almost.

Transcripts don't really catch that awkwardness at all.

Is that real? The audio doesn't match up. It's almost like someone took random words and statements from her and smashed them together in a schizophrenic fashion. No human being could respond to Couric's question in that way.

Edited to add: I think Youtube was just being glitchy.

Nobody "credible" would have asked, but if it had been volunteered, it would have been equal to a "get out of jail free" card similar to McCain's POW status only more so as it concerns the sacred institution of motherhood itself - and the media would have fallen right back in line like obedient lapdogs, where they would have stayed. It would have been the ultimate gesture of accountability and seriousness, and it would have completely neutralized Daily Kos and everyone else to the left of RedState. It seems like too good a chance to pass up, unless the tests would not produce results that were favorable to the campaign.

He wanted confirmation from her obstetrician that she did in fact deliver her own son.

http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.co...l-is-preg.html

I guess for male candidates he would need to ask for paternity tests.

That's just crazy. I don't expect any serious campaign to even entertain that idea.

Crazy? No, it's getting out in front of a smear and squashing it in a way that makes you look good as a candidate running as a maverick who's all about transparency in government, while utterly crushing the credibility of some key media outlets of the opposition. "Daily Kos? They made Sarah Palin get a DNA test, the bastards!" Not true, but as we've seen, truth ain't really a top priority for McCain/Palin.
I don't think the general public considers the "daily kos" a "key media outlet", doing what you say is kind of legitimizing it.

There was a crazy guy on YouTube claiming he had an affair with Obama, I'm sure some sites were linking to him "hoping" the story was true. Obama addressing it would have been stupid.
Almost as crazy as Snopes going through the trouble to disprove that Obama is the Anti-Christ.

A friend of mine likened Palin to a set of jingling keys on his facebook status. I've taken to calling her "Jingles" ever since. It makes me smile and I feel a little better being attached to all of you during this. Just wanted to share.

HAHAHA, this election is SUCH A FUNNY FUCKING JOKE! Oh my God, I AM ROLLING ON THE FLOOR! HAHAHA...

Seriously, my faith in humanity is lost. HOW FUCKING STUPID ARE PEOPLE?! I will rarely ever use caps, and this is one of those rare instances. I am going to Europe in little over a week and I'm not sure I'll want to return...it just seems a little more sane there. Prostitution and weed. The hadron collider would've been on full-throttle on my last day if it didn't break down, and I was half-wishing we'd all be sucked into a black hole after my fill of drugs and intercourse, preferably during a hangover...and I'm not even the rowdy collegian kid.

I just saw some footage on CNN in which some guy comes out of nowhere to cut off reporters who were asking Palin questions on the street. Unbelievable.
I thought Avatar was my most anticipated media event but fuck that noise! The Biden/Pailin debate has now taken that spot!

How can anyone of the Palin fans seriously watch that Couric interview and still believe in her?

ETA: how do you guys imagine Obama reacting when he's watching these interviews?

And she responded "WE CANNOT LET THE TERRORISTS TERRORIZE US ON OUR LAND HERE IN A .... CITY LIKE NEW YORK! I AGREE WITH GEORGE BUSH!"

You know...it's amusing and slightly annoying how much disdain Conservatives like Sarah Palin show for big cities like New York, yet they invoke 9/11 at any available opportunity.

I'm starting to look forward to her random outbursts more and more. She's like Tucker Bounds, but with lipstick.

Edit: Here's a link to part of the footage, I'm still trying to find her invoking GWB. That voice. *no*

Great observation, Soylent. If you hear the actual interview, you can literally hear the gears turning in her empty echochamber of a head as she pauses to come up with anything, just to keep talking.
