Can Anyone Defend Palin as Anything But a Gigantic Joke? - Page 15

Not when people try to pass it off as a real picture, really, do we have to go down to that level?
But seriously, it's not even close to being all that bad. Besides, we all know what the 'peace' sign backwards means in the UK, amirite?

I don't know that there was some grand scheme to pass it off as real.

You take everything way too seriously.

It was, from DU, then again DU is a cesspool ...

It's bad because it's an innocent kid. If it was Sarah Palin I'd not even give a shit. Besides, the older Palin spawn are scandalous enough, with no Photoshop trickery required.
The creepy part is that anyone in their right mind ever described the woman in that picture as "hot".

Or "candidate".

Is there a picture of Obama, Biden, McCain, or even Hillary wearing anything remotely that hideous and silly at a public appearance?

And I'm surprised there hasn't been more public criticism about how every day is "bring your daughter to work day". Quite the female role model, dragging the kid along for political currency.

Heh.

Lame.

So, I strongly disagree with Sarah Palin and pretty much everything she stands for, but type of joke above isn't really representing the democrats, are they? We're winning and for the most part we're taking the higher ground. It's kind of inspiring that people are responding negatively to McCain's negative attacks. So why make sexist retard jokes?
Horrible.
Cringeworthy
I'm going to be honest. I laughed. Sorry, ladies and people with special needs.
Yeah, that was gloriously uncouth. The dickhead in me would've laughed even if I liked Palin.

The preceding statement does not represent the views of Barack Obama, Joe Biden, their campaigns, party, supporters, families, pastors, or pets. It represents precisely that I'm a raging asshat.
I didn't say it was tasteful. I just said "heh", which was my first reaction when I found it on the wonderful Internet.

I also wouldn't say that joke represents the Democrats at all. It's just tasteless Internet humor making fun of a moron (and taking a jab at the mentally challenged at the same time). It's not as shocking to me as the rabid mobs of Palin supporters screaming for murder.

Besides, what else is the Internet for besides having fun at the expense of the retarded? I don't find Down's Syndrome Vampire funny at all, but I defend the Internet's right to make fun of him.

Anyway, we all know it was Bristol's baby, so moot point.
Since when did you uptight people get jobs in the Obama campaign? That was funny.

I don't think the Democrats are going to be nearly as magnanimous in victory as you would like to think they are. Hell, a lot of them aren't being magnanimous with only the prospect of victory driving them.

I know the Dems like to paint themselves as the kindler, gentler party, but at the end of the day there's a lot of pissed off people and, frankly, most of us aren't nearly as high minded and noble as we like to think we are.
Besides, I'm not a Democrat, so it's okay for me to laugh, right?

.
Compared to Clinton, Obama, Biden or McCain, she IS hot!

Breaking news: every time you make a joke, it counts as a final statement about everything you believe in and is representative of any fictional distinction or "group" you might belong to.

In related news: the correct answer to any "why make [insert evil adjective] jokes?" is "because it's funny". Incidentally, the premise of this thread is that palin is, in fact, nothing but a gigantic joke so LOL is the only appropriate response to her very existence.
So gender based jokes are ok, but racial ones are not? Just trying to understand the "logic" here ...
Yes. I explicitly said that, in between the lines and without typing it!

None of those gifs mock Palin for being a woman, so they're not sexist, though they may be tasteless.

Whirlybird's find deserves more love, by the way.

I see nothing here that looks down on her being a woman. She's looked down on for being an idiot and for having a Down's baby. Being a moron is gender neutral, and it takes two to make a Down's baby. One could just as easily cast aspersions on the First Dood's inferior sperm. She just happens to be the half of the brilliant creative team behind Trig Palin that's got the vagina. Gender and racial based jokes are OK, because that's not the same as racist jokes or sexist jokes, which are usually bad news.

Which is not to imply that this joke is in good taste -- it is most certainly not, but I wouldn't want to live in a world where jokes had to be in good taste.

As for the MY PUSSY'S SO HOT... that's just purely silly. As offensive as finding something that Biden said that could be mistaken for MY COCK IS GIGANTIC from the lip movements.

EDIT - Christ I'm slow. And Whirlybird's find is the shit. THEY LIVE is a film that truly changed the way I look at the world when I originally saw it in my younger, more impressionable years, and it's sure as hell applicable here.

It does say "political discourse" at the top of the page. I'm just sayin.
I'm not trying to be overly sensitive, but I guess I don't see the fine line. When discussing Palin, it usually doesn't stop at mocking her intellect or policies (or lack of), a lot of these jokes would not be made of a male politician.

As for making fun of her failure to produce a "healthy" baby, wow ... I guess I'm too PC for that but I do see a gender component that is obvious in that, as again, I've never seen people really make fun of politician's kids with special needs. She can't be the only one.

I would also be interested in the opinion from female CHUD posters, as the father of 3 daughters I'm kind of interested on what they would think about this and if I'm being too PC.

My problem with them is that they're just not funny, but that's business as usual around here. This place is like a Dean Martin roast sometimes.

If that male politician was a bimbo, they just might.

I think that personal attacks on Palin are bound to be different from similar attacks on a male politicians simply because their personalities are fundamentally, differentially defined by their respective genders.

I think that many people, including myself, are emotionally charged by Palin's condescending, conscienceless, anti-intellectual demeanor, and have taken attacks on her well beyond the norm. I think she comes off as a cruel and arrogant person, and given her profound stupidity and aversion to knowledge, she comes off as a natural enemy of most of what I hold dear and true. I'm willing to feel guilty about making fun of a Downs Baby for the chance to laugh at a perfectly worded Palin joke.

G-Dub is a fucking idiot and he's been made fun of quite similarly in terms of intellect. If he manages to shit out a Down's baby maybe then the comparison will be fully apt.
I guess we should all stick to knock knock jokes. Saying "that's not funny because it's inappropriate" is like saying "that's not sexy because there's nudity". Cultural sensitivity is not funny.
I want something real rude, come on!
The thing with Palin is that there is enough to laugh at about her without shit like that.

I chuckled. Palin puts her gender and kids out there every chance she gets. The "jokes" are just reflecting that. The proof is in the pudding. We didn't see these kinds of thing about Hillary Clinton. And, in fact, when real sexism reared its ugly head (people shouted "go iron my shirts" at Hillary's public appearances, or made news stories about her crying on the campaign), no one gave a shit and told her to toughen up. MILF and retarded baby jokes may be un-PC, but that's pretty much the point. It's less about sexism, and more about being as inappropriate as possible.
It wasn't hilarious, and I wouldn't tell it at a work picnic, but find me the lie in that joke. Palin is a gibberish-spouting car wreck. If you think the joke somehow targets downs babies or women, you might be retarded.
I don't know what you mean by "targets" but the "joke" surely uses those elements to mock her, in a way that I believe wouldn't be done to a male politician.

Diva, btw, there was a discussion of those things during Hillary's run. DaveB was really the voice of reason during that time. But I do remember people accusing Hillary of crying on purpose or dishonestly to use that as an advantage. Some also warned that Palin "better not cry" in the debate, and when Biden did it nobody seemed to mind. How can that not make one suspicious?

I think a few of you simply turn a blind eye to some of these things based on how a person matches your personal politics, that is all.

Yes, because Clinton's infidelities were met with restraint and dignified discourse.
As much as I respect you as a poster, I do think you have a little too much sand in your vagina. I mean you are aware of where you're posting right? But I do agree we're being a little too mean to the baby. I mean after all ,in fairness to little Trig, he is the least retarded thing to come out of Sarah Palin.
How do his infidelities compare at all with the mere fact that she's a woman and gave birth to a child with Down's Syndrome, which many of these jokes seem to insert every other time.

See, people make fun of Bush for being dumb, but don't refer to his sexual organs all the time to make that joke work. Same goes for Dan Quayle.

Well, clearly, with Palin, they were referencing crying out of frustration and confusion over intense questioning, extrapolating from her unease in the Couric interviews. With Biden, the crying was over a genuine emotional moment, as he responded to Palin's claim that she understood what it was to raise a family in these times with his own experience as a single father in hard times.
What I meant was people were anticipating her crying in the debate as a way to gain symphaty, I can only assume this was even brought up becase she's a woman.

Same thing with Hillary, again, if she cried in a debate I doubt the reaction would have been the same.

Palin's not dumb, just woefully ignorant.

And the retarded joke wasn't about Palin's sexual organs. It was a play on words. If you can't see how that joke writes itself, I don't know what to say.
