Mitch Hedberg - Do You Believe in Gosh

"I was watching this TV show about this girl named Lola who was born without arms. Literally born without arms. Her hands were attached to her shoulders. I felt bad for her, but then they said 'Lola doesn't know the meaning of "can't" ' and I thought that that was a lot worse. Not only does she not have arms, but she doesn't understand simple contractions."

How the fuck has this CD been out for several weeks and I didn't know about it? I'm 3 tracks in and already I've had to pause it because my sides hurt from a joke about drummers.

The CD is okay. Its no where near as great as Mitch All Together and a lot of the jokes aren't finished. It's more like Strategic Grill Locations where not all of the jokes work, but the ones that do make the album worth it.

One thing that is great though is that almost all the material is new (to me at least).

The only joke I'd head before is the "really hip popotamus" one. I saw this disc on the Amazon.com "Upcoming Releases" list a week before it came out and nearly shit. I picked it up on Wednesday from Borders. Loved it.

I also picked up two Lewis Black CDs, which were also great.

One of my favorite parts has to be Mitch's improved interaction with "Phil" in the audience.

"Dude, you are a cow. The metamorphosis is complete. Don't fall asleep, or I will push you over".

I love Hedberg's delivery, its what takes a weak joke and still makes it funny. But yeah, this is not quite up to Mitch All Together standard. Fucking heroin.

I've heard the term "rough draft" tossed around when describing the CD and I think it fits perfectly.

He admits right at the top that he's trying out new material and not all of the jokes are ready.

Yeah, if you're expecting anything like his previous two albums, you're gonna be very disappointed. Most of the material isn't even funny yet. It is, however, worth checking out if only for some interesting insight into his writing process.

This is the saddest comedy album ever.
