I am so glad I am not in college anymore. I don't think I could deal with the bullshit I would hear from the Philly fans.
Lidge should be find unless, wait... is that Albert Pujols in the stands?

ETA- Congrats, Philly fans. Best stay indoors.
Well, congrats to the Phils.

I hope you all kill yourselves drinking tonight.
I hope every Philly fan gets scurvy.

OMG! WE WON! We now average a championship every 63 years
post #407 of 442
lots of sandy vaginas in this thread.

I will be attending the parade on friday. I'll probably get murdered, but it'll be worth it.

Look at it this way, In the Shadows.

When your Mets beat us in a game at the new stadium next year, then your team will be beating the world champions.
Phillies are playing in Yankee Stadium next year.

I am so there with my World Series T-shirt.

I'm also going to dump beer on the nearest Philly fan I see at the ballpark.

Enjoy your victory, you get one a lifetime. Maybe I'll take a drive down there and join in the looting.

Or maybe I'll just burn a Philly...

Cubs fans would KILL for that average.
We don't give a inch. We boo Bud Selig and the mention of the Rays
post #413 of 442
I hope Killadelphia burns to the ground tonight.

Although I hope none of you Philly chewers get hurt.
Congrats Philly, your team was clearly the best team this years playoffs: 11-3!

Now you fuckers better give Pennsylvania to Obama.

I cannot vouch for the rest of the state. Once you get outside Philly it gets real Deliverance-y.

Good game (games?...?) Philly. And to Tampa Bay: too soon! Much, much too soon.
Fuck the Phillies. I hope they suffer incredibly obtuse fates.

To the Phillies,

Thanks for giving my nephew a parade

Damn we are going to dump more payroll than the Marlins in the next few years. No way this ownership group is going to spring for Utley, Howard, Cole, Victorino, and Rollins.

I just hope that Pat doesn't join the Red Sox or Yankees next year.
Utley is already locked up for like years Rourke.

I don't really care right now.

We Are The Team To Beat!!!!!!
They are showing a impromptu bon fire in the middle of a South Philly street on Phillies Post Game live.

It is starting to get a little big.
Not great!

Edit:

Ahhh forget it. Its been 25 years, who gives a shit?!
What poor management by Joe Maddon in this. What the fuck was he thinking?
Tampa Bay will be back in the Series within the next 1-3 years. He'll get another shot.

I knew that the Phillies weren't going to be facing the next Joe Torre when Joe Maddon got rid of his outfield in the bottom of the 9th in game 3.
Okay, well it has been fun.

I am pulling for the Cubs or Rockies next year (barring the Phillies facing them in the playoffs of course!).
Yes.

Christ, you're still complaining? I root for NY teams in all three major sports, and those teams have combined for, what, three championship appearances in twenty-two years? Poor baby.

I always sort of hoped the Phillies I've grown used to seeing fail would turn up at some point, but they never did. I'll just hold onto the fact that this core is older than anyone thinks, and any sort of prolonged period of dominance simply isn't in the cards for them.

But enough sour grapes, congrats Philly fans, a win like this just goes to show how unpredictable baseball can be.
Well, we all know someone who is pleased as punch the Phils won:

Bud Selig.
I hate all Philly teams so I wasn't exactly thrilled last night. I guess it's better than Boston winning again.

Not sure why Maddon didn't just start the game off with Price but okay. The Rays are a very good team that will only get better over the next couple years. I'd be very surprised if they have a drop off like the Rockies did this year.

Now onto the Yankee postseason! Get Sabathia! Please don't bother with Manny!

You guys should think about getting Pat Burrell as a DH. He is 32, but he is (not in this series) usually a good clutch hitter.

I don't like Manny, but I'll be damned if I didn't want to see him play against the Sox in a Yankees uniform.
Manny's thirty-seven. The Yanks have needed to get younger for YEARS. Also, I don't just trust how he'll react when the New York media is surrounding him everyday. Isn't that a big reason why he wanted out of Boston?

As for Burrell; if we didn't have Damon and Matsui already, he'd be a good pick. We desperately need a center fielder and a first baseman. I read Mike Cameron's name come up which wouldn't be a bad stop-gap.
Manny will go to whomever will pay him the most. Period. End of story.

Congrats Philly fans. May the rays of light/hope from this championship pierce the miasma of despair/darkness that hangs over your city/lives.

I think this sums up how the majority of the city feels about it. I know I do.

Isn't signing a 37 year old corner outfielder par for the course for the NY Yankees? Not that I disagree with your position, but that hardly seems like a reason why the Yankees would avoid him. And seriously, the media? This narrative is starting to border on the ridiculous.

The big reason why Manny wanted out of Boston is because he wanted a new contract, period.
