Downtown Owl by Chuck Klosterman

As someone who has read every one of Klosterman's books multiple times I'm a little shocked that I missed this somehow.

It's apparently fiction set in small town North Dakota (Fargo and The Messengers now have company!), anybody reading this?

I'm going to see a movie on Friday and now between this and the Lehane book I'm definitely making a trip to Barnes and Noble.

EDIT: Holy shit, Leprechaun was set in North Dakota. I've never heard that before.

He's good in small doses, like his essays in "IV" and "Sex Drugs Cocoa Puffs". Not so much with the longer books, like "Killing Yourself to Live"* and "Fargo Rock City." I'll wait for paperback.

*However, this book does include one of my all time favorite quotes about New York City.

I suppose just saying I've read his books multiple times doesn't qualify as much of an indication of how much I like him.

I love Fargo Rock City and Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs. I like Killing Yourself to Live but it's hard to defend. Parts of IV work for me moreso than others, and actually my favorite part of that book was the chunk of incomplete novella at the end which bodes well for Downtown Owl.

Killing Yourself to Live is the only book I've read multiple times. I don't reread books often, but I go through that one annually.

The chapter where he compares his past girlfriends to probably every single member of Kiss is absolute gold.
