Horror Movie Draft: Rules

Five rounds. One round a day, going from Monday through Friday of next week. Bonus round the following Monday likely.

You will make your pick in the appropriate thread, ie Horror Movie Draft: Day One. You will only draft when your group is on the clock. If the previous group has finished drafting, then you may go, even if your timeslot has not come up. I will post times, but whenever possible check on the day's drafting because it is very possible that you will get to go before the allotted time.

If you do not think you will be able to draft in your timeslot, or know in advance that you will be away, please try to PM somebody your picks. There will be plenty of folks willing to draft for you. You can always draft at the end of the day, but if you know you won't be here, let us know, so we can move on.

I will be posting the draft order today or tomorrow, the groups will probably be three to four drafters. Anybody in a group can go whenever there slot is up. Example:

11:00 AM
M. Savage
Anderson
Eileen

Anderson does not have to wait for Savage to go, Eileen does not have to wait for Anderson to go. All three of them can go whenever their group is on the clock.

In the event that two people pick the same movie, whoever gets it in first is the one that counts. The time might read 11:00 AM for both, but one will appear first. It does happen.

DO NOT MENTION UNDRAFTED ELIGIBLE TITLES IN THE DISCUSSION THREAD. I WILL KICK YOU OUT OF THE DRAFT IF THIS PERSISTS.

Any horror movie is eligible. I am not going to define horror movie, if you want to pick something that is off the wall or considered more of a traditional thriller, be prepared to take some shit for it in the discussion thread. Be prepared to give as much as you take. Have fun.

I would hope we could stay away from the joke picks. Sure, Stepmom scares the hell out of me, too, but I don't think that was the filmmaker's intention.

Because of our friends across the pond, aka sackley's video nasty rule, I will be allowing DTV titles. Please show some restraint.

Hopefully I've covered everything, and hopefully it's clear. Please post in this thread if you have any questions, comments, etc.

Have fun, and Happy Halloween.

I will do my best to accomodate everybody's draft time wishlist. Not everybody will be happy.

Keith: After doing the FAIL Draft, I know what you're going through. It's a pain in the butt trying to make everyone happy, schedule-wise.
Fuck happiness. If the slot get in the way of someone's yoga class, they can pm the pick to someone else or pick at the end of the day!

Thanks for putting this together Keith!

Pretty much. I bent over backwards doing this in the Action Draft, and it's really not fair to everybody else. Plus, it made more work for me. Fuck that.

With all these people, I was tempted to stretch this out, but it seems like everybody likes the one week draft thing.

You make the schedule, and we follow it. That's all there is to it, Keith. Don't let anyone give you grief. You set this shit up, you are the Commissioner, so to speak, and we abide.

Besides, keep it in context... this stuff really matters? </blaphemy!>

Thanks, I'm always looking for an excuse to go on an unnecessary power trip.

No, this is all for fun and games, just looking for some input on whether folks want the succinct version, or want to stretch a horror draft further into October.

I liked the one week jam session, followed by a bonus round the following week. That worked good for both the Action draft and the Fail draft.
Bummed I missed out on this one. Should be fun.
Yeah, the succinct schedule is probably best. That way, there's less burnout on the whole thing.
I'm less excited about my own drafting than I am getting introduced to some new titles by others. This will likely result in more rentals for me than any other draft, this being October now. Don't you fuckers let me down!

I really am out of my league in this draft. I was such a horror geek growing up, birthday on Halloween, blah blah blah, but the last ten or fifteen years it seems like I lost my nerve when it comes to scouring the shelves for titles. Burned so many times with shitty, shitty movies.

Plus, the older I get, the more of a puss I am. I used to be able to watch the most disgusting shit go down without batting an eye.

This should be SPOOK-tacular!

Ratty, that pun was just BOO-tiful.
I was discussing this with Anderson the other night... Implementing certain "rules" like No DTVs and No Thrillers...

But you're probably right Keith. It's better to just let everyone do their own thing. Anyone silly enough to draft certain ridiculous things is going to deserve all the grief he or she gets on the boards. We'll just have to leave it at that.

I can't wait. This is going to be awesome.
I'm hoping I can get at least a couple of respectable picks in the first couple of rounds. As a horror fan, I'm far too forgiving towards the genre and I already have a bad habit of letting heart win out over head with some picks. If I get a late slot this time, my list could be ugly.
The closer this gets and the more people who sign up the more I realize how awful I'm gonna be in this one. I'm gonna go watch a lot of horror movies now.

Thanks for making me look a fool, Keith.

Yeah, we need to stop letting people in! 35 entires is a lot! come round 5 we'll be fighting for the sixth sequel to DTV titles.

Oh, come on. It's not like this is one narrow era (1990's Horror draft would be brutally difficult). You have nearly 100 years of horror films to choose from without having to dip into the dreaded DTV/Sci-Fi Channel Original well.
Sounds good, Keith. Looking forward to it.

My birthday's on Halloween, too.
Hey Now, Sci-Fi Channel Originals have their charm. There is some fun to be had in a Pteradactyl disembowling Coolio or a sabertooth biting of Robert Carradine's head.
Given the remake frenzy of this genre, release dates should be mandatory on all our picks to distinguish between original and remake.

I will literally FART in the general direction of anyone who actually drafts anything remotely like what you're mentioning.

Though, in a draft this crowded, it certainly wouldn't surprise me to see such titles show up in Day 5 or the Bonus.

If I succumb to it, you may piss in my direction. It will be duly deserved.

Oh No, I'm Slow

Dang! Wish I would have read this yesterday or at least earlier today! Any chance on me gettin' in on a piece of the action?

Maybe, I'll ask the others. I don't care one way or the other.
