Dead Girl Hocks DirecTV

So, I'm sitting in a restaurant watchng the dodgers game when a commercial for DirecTV comes on. You know the ones. Some actor shows they have no integrity by reprising one of their famous roles to tell you about how great DirecTV is.

Well their new ad left me with a big ol WTF?! It shows a scene from Poltergeist and Carol Anne and Coach tell you all about the great channels and shit you'll get with this satellite service. Of course Heather O'rourke who played Carol Anne died a horrible death years ago during one of the sequels but that didn't stop directv from hiring a girl who looked kind of like her to whore for them.

Bravo directv. Bravo!

Edit: hawks not hocks. My bad.

And to think. We've learned nothing from those Dirt Devil ads.

Craig T. Nelson does the shill bit. Rourke is just archival footage. Hopefully, her surviving family members got a check.

Or free DirecTV, probably not the premium package though.

Dead kid or not...no MGM HD for free.

It wasn't cheap remastering Beyond the Door III and Cherry 2000 in HD.

They do air Goldeneye though, and everything's in OAR, so I can't fault them that much.

I saw this yesterday and was completely creeped out. I mean, I was being pitched DirecTV by a kid that died in the 80's. Craig T. Nelson was entirely secondary to Heather O'Rourke as far as my conciousness was concerned. He was the one talking, sure, but she was the driving force.

So the O'rourke family gets some scrilla but Dominick Dunne gets bupkis. Hope he rights a book about this injustice.

Ah, there was no volume at the restaurant. The way it cut to a close up of her face made it seem like a different actress talking directly to Nelson about DirecTV. It's still horrible.

They should have just used Nelson from ACTION JACKSON. The scene where he shoots Vanity up with smack could easily transition into a satellite TV pitch.

I hope the next DirecTV ad has Jake Gyllenhal hugging it out with Heath while talking about the virtues of satellite television. "I wish I knew how to quit you... DirecTV."

Redford, Newman, and an HD/DVR jumping off a clip would be good fun.
