Posts Per Day

Thread Starter
Is there a way to cap this? Unless you are a writer for the site, you shouldn't be averaging ~9 posts per day. It seems like every thread I go into now, no matter the topic, I can expect to see posts from IntheShadows, EdHocken, Tati* and others. I don't have a personal problem with these guys; they are nice enough and occasionally offer up something interesting, so I don't think that they are doing it to be assholes. Most of the time though, it's a bland post with no real merit. These posts start to pile up and soon enough the thread begins to read like an AOL chat room rather than an actual discussion.

*His average post is low, but he's gotten at least 500 posts in less than a month, so I'm still including him.

*It's called "participating in a draft". Try it. You'll feel better.

Or you can be posting in the politics forum.
That'd fuck the draft discussions pretty hard.
Draft. And not 1. THREE in a month. That will raise your postcount like a bitch.
No shit. 5 months ago I had 600 posts.
So. How many posts can we waste in this thread?
I apologize for ruining your enjoyment of threads about drugs and not "getting" sports. Also, the debates have run my post count up like a bitch.

Post when you have something to add to conversation.

You have 15 posts in one thread alone; all of them are bad rape "jokes".
Hypocrites. All of you.

So what, I was stoned. Ignore me then. Like that thread had any chance of actually developing into something interesting.
Heh.
I almost never read the drafts and I still see that there are guys who post in every thread. (And sometimes I feel like I'll start becoming one.) I'm not sure that it's such a bad thing, and I'm definitely not sure that capping PPD would be good or helpful, though.

It didn't cause you and EdHocken both participated in it.

Oh, really? So you wanted to have a serious discussion about how rape is serious business?

Hit the fuckin' ignore button then.

Having a funny conversation would have been nice.

No, I just didn't post until I noticed the Dave Davis connection.

I'll give you credit in that you've gotten better lately and seem like an all around nice guy. Used to be a time though when you and LisaNY were the biggest offenders.

If Phil or Slater were to post in every thread, I wouldn't mind because they bring something to the table when the post. Look at their average post counts.

You think 9 posts a day is a lot?

Speaking of which, where is Lisa these days?

In Buenos Aires ogling young men?

Having a 20-30 post per day cap would probably limit some of the more mindless stuff on Chud (like my last few posts)

I'm talking the average number of posts per day listed on your profile. If there's a debate going on or a particularly heated discussion, have at it. Its people who, on a daily basis, show up in every thread in every section and post 5-6 replies of nothing that I have problem with.

And another thing. Kids are SO fat these days. Isn't there some way we could make money off of that?
The most annoying part of the message boards has always been people starting threads about what they find annoying about the message boards.

The Chewers Catch-All:
This is the place to discuss the folks that frequent the site and boards. This is the place to praise, question motives, and ask opinions frankly and away from other threads that may not be relevant. Uncle Mitch thanks you.

My position remains.

rofl

Have I passed the 9 posts for the day counter?

I just wanted to bold something.

I'd love to see a rep implementation where only staff can mete out rep. Useless posts from boring "Yay, me too! What time is it? BRILLIANT!" posters get singled out for wasting space, and they wouldn't be saved by trickle-down rep feedback from overly generous members. Let there be punishment.
Minsky: obviously hates writers.

"Devin, Russ, Alex -- get in here for a minute. Listen, on top of writing the day's editorial content, attending screenings and junkets, conducting interviews and following the message boards when you have a spare moment, I want you to dole out reputation points amongst our message board members ... What do you mean you quit?"

Wasn't that the idea behind the ill-fated STAR CHAMBER?

Seriously, its like the script to Shoot em Up in here.
They'd be able to flag the 'me too' posters if they wanted to. Nobody said anything about making it a full time job.
With a little self-discipline I think you'll find that you can actually skip right over posts by Chewers who you recognize as rarely having anything valuable to say.

For serious offenders I refer you to the "ignore" function. If it weren't for quoting I would scarcely know that many of the offenders even exist.
How about we rig this thread to where everyone who opens it gets shot in the head?
I think Chris needs to chill and smoke a joint.

Actually, I'd recommend that to everyone around here today.
In an effort to cull my posts-per-day, I'll try and condense one day's worth of nothing-posts into one:

It's called being unemployed with nothing better to do*. If you seriously find this an issue of concern. Hit the ignore button. Otherwise, get fucked.

*Believe me, if I could spend less time on the net and be doing something interesting for money I most certainly would.
This kind of shit happens every few months. It'll pass. Who cares how many posts people make per day? If you find people just posting filler, ignore em. Otherwise, it's a message board. Shit happens.
Where does Fat Elvis fit into all of this?

Get a job.
I've seen what seems to be a lot less navel gazing threads, a lot less food threads, and (understandably) a LOT more political threads. Plus, if I'm not mistaken, I think Main Page threads have had a lot more attention lately? That's gotta be good for something, right?
