Drafts Per Month

These were cooler when (a) they didn't happen every week and (b) Nick and Kirby ran them.
Well, they were never cool, but I'll tell you what they are now. A lovely distraction for those of us trapped in an office. I have no sympathy for your lost innocence.
I've never been involved in one before, but I'm having a blast in the Horror Draft. And, hell, if you're not going to do a Horror Draft in October, you're missing a prime opportunity.
I've been here for close onto five years and I still don't understand what a Draft is.

Anyone care to elaborate?
You draft movies in a category. Then you go "Oh man, I wanted to draft that movie!" or "Great choice, that movie is good" and then you do it again in a different category the next week.

It's never been cool.

Oh, Ripoll, so cynical for one so young.

Ripoll is awesome. I love seeing the kids on this board who become obsessed with film in addition to themselves. Mostly, folks here just become obsessed with themselves. And Batman.
Things that other people enjoy that I don't are dumb!
Hey, whatever we can do to help end all discussion of movies on these boards is fine by me. Goddamn movies, so tired of them.

How about politics? There aren't enough political boards out there, so let's morph CHUD into one. That'd be swell.

Yes, because the Fail Draft inspired such amazing conversation about film.
If it takes drafts to get people to talk about movies, then the people here don't love movies, because obviously then they don't watch them and then want to discuss them.
I'm just glad nobody drafted Casper in the last fail draft.
Also, people who take threads like this to mean "NO ONE WANTS DISCUSSIONS ABOUT ANYTHING THAT ISN'T APPROVED" are some of the most butt hurt people in the history of butt-hurting.

All I know is that outside of the drafts and a couple other threads here you are right. This board is overflowing with folks who don't watch movies and certainly do not want to discuss them.

Devin needs to stop being out of town so much so we can get back to bitching about sandals and Olive Garden. We're starting to eat our own here.

Don't forget snatch shots.

And cell phone holders.

But really. Someone had to bitch about the drafts? Is this such an issue of concern? Why are you even giving a fuck?
And I don't understand this repeated complaint of "people don't talk about movies." Horseshit. Even An American Carol found its way to two pages. The main forum is as active as ever. So the Political forum gets more hits than the movie discussions right now. Well, what a shocker: the election's more exciting than the boring-ass September/October schedule right now. As long as people post the right topics in the correctly themed forum, who gives a shit what people are talking about? Or if they're posting in drafts, or more than 20 times a day?
The election has been over for weeks. Unless one of them takes a bullet before November it's all just the same slop being said over and over.
Never underestimate the electorate to pussy out on the day of though aka "The Bradley Effect". You can never be too sure.
Trust me. It's over. All that's left to decide is who will play at the inauguration.
Not to trot an old as hell saying but it ain't over til it's over. I'll believe it on Nov 5. However, doesn't mean I'm gonna rehash this shit over and over again.
It's over.

From Drafts to Politics.
And you guys were complaining...because?
When can we expect a "Things I Don't Like on the Chud Forums" draft?

I've got Brendan in round 1. Zinger!
So, no support for my draft draft, where we pick the best of the drafts, and the defining moment of the drafts?

Alright then, I'll just get back to posting nude pics of myself and starting threads about flicks that the majority of us saw twenty years ago, and are kind of tired of talking about.

I don't get oxygen? What's all the fuss?
Is this where we talk about Fast Food?
...What is this?

I'll start the "I've Got A Stick Up My Ass About Something And Decided To Piss About Nothing" Thread... See you there.
I agree it's been over done lately, but they're fun to do and there were several years where the drafts had kind of died off. So some of us who were missing them and some new chewers have become a little over enthusiastic about them. There's worse things we could be doing on the boards.

I've seen people bitch about various drafts over the years and it never occurs to me as to why anyone would be bothered by them. It's not like you have read those threads.
How about everyone sees Pathology and then posts in that thread? Shit, that's a fun movie.
Ohhhh flyarz, you overweight little fuck. Time to move out of mommy's basement and start meeting some real people.

Holy fuck, people. What is with the bullshit nostalgia that goes on around this place? The boards were better when <insert something> was here. I've read a number of old threads from early CHUD. Guess what? It's like the fucking Goonies. It wasn't as good as you remember.

Standard Comment About Wanting To See The Return Of The Rep Function.
I don't think his purpose is to look back to the old days. I mean, didn't Kirby just started organizing his movie drafts last year? He's saying they're more fun when they're spaced apart a bit. And sure, you can choose to not participate in them-- but even within an individual draft there can be a collective fatigue that's pretty easy to notice once you get past a certain number of rounds. Having them every week makes the process seem less like a mini "event" for nerds like us, and more like the compulsive list-making that marks the worst of message board "culture".
Don't participate in all of them?
I think personally there needs to be some padding between drafts and that they should be run through SOMEONE. There is a history of pretty great drafts over the years since 1999, some bad ones too and it irks me sometimes to see some of the stuff being done in here.

But I just choose not to get in the way because folks seem to like them.

Maybe in the future, run them past me or Eileen or someone.
Whatever happened to the Babe Draft? We got people signed up and I think we even had an order and then it was put on hold pending something with some advertising.
I thought we did it.
Here's the thread where it was being set up in April of last year. About half way down the second page you postponed it, then some folks chime in in September to see if it's still happening. I don't think we ever did it, since I don't see any Babe Draft threads after that in the forum.

What is irking you about them now?
Well, I'd certainly never use the term "FAIL".
And the fact that there is no follow through with some drafts!

Where's my Tee-Shirt?
I want my Babe Draft 2008.

It's been a slow news month, and I don't see it getting any better in the near future.
