When people talk about classic NES games this one rarely comes up. When I was a kid I was obsessed with this. The thought came to me the other day, that so many games are getting sequels now from that era, that this one would could really be awesome using today's technology.

Anyone else remember this one?

This was a great game, but I really associate this title more with the Gameboy than the NES.

I don't remember a Gameboy version. Was it pretty much the same game as the NES version. I know they made a sequel, but by the time I knew about it the NES era had past, and it became very hard to find.

Oh I played the hell out of this. It was by Rare, which at the time meant it was un-fucking-believably difficult. If you thought the "rubber banding" in the Mario Kart games was cheap, this game would give one of the other cars unlimited turbo once you put a couple of wins together. There were thirty-something tracks in the game and I don't think I ever made it through all of them.

I enjoyed the hell out of this game as a kid. Probably the only racing game I really played regularly. I too only remember the NES version. I don't think I ever beat it either.

Love it, and still own the NES cart. Yeah, on some of the later tracks, once you heard a certain foe do that "vooooooOOOOP" turbo sound, it was over. No catching him! You had to keep some bombs or missiles on hand to take care of those bastards.

I believe I made it all the way through once, becase I know there was a Super Trophy you could win, and I have a pretty good memory of winning that once. I think I took a picture of the screen.

The car upgrades were the best part of that game. I cared more about catching all the letters than I did about placing well, sometimes!
