Would you recommend GameFly?

Thread Starter
I recently purchased a home theater setup and a PS3, so I'm pretty strapped for cash at the moment. I figure in the long run it would be a lot cheaper for me to rent games than to buy them. I doubt the majority of PS3 titles are worth $60 (or even $30 for that matter).

This afternoon I went ahead and signed up for GameFly. I love Netflix, and GameFly seems pretty similar (on paper at least).

Would those of you who have tried it out tell me your thoughts? Do you get fast shipping? Are the disks scratched to hell some of the time?

Thanks for your help.

They aren't as fast as Netflix, since there are only a couple of distribution centers at the moment, and if a title has so much as a short wait, pretty much means you won't see it for a good week, week and a half, if that even. But They're really good about everything else, and the Keep It Prices are kind of amazing on most titles.

So, yeah, I say worth it.

I've been with gamefly for sometime now. It seems that their shipping and receiving has been faster than ever but I think it depends on where you live. Games I get are never scratched, although they are always chipped on the edges of the disc but it doesn't effect the game. Actually I think it's intentional, their mark to make sure they are actually getting their games back and not a swapped defective one, but so far the service has been good to me.

Oh, and their "keep it" program is awesome. I've bought several games for under $20 on all platforms. Even less with the $5 off coupon you get every 3 months.

Its definatly worth it as long as your not concerned with getting popular releases in a timely fashion. Im having trouble even getting older games that are labled as Medium availability. Im dreading the wait im going to have to suffer to get ahold of Dead Space.

If you want a new game, put it at the top of your list about 2 days prior. I managed to nab Force Unleashed day and date of release that way, and it's worked in the past.

I rented that Lego Batman game from Ballsbuster. Cost me $8.50 for five days. Had me considering GameFly.

I gave that a shot with Silent Hill. No Luck. Just this week i sent a game back and cleared everything off my list besides Oblivion:GOTY, Too Human, Silent Hill. Went for 2 days without them sending anything and just gave up and added some other things. I only opened my account last month so im kinda curious if they give seniority over how they distribute the games.

No, but I do recommend visiting the CHUD "game trade" thread. I know someone has a nice PSP collection they're looking to unload.
