I'll echo the sentiment of never bitching for another 2d fighter if they actually release this one.
I'll still bitch about a Strider sequel or re-release, though.

Give me online multiplayer, and custom/alternate soundtracks, and Capcom's got a free pass for life from me. They can make all the goddamned Mega Man RPGs they damn well please. They will have earned a lifetime of goodwill.

Whoa, hold it there buddy! First they make a new Strider (and re-release the old ones), and then they get that free pass for life!
Also, reforming Clover Studios and admitting God Hand was freaking awesome should be part of this free pass deal you are proposing.
They gotta really earn the right to make more crappy megaman rpgs, dammit!
Awesome, i kinda missed out on this title but i always heard as to how amazing it was. Im curious if this turns out to be true how it will affect the obscene prices people are still selling copies for.

Said it before, sayin' it again: The world shunned Strider 2's love. Capcom forgives, but never forgets.

But, but...love conquers all, right?...right?.
Capcom is one scorned lover, i must say...I bet they are going to re-release Ghosts % Goblins just to make us suffer for our sin.

FINALLY i can get rid of my fucking dreamcast
thank you capcom
Awww, man. I loves me some MvC2. One less reason to whip out the Dreamcast. The Dreamcast that slumbers in the Darkness of the Closet next to his Eternal Brother, the Saturn. I love you, Dreamcast. You died too young.

But enough of that digression. The pure insanity of MvC2 is why I love it. It's not balanced AT ALL. And that is what makes it great. Say, you know what would be awesome? Brand new, DLC characters. Can't be that difficult to do. Just rip off some dude's MAME characters.
So do you think it will be a straight up port or have improved graphics a la SF2 HD remix?
Having to re-animate every character in the game is what's been taking SSF2 Remix out of our filthy little hands for over a year, and that game only has 17 fighters. I imagine a lot of self-inflicted gunshot victims being wheeled out of the Capcom offices by this time 2009 if they tried that same process on a game with 57.
Actually, that's the embarassing thing about SSF2HD is that they aren't adding animation. They've just redrawn the sprites in HD. That was kinda the whole hook, that it would be the exact same game that fighting game junkies worship but with purdy graphics. Really have no clue why it's taking so long to release, though.

Mr. Gittes, Perhaps Capcom wants to release their HD Super Street Fighter II in February with the soon to be unstoppable Juggernaut that is...Street Fighter IV which is to be released Feburary 2009 just a few weeks before the theatrical release of Street Fighter: The Legend Of Chun Li. I bet that Capcom has a huge booth at the 4th New York Comic Con on the weekend of Feburary 6th, to promote all their Street Fighter products. To me though, the real question is will there be a Marvel Capcom 3 in 2009-2010.

With the success Marvel is having with its films (and if Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe is a hit....yeah, right), I wouldnt be surprised if Marvel told EA to shove "Rise Of the Imperfects" up its ass and moved back in with Capcom.

And this is why I don't get the love for this game. Aside from the novelty of seeing Marvel superheroes teamed up with Capcom character, it is a bad fighting game. Its way too spazzy and skill doesn't factor into the gameplay. SvC is a much better as far as team up games go.

Because I don't really give a shit about fighting games? I mean, some are fun, yeah, but I don't want to memorize long lists of moves, what works against what character, what is more effective standing or crouching but if they're jumping to the left, use this!, figure out my tier A B and C characters...fuck that. Fighting games are fun to play with friends in the same room. Which is why MvC2 is a blast. Insane amount of characters, ridiculously over the top, fast, silly and totally broken. It's great.

Also, unless you're a total fighting game nerd, you care more about Ryu beating the shit out of Captain America and Jill Valentine than...Christ, Mai Shirani? Did I get that right? She's the one with the tits and fan, right? Die hards may think it's a "better" game (and I'm sure that technically it is), but it's not near as ludicrously fun.

Gotta agree with you there, even as a King of Fighters fan....however, you bad mouth Guilty Gear X2 and the gloves are off.
The sole bad point of Marvel vs Capcom 2 for me was facing players who raped you with the Strider/Wolverine team....fuck that was annoying.
Dude, Guilty Gear is awesome. Too hardcore for me to really get into, but Sol Badguy. I mean, come on. Awesome. And the cock rock soundtrack? Double awesome.

Strider/Wolverine/Cyclops = CHEAP BITCH TEAM.

2009 will truly be the best year for fans of fighting games.
Capcom's Street Fighter IV February
SNK's King Of Fighters XII May*
SNK's Samurai Shodown: Edge Of Destiny*
Namco/Bandai's Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion
Possibly joined by
Tatsunoko vs Capcom Wii
Marvel vs Capcom 3
Long rumored
Killer Instinct
* The one problem with SNK/Playmore is that they are truly unreliable when adhering to on time release dates.

Good answer, sir.
However, it seems that new Guilty Gear game for the 360 must be avoided like the plague, at least according to reviews.
ryoken, While the new Guilty Gear Overture is not for me...(too many rts like functions), the ARC Systems team is currently working on Blaz Blue...another 2D fighter which is rumored to join recently released Battle Fantasia on store shelves in the US.
Blaze Blue looks fucking fantastic. And I will be picking up MvC2 day one. Loved the hell outta this game, whole reason I still have my Dreamcast, well that and the shitton of burned games I have for it. When I was in Seattle this summer I met up with a friend of mine. We hit up Gameworks and found this game in a corner. I was ecstatic. We plopped in some quarters and I promptly got my ass handed to me. It's not fair. He was Asian and I swear he goes into Autistic mode when there is a fighting game around. He wasn't even looking at the screen. Bastard.

Everyone has their favorite team-ups to rape other players. For me it was Iron Man/Jill Valentine/War Machine. Pissed my significant other to no end when I played against him with that combo of players.

Taking Fleed's comments of a MvC3 with a grain of salt. Any truth to the possibility of that one happening?

I never got to play against people other than my little brother, so online mode is a must for me. That, and Y making Cable fire three shots with his gun.

Nah, the ultimate bitch team is Magneto/Storm/Sentinel. All three of those can pull of bitch-ass infinite combos that will fuck you up pronto.

Also, big time echoing the Guilty Gear love. Anyone know if the version of GGX2 on Xbox Originals has online play. 'cause if so....
My team was B.B. Hood, Morrigan, and Marrow. Oh, the beatdowns I have handed.

Forgot about Marrow...even if she handed my ass quite a few times in the hands of skilled players.

No idea on that version of GGX2 since LIVE DOESNT LET ME BUY IT BECAUSE OF REGION LOCKS, DAMMIT!

I always wanted (and tried) to use Morrigan effectively, but never could find a satisfying player combination for her use. I just might have to try this one tonight (yes, I do have the X-Box version and no, I"m not selling it).
Cable/Ryu/Iron Man. I'm a fireball spammer from SF2 days. Hadoken, motherfuckers.
I'm just pissed that my Capcom vs SNK 2 wont work on my 360..BLAH
post #32 of 43
Not gonna be redrawn. There's more than likely gonna be multiplayer, but it, as Capcom is known for, will be laggy as fuck. That means by the time the 9 year old finishes yelling "Fuck tha Knicks", I'll be dead, dead, dead.

Also, Duke, not to rain on your parade, but TvsCap is NOT gonna be released here with the Tatsunoko characters. No way, no how. You have a better chance of Capcom rereleasing the Dreamcast port of MvsC2. The licensing alone for the Tatsunoko characters would be a complete nightmare.

Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 is happening. Even Marvel says so. See above.

She's interchangeable with Ken/Ryu/Akuma. Her attacks aren't as strong, but they're faster and easier to chain into, well, everything, her dodge/flying escapes are versatile, and her Super Moves absolutely destroy.

Also, do yourself a favor and learn her Instant Hell Murder/Raging Demon ripoff. Nothing beats literally raping your opponent to death.
Ninhead, It is a shame that Tatsunoko Vs Capcom could not be released in the US considering that Gatchaman has been adapted at least once a decade since the 70's.
None of you guys had a team that involved Cable? I feel naked if he's not somewhere in the lineup.

EDIT: Mediumdave knows what's up.
Too many players abuse the fuck out of Cable. He's fine in the right hands, but I can't use him in good conscience.
That's why I like him. Cheapest bastard in the game. Has all the good attacks. Plus, his fierce punch has him pull out a gun. A gun. Cable is too good to punch a bitch, he just busts a cap, like a man should.

Also, Ice Man/Cyclops/Wolverine combo is a combo choice I can live with. Optic blast. Optic blast. Optic blast. Optic blast...

That's why I love BB Hood. Same principle, sans the spamming.

That said, Cable/BB Hood/Morrigan is an easy to rack up a 200 hit HC if you have the right Supers equipped.
For me it was Iceman Iron Man and Wolverine. Super wave of ice and plasma blast and a torrnado claw to finish them off
post #40 of 43
My team was Ryu, Cyclops, and Hulk. I'd love to play this again.

But I'm NOT looking forward to hearing that stupid "Gonna take your for a ride" song over and over and over.
I was in my Gamestop yesterday to pick up Dead Space and I saw a copy of this for the PS2. It was with the case but not the book, but they were selling it for $80 bucks. I was actually thinking of getting it over Dead Space, but I think I'll wait just in case they do release it for the PS3 and 360.
Even by GS standards, $80 is a ripoff. I've never seen the PS2/XBox ports for more than $54.99 around my neck of the woods.
Really? That's not a bad price, late last year I bumped into a copy for about $70 at another gamestop in my city.
