First Look At Park Chan-Wook's Vampire Film

I took the liberty of creating a thread as there didn't seem to be one for this article.

This is not the first US-backed Korean film - perhaps the first US backed Korean horror film, though, and still a big deal.

SHADOWLESS SWORD had New Line Cinema money in it from the get-go; that 2005 film finally got dumped to DVD in the States recently as the creatively titled LEGEND OF THE SHADOWLESS SWORD, most likely as a tie in with New Line's Going Out Of Business Celebration.

More on topic, this ought to be interesting. Park's already promising lots of sex and nudity - a plus for any vampire film, right out of the gate.

Should probably post the link to the main page article:

Can't wait for this. After the Vengeance Trilogy, I'll check out anything Park Chan-wook. The fact that he's once again teamed up with the ridiculously awesome Song Kang-ho makes this even more of a must-see.

Anything Park works on is inevitably worth looking at. I'm a little fuzzy on the details beyond what's mentioned in the article, but I would love to see him work on a vampire film. Maybe between this and Let The Right One In, we'll see a slight resurgence of quality vampire flicks, straying us away from the cliche-ridden treatments that get churned out for a quick buck.

I'm getting off the rails, though. Park is always worth getting excited about, and echoing Chris, it's going to be great to see him directing Song again.

I'm not sure you can have a resurgence of quality vampire films when there were only ever a few of the things in the first place (Nosferatu, Near Dark, Cronos), but this is certainly promising.

Just the thought of Song getting all sexually depraved in a PCW-directed vampire flick make me so fucking giddy.

Fair enough. The other part of that point still stands, though; with Let The Right One In getting so much unanimous praise, and with Thirst on the way, we might finally have some worthy modern vampire movies to add to that admittedly teeny weeny list.

I hope they release a trailer for this soon. Its hard to get that worked up over a picture, even if its taken from a Chan Wook Park film. (Obviously, the notion of a new Park film is enough to have me most curious.)
