So any chance of Palin charging the stage and hitting Obama with a steel folding chair a la the WWE? After all, the big pay per view show is in less than three weeks, it's time to ramp up the rhetoric.

That way, we can have Obama and Biden in a tag match with McCain and Palin next week. Rush Limbaugh tries to interfere in the match by slipping Palin a foreign object (everything foreign is clearly evil) but gets clobbered by Williams Ayers and his patented move, the Radical Leftist Bomb.

Am I the only one who finds this eagle display thing really atrocious? It has been at every debate so far and looks like the bird is drilling its talons into the US flag while tearing the constitution apart with his beak. He looks really angry...like McCain.

Why do you hate freedom, Blue Harvester?

It's an old symbol, no doubt. Maybe they had to cut the new symbol out of the budget thanks to recent financial troubles?

Looks like one of them surfin' birds to me. You heard about them?

I forgot this was a debate with the "table setup".
Jesus, the "table setup?" Why isn't Bill Maher moderating?

Hahahha look at the fat dude to the right.

I love how every single debate has been defined as "make or break" by every news outlet. By definition, if the first debate was make or break, shouldn't every other debate after that not be so?
But each debate has been a tie. Didn't you get the memo?
Poor media. Politics just isn't exciting unless you're a giant nerd*. There's no way around it.

It looks more like the eagle is surfing....

As for that pool table, it looks more like it was meant for playing craps. That's McCain's pecadillo, gambling. Maybe he's gonna try to run the table, but come up snake eyes?

C-SPAN debate cam is already up, in case you want to see live streaming of the empty debate table :-)

Okay, the anticipation is killing me, but it's not going to be anything compared to the time period between the debate's end and November 4th. Ugh.

I kinda just want this all to be said and done so that I'll know whether or not I'm going to slip into an alcoholic haze for the next four and some-odd years.
I'm dying to see it, but i have a stone temple pilots concert. So I look forward to catching the replay at Youtube later. And seeing your comments, of course.

They have been pretty boring affairs so far, I'm hoping things get more interesting tonight.

From Sarah Walker at 23/6 . What to Look for in Tonight's Debate

Quote:
Is McCain still old?

Is Obama still black?

Did Obama look at me personally, or was he looking at the camera?

Did McCain's left ear just fall off?

Did Obama just make a secret terrorist hand gesture that would signal his terrorist friends to hop in the Obama Time Machine to travel back to 1969 to attempt to set off a bomb?

Did McCain wink long and slow and then put his entire fist in his mouth instead of answering a question?

Did Sarah Palin rush onstage and yell at Obama, "You'll lose in Iraq, Barack" and then high five McCain and rush off?

Did Joe Biden tell his wife to show more cleav because she's secretly the hottest of the spouses?

Did Michelle Obama break one of Cindy McCain's bird-bones by shaking her hand too awesomely because she's so awesome?

Barack did look at me, right? Because when I smiled at him on the TV he smiled at the camera.
and hmmm...Did Sarah Palin rush onstage and yell at Obama, "You'll lose in Iraq, Barack" and then high five McCain and rush off?

Here's the interesting irony I'm finding. More people than I've ever encountered in my life are actively watching the debates(All of them!) this year. Up till now, one got the sense that there was very little interest in them as they tended to be boring policy rag-chewing.

The expectation of some serious fireworks or all out pugilism has millions more tuned in for these things than usual. And, like you say, all they're getting is the boring, low-intensity chatter they blew debates off as being to begin with.

I think McCain will make things more exciting tonight by trying this new eye gouging technique he's been practicing ...

He's actually just re-enacting the T-Rex SUV attack scene from Jurassic Park.

Don't be ridiculous. Sarah Palin wouldn't show up to one of these debates. Reporters might try to ask her questions!

Looks like Rumsfeld's been teaching him some Poison Clan techniques. Clearly this means blah blah doomed blah blah.

The debates are huge down here; the day after the Palin/Biden debate school kids on the trams were talking about them like we used to talk about Simpsons episodes. It's quite the thing.
I thought this election was over. No one really thinks the old cancer dude is actually going to win, do they?

Don't get me wrong. I'm very happy to see these things get the attention both here and abroad. The stakes are incredibly high this time.

I think here in the US people seem to have been expecting some major sparring between the two candidates(and at least a bit of tangle with Biden and Palin). The expectations, I'm afraid, were fueled by a steady diet of reality show foolishness with coarse invective, tears and acrimony. The debates being, ironically enough, real life they could only be handled much more prudently.

I think alot more people have been made aware of the complexity of some major issues being given only cursory attention in the msm, but ultimately, as ElCapitan said before, the debates have been fairly tame and verging on the flat-out boring at times. The format of these suckers hasn't helped, in my opinion. The last two were nice ideas in theory but in practice they blew like the Hindenburg at Lakehurst. At least the general populace slowly seems to be getting the message that these issues cannot be meaningfully discussed in 60 second lightening rounds.

Again though, glas to hear that others are just as interested.

So bets/predictions? This came up on the other thread, on Ayers, it will be brought up by the moderator (at least on the 'tone') and McCain will talk about it. Pretty sure about that ...

Any other predictions? (no obvious ones please "my friends ...", "maverick", etc)

I predict Schieffer will open with at least a subtle reference to the deBrokawbacle with format limitations and enforcement last week and his intention not to let this one trip over it's own feet.

I also predict that the first post debate commercial on most channels will feature T Boone Pickens.

The moderator will bring up Ayers, and McCain will make a huge deal out of refusing to go there, because he's above Politics As Usual, but by tomorrow afternoon Palin will be all Rev. Wright, all the time, because she's a rabid pitbull with human blood for lipstick, and she has precious little to lose now by going full throttle on Obama's ass.

Cap and InTheShadows will get in a fist fight by 9:15.

FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!

That's totally based on how drunk I get during the debates.
