I thought this election was over. No one really thinks the old cancer dude is actually going to win, do they?

Don't get me wrong. I'm very happy to see these things get the attention both here and abroad. The stakes are incredibly high this time.
I think here in the US people seem to have been expecting some major sparring between the two candidates(and at least a bit of tangle with Biden and Palin). The expectations, I'm afraid, were fueled by a steady diet of reality show foolishness with coarse invective, tears and acrimony. The debates being, ironically enough, real life they could only be handled much more prudently.
I think alot more people have been made aware of the complexity of some major issues being given only cursory attention in the msm, but ultimately, as ElCapitan said before, the debates have been fairly tame and verging on the flat-out boring at times. The format of these suckers hasn't helped, in my opinion. The last two were nice ideas in theory but in practice they blew like the Hindenburg at Lakehurst. At least the general populace slowly seems to be getting the message that these issues cannot be meaningfully discussed in 60 second lightening rounds.
Again though, glas to hear that others are just as interested.
