Phil Harrison? As in "I used to fuck things up for SCEE's PR Department" Phil Harrison?

He's the content manager and one of the general bigwigs at Atari now. Though I think he's focused more on online content, I know he's got some hand in acquisitions.

Thank God for this news. Although it's still weird to see the "Ghostbusters The Game. Now available!" ad on the back of my bag of Doritos.

So a game that was to be ready this month, now will be out in about a year...what happened?

Activision bought Vivendi and decided that Ghostbusters wasn't among the acquired games they wanted to publish.

so that delay is going to push it back a year? that is the part I dont understand.

I suppose the new publisher wants to do a little extra QC. As much as I want to play this game right now, I don't mind waiting until next fall if it allows some more polish to be applied.

Between designing and ramping up marketing, buying ad space and air time, possibly working with the studio that might be making a new film and (we can hope, given Harrison's stated intent to make Atari an online player) working up some multiplayer, it's not too difficult to figure why this will be out in a year.

yeah, I just want to play it NOW, but if it gets cleaned up and made better then I'll wait the extra time..

If what I played three months ago is a proper representation of the game as a whole, you actually don't.

The way Vivendi's been handling the QA for the titles that they've sold is kind of ass-backwards, and slows things down significantly, as well (assuming Ghostbusters is going through the same process as a certain other game that I can't name specifically).

Could you elaborate on that? I really like the few trailers we've seen to date. I want this to be a good game.

It's just kinda...average. Flat. Granted, what I played was very early in the game, but it was very by the numbers, very pressbutton, very linear in a way that felt like I was being herded in one direction, rather than being part of a story. There are early game levels that make you want to immediately be deeper in the game to do more shit, and ones that make you afraid that the rest of the game will be exactly like what you just finished. This was the latter.

What I played wasn't bad; it just wasn't great.
