Dr. No looks fucking insane.

These movies are going on my Netflix queue.

Did you watch FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE?
Excited for that and FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE. Just from the screencaps alone, the Andress shot pretty much sold it for me.

I'm jealous.

YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE and ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE are still two of the best-looking movies of all time.

From Russia is next, but I'm just saying, the detail on this for a film of its age is spectacular. The color and detail.

Paul McCartney, I've only got the six Blu's, which are Dr. No, From Russia with Love, Thunderball, Live and Let Die, For Your Eyes Only, and Die Another Day.

I don't know what the next wave is.
They just had to put Die Another Day in that set didn't they?

It's definitely a weird selection for Bond's big Blu Ray debut. FOR YOUR EYES ONLY looks like an episode of MacGyver.

It's a decade older, but how would you compare it to the GODFATHER restoration?

I think I'll be passing on THUNDERBALL. That one bores the shit out of me.

Been interested to see how these turned out, and from the sounds of it, good.

When OHMSS and Goldfinger show up on blu ray, i'll probably buy them out right.

Thunderball works better as a Discovery Channel special on underwater sea dives than a movie.

Thuderball would be a great 100 minute movie. That last half hour of underwater stuff has always been deadly.

I can't compare it to The Godfather as its a completely different aesthetic. Bond has always been bright and shiny, and well looked after in the digital age (laserdisc on). This offers modest improvements over the ulitmate editions from - what - two or three years ago. Godfather was in a state of disrepair, and needed to have its blacks perfect. I'm overjoyed with the Godfather restoration, but I'm happy to watch a film like Dr. No and see it looking fresh.

That's a good enough answer for me. If the colors in DR. NO can wow me as much as the black levels on Hagen's face when he visits Woltz's studio, then that's just more shit to add to the Christmas list.

You're a lucky bastard. Aside from Die Another Day, of course. I imagine that's thats to balance out all the awesome.

They showed all of the Bonds up until Brosnan took over on Encore Avenue HD last christmas(Canadian HD movie channel). I only was able to watch the first three (damn screwup with the DVR) and they looked gorgeous. There were spots in FRWL and Goldfinger that looked like they were filmed today. I can't wait to buy my favorites on bluray.

The Connery Bonds look amazing. I'm guessing that the last round of Bond DVDs were done in 1080, and this is just a re-use, but it almost made me forget how tedious Thunderball can be on repeats. No lack of hot chicks, though. Tonight I will be hitting the Moores and the Brosnan. And maybe the Craig.

Exact same extras. Exact.

This might be a dumb question - did you get these to review, or are you just that enthusiastic about Bond? I only ask to see if we're going to be getting reviews out of this, or if you're just taunting with your plentiful supply of Blu-rays.

I'm tempted to pick up Dr. No already.

They are sick looking. The audio is something I'm not crazy about. But, the level of detail inside of the Island Fortress is unreal.

I review shit. Not for here, though. Blu-ray is my life. For Your Eyes only and Live and Let Die are kinda shit. I prefer wacky Moore. Like PM. If I am to watch them. I will probably keep Moonraker because of the amusement factor. Casino Royale (double dip) is engaging as shit. Makes an interesting double feature with Die Another Day, tell you that.

I'm gonna see how many I can watch in a row before I want to die tomorrow.

Circuit City has a deal this week where if you buy 2 Bond movies (priced at $21.99. Cheap!), you get 5 bucks off.

I'd love to eventually get all these movies, but the only ones that really matter to me are DR. NO, FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE, GOLDFINGER, YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE, OHMSS, GOLDENEYE, and one of the Daltons.

MOONRAKER is, again, one of the best-looking movies, and most worthy of Blu Ray. In a world where a piece of shit like HUDSON HAWK is hailed as a kitsch classic, MOONRAKER is the genuine article.

Is it better to buy these individually or in that box set case like on Amazon.com?

I'm really eyeing those Best Buy exclusive steel cases.

edit -- I'm refering to display purposes here... obviously the goods should be the same. You gots to show case Bond.
