Advice from the (360) gamers of chud - which one?

Okay, so Im circling a couple of new games to buy and as usual I throw myself at the mercy of the chud gaming court. I'm a time and money poor fellow so what few games I buy have to be gold, and theyre few and far between - hell the last one was Assassins Creed.

Currently Im debating getting Fable 2 or Fallout 3.

Is Fable 2 that good? I'm thinking in terms of being an avid fan of Oblivion and Mass Effect, but having never played the original Fable - is it at that level?

Or should I just get Fallout 3 when it comes out instead?

Any advice from the gamers here would be appreciated as most are opinions I trust.

Fable 2 may be the single worst gaming experience I've had all year, but I know I'm alone on that one.

I don't think even the most ardent fan of that game would pretend that it's likely to be better than Fallout 3, though. Just wait a couple of days for that one, especially since you liked Oblivion.

Rent them both.

Fable 2 wasnt that bad. But like blunderbuss said, if you already like Oblivion, theres really no reason you wont like Fallout. It may not be as long as Oblivion, so you might have to pick up something else sooner then you would like, but im sure there are many more play hours compared to Fable 2.

I am a complete Bethesda whore, and only kind of dug the first Fable. Fable 2 has really blown me away. I am having one of the best times I have ever had in an RPG with this game. I am likely not picking up Fallout 3 until Christmas now, just because Fable 2 is so engrossing. I would think Fable is probably the easier pick up and play game, with an enormous amount of content, if you choose to partake in it. Fallout is likely the more "hardcore" of the two.

That said, I wouldn't vote against either one. If you want swords and sorcery and an awesome game you can play for 15 minutes or 4 hours, grab Fable. If you want dark and dreary end of the world type shit, go for Fallout.

It strictly depends on the game you like. If you liked Oblivion and/or FPS's, get Fallout. If you like RPGs like Zelda or the original Fable... get Fable 2.

Fable 2 is a great game, but it is kinda short. Fallout 3 is apparently a really long game, I've been watching a stream feed for the past couple days intermittently and the guy playing it has put 57 hours on it and still is nowhere near completion.

I love Fable 2 so far (even my wife likes it, which is miraculous), but I can see why some people might not be into it. It has a great mix of humor, casual gameplay, and fun environments, but it's a fairly simple experience.

I'm pretty sure Fallout 3 will be epic, but I'd wait for reviews and read up on it if you're debating between the two. They look to be very dissimilar game experiences.

Rent.

Both.

It'll be a fraction of the cost, you've got a fraction of the time to put in - voila.

Plus you get to play 2 great games, you may decide you love one more than the other, want to commit 100+ hours (somehow) to it and can then go buy, without splashing out on both.

I got Fable 2 for 6 bucks with trade-ins this weekend. It is really good. It could be really short but there's enough to keep you interested for a while.

With that being said, even when I was buying Fable 2 I had every intention of buying Fallout 3 on Tuesday. If I could only buy one of them, it would have been Fallout 3.

The key thing that I picked out of your question is that you're short on time. Fable 2 is probably the better bet if you only get to play for less than an hour or so at a time. Someone else mentioned that it scales really well for either a quick session or a marathon. From my experience with Oblivion, I'd say Fallout 3 will be more rewarding if you can devote some marathon sessions to it.

But yeah, rent 'em.
