Let It Be (Rock Band 2)

It'd be funny if to celebrate they had an event with Ringo. As long as the songs are the same pricing scale, sounds awesome. But I'm not going to pay more than two bucks to play "Drive My Car."

I will pay a lot of money to play Beatles songs.
If they throw 'Revolver' or 'Rubber Soul' on there, they're mine...regardless of price.

That being said, we all have our holy grails of rock. Rock Band is desperately lacking in Queen.
Come on, "Drive My Car" would be a blast! The early to mid period stuff will go over the best. "Twist And Shout" & "Day Tripper" with a drunken audience of the opposite sex...
It's nothing against Drive My Car, it's just a short song, and if the pricing scale is that much more, a lot of fun songs might not be worth the dollar.

Oh god yes. It's me being a fanboy, but if this is true, what in god's green earth can Guitar Hero ever hope to do that could possibly match something as awesome as this?

the true story of seven strangers picked to live in Abbey Road Studios and have their lives taped to find out what happens when people stop being polite and start getting real

Led Zep, of course.
I would LOVE to rock out Revolution or Here Comes the Sun on Rock Band. Please oh please let this happen.
Well, this may just be the straw that breaks the camel's back. I'd give my left thumb to be able to pretend I'm in The Beatles.

So long $200...I barely knew thee...

Wall Street Journal confirms it. Article updated.
Fucking epic! I just bought Rock Band 2 a few weeks ago and the thought of having The Beatles go to Guitar Hero was killing me. This news has made my day.
ugh.. now i have to buy rock band 2. and play all by my lonesome.
And just like that, I've joined the club. Ordered RB2 through CHUD/Amazon. Should be rocking by Friday.

The Fucking Beatles. So cool!
The question is: an AC/DC-style standalone disc, DLC or both?
Kind of a back-tracking dumbass question, but does RB2 DLC only work on RB2? Is the music store not universal between games (for those of us who can't afford to upgrade at the moment)?
It should work on both games.
Fantastic - and this is indeed awesome news, especially given the confirmation. How soon till we see a track list?

The official announcement is tomorrow, but knowing Harmonix, they'll tell us the tracks the day before release. They're like the fucking CIA that way.
Im assuming they will go the AC/DC route and sell this is a stand alone track pack...but I would hope Apple Corp is ok with the DLC route as well.

Im still fucking stoked for the AC/dc track pack (thats what im going to call it now because that is all it is)

But a beatles catalogue of songs...that is like the holy grail of the rhythm based music game genre.

First song to DL: "As my guitar gently weeps..."

Rock Band 2, while making many great tweaks to the formula, has a track list that leaves a little to be desired.
I'm curious as to what changed your mind. You reacted pretty negatively to my opinion that the set list was underwhelming.

Here's my original post from July 14, 2008:

I love everything I'm hearing about Rock Band 2, particularly the DLC and song transfer ability, except the set list.
Your response:

I feel sorry for you, not mad at you.

Also, you're obviously thinking only in guitar terms, while Harmonix is looking at songs that will be good for a full band.
Was it the songs, or the note charts?
Happiness Is A Warm Gun and Yer Blues, please.

And yes, Zeppelin's the final frontier.

I'll be shocked if it's NOT a standalone disc. For the casual consumer, "You can buy your Dad a Beatles game for Christmas" is a much bigger deal than "if you buy the existing game and hook your Xbox up to the internet, you can download a few Beatles songs."

And while I'm in the minority that actually liked GH4 better than RB2, I'm really happy to see the Beatles go to the underdog. It's a great way to keep the two franchises competitive.
Wow. Beatles is done. Amazing.

Now yes, please get some Zeppelin and may we dream? Pink Floyd?

but i will bet that having the Beatles down will help with those things.

Come together, right now, over me.

That. Not to mention that song and Yellow Submarine will make the kiddo squeal with delight. I personally cant think of one song I'd prefer over another. I'd love to have them all.
I would love every song EXCEPT Come Together, but that's only because I've played that song to death already. If it comes as a part of an entire Abbey Road pack I'll play it in heartbeat though. I am the Walrus better be on there ,along with Helter Skelter, Sgt. Peppers, and Don't Let Me Down. Note, these aren't my favorite Beatles songs, necessarily, but those I think would be incredibly fun on the game.
Oddly enough, "Come Together" is like the only Beatles song I am truly sick of. I pretend Abbey Road starts with "Something" instead, and ends with "The End" instead of "Her Majesty".

But, if Harmonix were to push this out in three-song packs, the first one would probably be "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds", "I Wanna Hold Your Hand", and "Yellow Submarine".

Hopefully they don't do this, and we end up either getting full albums (because what would the chances be that "Tomorrow Never Knows" or "The Adventures of Buffalo Bill" would be among those early packs? Nil.), starting with Revolver and twisting back and forth until we've got everything. In fact, isn't the Apple/Apple iTunes tiff really about selling the albums as singles on iTunes? Apple Corp. wants them to sell albums only (hilarious, because no Beatles album is neccessarily a conceptual work that needs to be listened to front-back, even Sgt. Pepper's was mostly songs that, as Lennon put it, "could have been on any of the other albums."), right?

The ACROSS THE UNIVERSE soundtrack!
Slater's right, this has to be a standalone disc. Totally worth it, though.
Definite purchase, however it is delivered. But having a standalone product on retail shelves makes the most sense. I hope it has "Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except Me and My Monkey".
Alex wrote this follow-up, which I just updated:

Ok, i like that idea even more.
From the first album to the last?
sure.

There will be an interactive music performance involved using music controller peripherals, but they stress that the game is not a Rock Band title.
I don't know why, but this concerns me somewhat. The strenuous insistence that's "not a Rock Band title" makes me wonder if we're going to get what we're all expecting.
C'mon, LittleBeatlePlanet.
what a load of horse shit.

i hope people are as angry about this as they are the AC/DC trackpack.

Rock band is a platform. you dont need to go creating a new fucking game.

I understand the financial aspects of it for MTV and Harmonix, but seriously, fuck this interactive experience. I just want Beatles tracks on Rock Band.

If I want to "experience" the fucking beatles journey ill drop acid and put on revolver
