Thanks Chud

Thread Starter
I just wanted to take the time to express my heartfelt thanks to The Entire Staff here (not singling out one person cause i'll probably forget someone and i don't want a suicide on my head) for creating this site.

i've been lurking here since 2001 when i found a link from Dark Horizons to this place and started reading and watching.
Never had i found a place that resonated with me so much, and didn't show any signs of slowing down either
(a serious problem i found with many other sites. i'd join, it'd be rockin, then die down within a month never to return)

So yea, Thanks again, keep up the news, articles, editorials and hilarious mboard awsomeness till i die. or the world blows up, whichever comes first

Suck up.

*I agree by the way.

So how did everyone find this place?

I linked over from the long defunct DVD Sewer (WTF happened to Carl, anyway?) around 2001 and have been visiting (lurking) consistently ever since.

I found this place via Creature Corner in one of its earliest incarnations back around 2000. Been hooked ever since.

I could swear it was a JC's THE THING vs RS's ALIEN debate on the MBs, but hell if I can find it. Whatever it was, it was highly bio-hazardous and I've been mutated ever since.

I found CHUD via a comment on Dark Horizons a few years ago.
Pretty sure it was by following a link from Coming Attractions or Dark Horizons that had something to do with Episode I.
My first ventures in the intertubes on the search for movie news made me discover this garden of eden through either AICN, good old Coming Attractions or Dark Horizons back in 2000. Back in the days before the first (?) major revamp.

Been lurking ever since and sometime decided that my English is good enough to participate on the boards as well. For better or for worse.

I think it was from a link from TheOneRing.net a little after LOTR was announced. Shit, this means I've been reading CHUD for close to eight years.

I remember my first glimpse at the LOTR: FOTR teaser ("The Legend Comes To Life" one with the statues) was on CHUD, so I think I started reading around that time as well.

I don't even remember to tell you the truth. I'd been reading AICN for years and I think CHUD was another source for news but I don't remember how I switched from being an AICN reader to a CHUD reader full time. I think it might have something to do with discovering the podcast though.
Started when I was reading Fangoria.com back in 02 or 03 and they kept linking to a site called "Creature Corner," so I started checking them out and then one day clicked on the little Sewerlid graphic in the bottom left wondering what in the hell CHUD was. The rest, as they say...
I found CHUD through an article linked through Slashdot probably close to 8 years ago.
Devin and I were coworkers and shared a love of film. Not sure how he found the link, but he passed on CHUD to me. I can't believe that was almost 9 years ago.
Forget the details, but I think some of the talkbackers over at AICN were badmouthing a site called 'CHUD'. Wondering what all the fuss was about, I wounded going over there and realized, 'man, the community on AICN is populated by douchebags.' Lurked for a year, than took the plunge in 06.
Can't remember how I found the site, but I think it was in 2004. I only started lurking around the boards a couple of months before signing up.
Been reading since some time in '02, found the site through AICN's link section(which I don't think they have anymore). Fell in love with the site because it was generally funny as fuck and more intelligent than AICN(Moriarty excluded). Lurked in the boards for about a year before I decided to register in '04, and go figure, board registration was closed at the time.

Found it through IGN. I loved reading the DVD captions and I wanted to learn more about the Hollow Man.

Same here. I read the Nick's reviews on IGN, and kinda loved the hell out of the writing style and the captions. Made my way here, and have been here ever since. S'pretty much the only movie site I go to anymore.
I can't really remember, but I'm guessing I found my way here by way of AICN or maybe the AICN chat room.
Found it through Dark Horizons. What kept me coming back was CHUD Fact of the Day. Truth be told, I still kind of miss it.
I first started reading around the time of Attack of the Clones, and I stayed because of the Steady Leak column.
I think I followed a link from AICN. good move.

I think that's how I found this place too.

What Jan said, same year and all (no, we're not a Fabfunk/ Kabong affair!)

Adequately enough, I must also confess Chud has also helped me a lot in my day job - at least two of them. So yeah, thanks to y'all, guys!

So...
Thank you for being a friend,
traveled down the road and back again,
Your heart is true,
You're a pal and a companion,
And if you threw a party
And invited everyone you knew,
You would see the biggest gift would be from me
And the card attached would say,
"Thank you for being a friend"

Expatriate from AICN, quickly found a distinct lack (or at least substantial loss) of true idiocy by comparison, haven't strayed since.
Oddly enough, I found this site through a Houston Rockets fan site message board. A CHUD reader (moniker was DEANBCURTIS at both sites) over there mentioned this as a good movie news website and I checked it out. Nick's captions on reviews is what hooked me. This was all around 2000-2001. I didn't start reading the message board until a year or so after that and I didn't register to post until several years after that. To be honest, while I love movies I was never what I would call a movie buff so I was a bit intimidated with the in depth discussion (as well as the biting snark) that was so prevalent here.

I think I found this site in 03 or 04 as a link from AICN. Don't remember anything specific that kept me here but it was evident fairly quickly that this was a site right up my ally. I only joined the forums when Nations Punched came online and there were some fantastic ideas from people like Dane Walker.

Great site folks! Please keep it up.

A friend of a friend linked to an article in his blog. I started to read it regularly, joined the boards shortly after.

MrMushnik, and long time lurker and rare poster Baltarstar are both very good friends of mine who showed me Chud. Not sure how they found it, but at the time they were in the midst of the colossal Episode 3 thread. I browsed that and realized this was the only movie website I cared to read thereafter. Bonus for me was the boards, especially the music forums, which tend to be great on here as well.

Close to the pre-production of X-3 I was looking for some info. I noticed some link at AICN. The forums are great since that date.

In looking for movie news for my HSX account, I became a daily reader about 8 years ago. I didn't even know there was a CHUD messageboard for a few years. Joined that in '03.

Not to majorly derail too much, but the new look and design of HSX is an abortion.

Landed on Nick's interview with Kurt Wimmer while browsing an early incarnation of this site.

I still like Equilibrium and dust squibs.
I think I was following a link for info on the Dawn of the Dead remake. Discovered the boards about nine months later and have been here ever since.
Mine would be from 'Corona's- Coming Attactions' (RIP), probably something to do with Episode 1, but my mind is hazy...haven't looked back since.
Devin's infamous Browncoat-baiting article came up on a Google search for Serenity news. I had no idea "Browncoats" as a real-world group even existed until I read it. If only I could return to enjoying Whedon shows in ignorant bliss...

Didn't want to clog the bandwidth with another thread, but wanted to pass on my appreciation to this place. I check the MBs before I check my email usually. I've been active on the boards for a few years now and hope to be able to call The Sewer my home for many more.

To Nick, the staff, and all you fellow pop culture hounds here... Thanks, guys!

To CHUD... I chew chew chews you!

Here here, I like it when these pop up every once and a while but I'm a sentimental fool you see.
