Hellboy Versus Bubba Nosferatu?

This may be the first time I was against Ron Perlman getting cast in something.

I don't even think it's being unable to separate Bruce Campbell from Elvis, it's just that Perlman, I don't know.

Conflicted.
Yeah, not sure I see Perlman as Elvis, but fuck it, I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. Oh, and it's not like we needed another reason to love Paul Giamatti, but damn if he didn't just give us one. That guy is solid. I will now be eagerly anticipating any updates on this project.
I'm on the fence also. As much as I want to see a sequel. I've never see Perlman do an Elvis impression. Maybe he could bring something to it. I don't know.
Bruce wasn't some uncannily accurate Elvis impression. Bring it.
I also am on the fence. Bruce wasn't the best elvis in the world but he was perfect for the role. Ron will be good but I don't think it will be the same. I can't fathom why Bruce would not one to reprise probably his best performance.
I don't want it to be the same. It's a fun formula; they should mix it up a bit each time. I was on board for that idea that they just get a different icon (Sinatra) to fight the vampires.

True, but (no offense to Ron, cause I love 'im) there's a reason why it doesn't take much makeup to make Perlman look like a caveman or hunchback or beast. They're going to have to use makeup to make him look LESS scary.

I think The Chin has the right swagger and it's a shame he's not coming back. There's gotta be more to it, unless he's just interested in directing his own flicks now (EDIT: Interview kinda confirms). BUBBA is certainly his best film as of late.

I want DC to make more films and I'm excited for a sequel to a movie that seems ripe for a franchise, but I'm still conflicted.

Was Billy Zane too busy? Kilmer? I know they don't mind "slumming"...

And yeah, Giamatti is awesome.

I can't understand why Campbell wouldn't want to make another Bubba film. Other than that, these are great news. Especially Giammati.

Well, Giamatti and Perlman have both been leads in Mike Mignola properties. Paul was The Amazing Screw-On Head.

I'd pay money to see that. Damn shame Bruno Kirby had to die.

Yea I would go along with this idea if Bruce is not in it. I just think if Elvis is the star it should be Bruce. Again though Ron and Paul should be fun to watch.
Why can't they just use Perlman as 'someone else' that might have a vague resemblance to 'someone else' in this whacky timeline?...Yet still have a connection to Elvis?

Ron Perlman IS Jim Morrison!
...or better yet, Jimmy Hendricks...

...I have NO idea what I'm saying...
Yeah, if Bruce isn't going to do it, it's hard to complain about Perlman as a replacement. It could be kind of cool to see a new Elvis in one of these every few years. Kurt Russell in Bubba Sasquatch, maybe?
I just can't see The Perl as Elvis.
The script is so so so so so fun.
FFS, Perlman looks more like 'Bub' [DotD] sans makeup than he could EVER look like Elvis with!

I just don't see it.

Nice to know the script works, though, Bateman.

Get Lansdale to kick Campbell's ass.

Hell Christian Slater isn't doing anything. Why not him?

I like this idea much better. I read a short story once in some anthology that was about Sam Peckinpah and Warren Oates fighting vampires while they were shooting Bring Me The Head of Alfredo Garcia in Mexico. I'd pay to see a version of that.

As for Perlman, I like him and all but the casting is kind of off. I'm sure there's someone else out there that would be a better fit. I'm getting kind of tired of seeing the same faces getting lazily cast in every horror film that comes out just to pander to genre fans. I really don't want to see Robert Englund or anyone from Devil's Rejects in another film for a long time.

At the very least, I'm interested to see what Perlman Elvis looks like.

Like the King, if exposed to the gamma-irradiated blood from MONSTER ON THE CAMPUS.

So why not just get Val Kilmer? He's bloated enough that he could pull off later years-Elvis.

He's not bad he's just Slaterish. I can't say that I've studied his oeuvre with any passion but he seems only good at hitting one note. In anything else he's awkward. Anyway he's not fit to carry either of the previously discussed actors' water.

This is true.

That's what I said!

I imagine they would be better than Roman Polanski & Jack McGowran, but not quite as good as Sam Fuller & Michael Moriarty.
What could I get for William Friedkin and Randy Quaid?
I'll raise you a Herzog & Kinski.
Color me disappointed to read that Campbell doesn't want to reprise "Elvis." I thought he was fantastic in the role. I can't imagine why he wouldn't want to do it considering all the shitty movies he's been in as of late. I can't wait to hear his explanation.

Regardless, I hope the film turns out well, which I think it will.
Read an interview at AICN where Bruce implied that Joe Lansdale was not part of the project. If that is the case, I forgive Bruce for not taking part.
I thought Lansdale helped write the thing with Coscarelli.
